Unfortunately, Grange is not participating in Dine Downtown Restaurant Week this year, but I have been in the past for that special 3-course menu, business lunches, and a holiday party held at the Citizen. They have valet, street parking, public garages nearby as options if driving in. We had some folks staying at the Kimpton so it was walkable for them.Came in for a 6:15 PM reservation business dinner, party of 10, seated right away in the back private room with the glass sliding doors, interesting mural, and view of the kitchen on one side. Francisco was our server and did a wonderful job for the evening. The most popular items from the starters menu according to Francisco were the Pork Belly and Scallops, and the Hamachi [Tuna] Crudo. The top three entrees were the Grilled New York [Steak], the Grilled Black Cod, and the White Truffle Spaghetti. Other starters to pick from were a butternut squash soup, escarole salad, burrata salad, or caviar. Your remaining options for entrees were a Niman Ranch pork chop, King Salmon, Crusted Ahi Tuna, Chanterelle mushroom risotto. The special for the night was an 11-ounce filet mignon. I decided on the Butternut Squash soup (with lobster), the special Filet Mignon entree, the Banana Cream Pie dessert, and a glass of the 2020 DAOU Rosé (Paso Robles). Bread and butter were also provided, sparkling and still water for the entire table too. I love the presentation/serving of the soup, poured tableside into the bowl. This had lobster, puffed wild rice, cognac cream, and brown butter and was very good. My medium-rare filet came with a potato side, spinach, and bordelaise sauce, so tender. Others in the group ordered the pork belly and scallops, salmon, cod, risotto, and the steak. My one colleague went all-out and ordered both the Grilled New York (14oz.) AND the Filet Mignon (11oz.) on the same platter. Turns out that someone in the kitchen bet against our server Francisco that our guy would/wouldn't be able to finish them both...I witnessed it, you'd best believe that he did eat it all, and still had room for dessert. The dessert menu offered a polenta cake (pear), yuzu white chocolate mousse (almond, mango), banana cream pie, and assorted gelato and sorbets. I had the banana cream pie which came with coconut ice cream. This was a decently sized wedge/slice, a tart-like crust, not too sweet. The crushed banana chips under the coconut ice cream were a nice touch. I like that their seasonal menu is farm-to-fork, local, and fresh. Since we had a private room it wasn't too loud, and the staff even obliged and took some group photos for us after the meal for the visiting out-of-towners. Overall a nice night, taken care of well, delicious food and a great experience.
