Excellent fine dining place in New Orleans.
We ordered a few dishes and all of them were delicious.

We just wanted to say that we had an AMAZING time on Friday night. Bi was an amazing host/server/bartender and took incredible care of me and my family. I must not leave out the the food was FANTASTIC and we are coming back again before our vacation is over. Worth every penny! Again Bi was amazing a creating "raving fans", as he says , and Courtney was super helpful too.
Be the first to ReplyOur reservations were for 5:15 and we showed up a bit
Our reservations were for 5:15 and we showed up a bit early, both of the hostesses were very friendly and confirmed we were there to celebrate our birthdays and our recent wedding! Our table was decorated with confetti and a cute menu printed especially for my birthday. We started our meals with the MW-Tini which was refreshing and delicious and the French 75 which wasn't our favorite. I am gluten free so the first thing the server Ashley did was explain the menu and let me know that the menu is nearly all gluten free so to just pick whatever I wanted and the kitchen would make sure it was gluten free. We ordered crispy pork belly and the bluefish tuna tartare, the crispy pork belly was gluten free without modification while the tuna tartare just required a different chip. The pork belly was delicious and so flavorful. We wished we had ordered two of those dishes, the tartare was good as well but the pork belly was the star for our starters. For our entrees, I ordered the #1 bluefish tuna dish, it was perfectly cooked and it required no modification to be gluten free. My husband ordered the herb crusted flounder and he said it was delicious. For dessert, I ordered the crème brûlée which was spectacular and my husband got the salty malty ice cream pie with a cappuccino fins cocktail. He enjoyed both. We were celebrating our birthdays, Kenneth serenaded us and brought out a special birthday treat. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at GW Fins, the servers were very attentive and made sure we had a very special celebration. We enjoyed our night so much we plan to come back to NOLA just for another meal at GW Fins!

I saw several wonderful reviews about this place so decided to give it a try on my last day of my trip to NOLA. As soon as I and my sister walked in, the two hosts seemed like they just have dealt with some inconveniences with customers and they were talking and laughing at each other instead of showing composed manners with having many customers in front of them. I heard one of the hosts saying "I'm so mad right now" laughing and still looking at the other host. It was already a bad impression not to be greeted with smile and attentive manners from a high end restaurant with excellent rating. We ordered two appetizers (fried oysters and ceviche) and they were both good. Ceviche especially was great having perfect amount of citrus. The entree my sister ordered was tuna steak (can't remember the name) and I believe it was one of popular dishes from there. It was beautifully plated and the texture of fish was just right. I will give this entree five stars if I could rate separately. The dish I ordered was a swordfish and it was great until I found a small thread of fabric that looks like from hairnet or clothes. The manager comped my dish for the inconvenience which was nice but I'd rather fully enjoy my meal without finding stuff in my food. The drinks were great. It was very harmonious with all the ingredients. The server though I really can't say he was attentive to our table. The restaurant was getting busy at the time we dine in so I will give him benefit of the doubt as well as it was not his intention to overlook our needs. Overall, I enjoyed my time with my sister and she seemed to enjoy her food very much so I'll leave it at that. I'd like to give it another try for my next visit hoping we will have better experience.
Be the first to ReplyOur absolute favorite meal in New Orleans.
We grabbed a late reservation for our anniversary trip as our final nice meal, and it did not disappoint. We started with the calamari appetizer, went with the scalibut and seared yellowfin tuna entrees, and finished it off with the bread pudding. Every dish we had (and the fresh biscuits!) were excellent, with the two entrees being the highlight of our night. The restaurant added some really nice and appreciated touches for our anniversary. Our server Grayson was warm, professional, and friendly along with every staff member we encountered that night. We had gone to Mr. B's and Brennan's prior(and unfortunately had to cancel our Commander's Palace reservations so we couldn't compare it to that) and GW Fin's easily bested our other meals there. Highly recommend you have a meal here!

Everything is fresh and amazing. The staff know the menu and can swap out fish and sides as needed. Picture of the lobster dumplings. I inhaled the rest.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and service in upscale environment.
Highly recommended. We had the flounder filets. Excellent.

Love this place!! I've been there a few times and I have never been disappointed. My last visit I had the Black Sea bass. Beyond delicious!! The menu changes daily based on the fresh catch. I highly recommend this restaurant. Service is excellent and the atmosphere is incredible!!

The food, service, and ambiance were all great! It is a large space and liked the vibe. Lobster dumpling was very good. Pork belly - good, but wish it was more smokey. Parmesan flounder was very good as well as the Scallop Carbonara. Pork was just ok. I wish i had room for dessert as they all sounded really good.
Be the first to ReplyEverything about this place is 5 star! They are busy.
If you don't make a reservation, you're gonna wait. We got in queue for a seat at the bar, worked out great! Wine list, impressive. Salads, biscuits, entrees amazing and memorable. The wait staff were so nice! We will dine here again, next trip. Great place!!
Be the first to ReplyTop 2 Restaurant I have ever been to.
The yellow fin tuna was excellent (very flavorful). The blue fin tuna was very good as well. It tasted like a tuna steak. The lobster dumplings and fish and chips were excellent. The Scalibut was also very good. The service was excellent. The ambiance was very nice.

Great food! Super nice server! Lots of things I'd try next time on the menu. Sides came out at the end of dinner upon request but otherwise all good!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service! A must try.
We started off with bbq shrimp, strawberry salad, and our server sent out the lobster dumplings. Our entrees were the parm crusted sheepshead, sea scallops, and center cut sirloin. Our meals were prepared perfectly with little wait time. Our servers were very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. One of our servers was Clarence, who we had the pleasure of him serving us at Mr. B's earlier in the week. If you want a great server, ask to be seated in his section. We were too full for dessert but will be sure to cone back and save room for dessert. As a side note, they validate parking in a nearbyby parking deck, which is convenient.

Made reservations 10 days prior for a later time choice as was all that was available on OpenTable. Walking in for our later reservation a bit early and we were told we could go get a drink at bar, so we decided to head past a crowded lobby area and go to obtain a drink. 2 seats open and as we pull out chair, staff abruptly said that the chairs we were about to sit were " reserved". No sign, and we're told by hostess to go have a seat at bar. No worries... we push chairs back in ... stand for a bit as they were busy , but trying to get eye contact with bartender(s) but to no avail. As we stand there, a gentleman and his date knew we had just been told we couldn't sit at two open seats ( as now we know were reserved).. he says that he and his date were being seated to dining room and we could have their seats. I thanked him, they gathered up their things, empty glasses and paid bill still there and as they step away, my wife and I begin to sit down in these offered empty seats ... and again we're abruptly told.. we can't sit there as those too are " reserved" . Again, no signs , no little tent placards ... so we get up again and watch these two empty seats for a bit and eventually they are taken by , I guess, the people that " reserved" them. Finally after still no service... my wife stated she's going to go back near lobby by the front door and wait with rest of patrons coming and going. I then move to near end of bar grab eyes of a bartender and order 2 drinks. They arrive and I close out my tab and I take them over by my wife and we drink them near hostess stand. Normally, I don't give a negative review but the vibe when you walk in isn't inviting. It's actually stressful. I expected more seeing that this is one of the best or better venues to dine. We enjoy fine dining in Cincinnati and don't mind paying for it... but the first part of our experience here was less than pleasant. We do get seated, nice place, but nothing breath taking. Staff seemed overwhelmed at times but our server was a gem. Stated she was extremely busy as we could see...and told her to just take her time...we were in no hurry. She actually thanked us for that. Dinner was ordered , timing was excellent, no rush. Eating utensils replaced as should between servings as needed. Crumbs scrapped off white linen as needed. Little touches we appreciated. Food was extremely nice. Perfect choices as we took the recommendations from server. Overall experience..., not a warm feeling upon entering venue, decor is a bit mundane from what I expected.. however service and food were excellent, would we come back? Probably ......
Be the first to ReplyNot your usual tourist trap, like most of the restaurants
Not your usual tourist trap, like most of the restaurants in the heart of the French Quarter. This is a very refined seafood place just off Bourbon Street. Yellowfin tuna, grouper, and "scalibut" (scallops plus halibut on a bed of risotto) were all excellent. Wine list is extensive and surprisingly reasonably priced. Expensive, but what isn't at this level in NOLA? Don't even think about bringing your car -- parking is impossible in the Quarter. Take a cab, Uber/Lift, or walk.

We had a fabulous meal at GW Fins! It was a highly recommended spot for a 30th Birthday and we were happy with our decision. All of our entrees were delicious. The biscuits are TO DIE FOR! The pretzel pie was awesome and the confetti and specialized menu for the birthday girl was much appreciated.

Shrimp gumbo excellent flavor in a mild brown gravy poured over your rice table side. Salty Carmel Cheese Cake tasted like an ice cream pie - wow!

The quality of the fish is perfect, and I loved the variety of fish that I haven't tried before. I tried to get reservations before but I couldn't over a period of 3 days so my expectations were high. I usually love ceviche, but theirs isn't great. It came with tiny pieces of fish in a lot of liquid that more closely resembled a cold soup than ceviche. The pieces of fried sweet potato were crumbs and too small to put ceviche on. The main course was okay, but nothing special, the presentation was sloppy, and was obviously sitting under a lamp for a while. I don't think food justified the prices, or the dress code.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and service.
Our waiter (Barkesdale?) was excellent. I highly recommend the scallops and the bread pudding desert. Not cheap but you get what you pay for.

I was very impressed by the wine choices, for a NOLA restaurant/bar, but the Scallobit and Salty Malty brought me back for a second visit on the same trip. Highly recommended.

Wow. This restaurant checks off every box. A as a group of 8 we were sat promptly at our reservation time. The restaurant is beautiful with high energy. From the food to the small details, we had an exceptional dining experience. The host kindly swapped out our white linens for black, as we were all wearing black. The menu had a special shout out to our bride as we are in town for a bachelorette party. The server assistants and food runners cleared and crumbed tables to a T after every course. Drinks were 10/10. The food was fresh and the kitchen executed our 8 top, two courses, within 90 minutes which is so hard to do so shout out to the back of house! Jackie was professional, knowledgeable, attentive, personable, and overall the kind of server anyone could ask for. A vibrant gentlemen came to our table with a special treat for the bride to be and sang to her, that small detail made our entire night!! As someone who has worked in fine dining for 10 years, you notice and appreciate all the little details that truly make a restaurant special. I would recommend this place to absolutely anyone. Run to this place and have one of the best dining experiences you've ever had. Thank you Jackie and team!
