Halls’ quality speaks for itself. From the quality of the food to the quality of the service, they’re arguably the best in Greenville. What prompted me to write this review was that our server (Victor) wrote my wife and me a handwritten letter and mailed it to us to congratulate us on the birth of our son. That is just a level above and made us feel so special.

Wow! What a fantastic restaurant! I took one of my moms here for her birthday as she had always wanted to try it and this is my new favorite restaurant. The steak just melts in your mouth. The sides were fantastic. The drinks were strong and flavorful! The staff treats you exceptionally well and really go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and to take care of you to give you the best dining experience possible. Bella was our server and she was just as sweet as she could be. She really delivered exceptional and exemplary service for us. She even took the cake I brought in for my mom for us till we were ready for it and then helped with the candles. I can't speak highly enough about her and how fabulous she was. The management was very friendly as well. This is my new go to favorite restaurant and I can't recommend it enough! Go try it and see how amazing this great restaurant is.

I visited Halls Chophouse tonight for the first time with my boys and future daughter-in-law. We were celebrating my birthday and came because I wanted to try Halls after many recommendations. Our waiter ,I believe his name was James, was so knowledgeable, friendly and charming. The view was great, the staff attentive and the restaurant itself was very nice. The food- amazing! I had a filet with a peppercorn sauce and it was so delicious. We ordered 2 sides- Mac and cheese and a pepper jack cheese corn side. I loved the Mac and cheese... full of flavor. My family loved the corn side (it was a tad spicy for me. But I like very mild food). They offered me a free dessert for my birthday and I decided on the cookie skillet dessert. This dessert was top notch and I didn't leave a crumb!!! My son got a banana pudding cheesecake and he said it was delicious. I would definitely give Halls Chophouse of Greenville a 10 out of 10 for both service and food. This restaurant is worth splurging on yourself for a special occasion!

Everything was wonderful (five stars) about this place except for two things, and because of these two things, I seriously doubt I'd return. First, the great: The restaurant is beautiful. Lots of great energy, but also not too loud where you can't have great dinner conversation. The food--also ahhhmazing. Loved our steaks and sides. We went for my husband's birthday, and he got several "happy birthday" wishes from staff, and they brought us a complimentary glass of champagne. Very nice touch. The two disappointing things: 1. They are proud of their Hall's Old Fashioneds at $20 a glass, and my husband who appreciates a good Old Fashioned was disappointed, especially for the steep price. 2. The service---this was the main reason I would not want to return. Friendly service but with an unspoken expectation that you should be ready to order shortly after being seated and the food came out quick (they brought our steaks before we even finished our salads). We noticed this with other nearby tables, as well. The tag team of servers assigned to our table and those around us obviously are about turning their tables. My husband and I both felt the tension with those of us who were there to enjoy a leisurely evening out at a high end restaurant. However, if you want to go to a really nice restaurant and be in and out in a hurry, you'll love your experience, and you'll definitely make the servers happy.

Always a great experience here! I come for the martinis and chilled lobster tails! Sometimes a steak or two and it's cooked to perfection every time! Love the live music for happy hour on the week days too. Sunday brunch always has live music and the singer is amazing!

(Party of 9) This is my first time here (My 2nd time visiting SC due to a business trip) AMAZING FOOD, SERVICE, Everything. We will move to SC shortly, after that, so I'm sure I will come here with my family.
Unfortunately, this place was a miss for me.
I'm not sure what the hype is. I went on a date here and both of our steaks were rare when we ordered medium rare. I'm on the carnivore diet, so I eat steak a lot. I just was not impressed at all. Also, we had to send our appetizer back because they put the sauce on it that we asked for it without because of a diet restriction. It also was extremely loud with a band and we were trying to have a more intimate dinner on a Sunday evening.

Spent a day in Greenville and had the pleasure of eating here. What an absolutely beautiful restaurant with Rich Wood Decor and a beautiful bar. From the moment you walk in you, Experience, high-quality customer service from the hostess bus people, server, Food, runners, and management The food was phenomenal. Look at the pictures for the ratings on the Food. What's more impressive besides, the incredible Food and the great ambience. Cece was their customer service. When they were bringing the food. We literally had six people at the table at the same time. It was like poetry In Motion.
Top Tier Service
This is always a 5 star experience. The food is really good. If you get a good seat there’s an amazing view, and the staff is always friendly and professional. I eat here every time I’m in Greenville
The ambiance and the service was very good.
My husbands steak was overcooked. He brought it to the attention on one of the servers and they inspected with their little flashlight. They were not going to give in and agree that it was overcooked so my husband finally told them it was fine. They pretty much make a spectable tableside if you are not happy. I ordered the rib eye medium rare. Slightly overcooked and very tough. They ask you to cut through the middle of the steak while they are watching. It took me a minute to cut through while the wait staff watched. The place is pricey. The steaks are not good.
Continues to be the Best
Always an amazing and wonderful dining experience. Went with a somewhat large group of 8 to celebrate and, as in the past, were not disappointed. Our server, Jamie, was attentive, knowledgeable and very pleasant. Food and service were excellent. Entire staff makes you feel welcome and special. Always recommend this place!!
Not good enough for a foodie!
I'm a foodie and gourmet cook. I requested that our food be to be served piping hot. When my duck arrived, it was warm and had to be reheated. The brussel sprouts were bitter, salty and overcooked. My husband's scallops were excellent. The calamari was very good. The crab soup did not disappoint. Good Manhattans. This is the 2nd time my husband and I had to eat separately while we waited for my dinner to be reheated. Eric was a wonderful waiter. A dessert was comped by the manager. We will not return a third time.
SLIGHTLY DISAPPOINTED
Not sure what was going on the Sunday night we ate here - server was good, but the food came out very slowly! Took way too long in between courses. We did ask for a table with a view which resulted in them seating 4 of us at a 6 top - realized that might have switched who our server was, but would not have thought that contributed to the timing of the food coming out. Our she crab soup, Caesar salad, filet, creamed corn, mashed potatoes were wonderful! They brought out complimentary glasses of champagne after finishing our dessert - honestly wish that would have come out much earlier in the evening when we were waiting for food. Might have helped our mood a little. Have to say with the price point of our check, I tend to feel this restaurant is overrated. (Interesting a local person we talked to during this trip said the same thing, but we decided to see for ourselves.)
Food, Service, Ambiance – Halls Greenville did NOT disappoint!!!
On my first trip to Greenville I asked several of my friends (how have the same taste and style as me) what are the “most visit” restaurants. Three people, in completely different conversations immediately said “HALLS CHOPHOUSE!” We made 6:30 PM reservations for our birthday dinner and honestly, as someone who has worked in healthcare for 18 years where we go out to some VERY nice restaurants, I went in with VERY high expectations on both the food and the service. For context there was a time where, for about 7 years of my career, Maestros was a Tuesday dinner and Nobu would be a Wednesday dinner, etc. I have to say, they did NOT disappoint! First of all, the ambiance is a mixture of high-end old-world luxury that still feels “comfy”. Staff greets you with smiles and communicates well with you and not once did we have to wait for service when we had a question or wanted to order something. We had Kyle who is new to fine dining, and he is great! Eager to learn, very helpful, made some great suggestions and represented the brand VERY well! My boyfriend is a bourbon steward, and we asked for the general manager (Justin) to come over so we could compliment him on his selection of unique bourbons and whiskeys, and this immediately led to a great conversation about the history of the steakhouse, the other locations we could enjoy on our travels, and even the area itself. So, I would have to say whether it’s a business meal, a special occasion, or a fun night out, if you’re looking for fine dining and a great experience, you will find it at Halls!
Delicious spot for the 1%
Great place for lunch or dinner on someone else’s dime. The food is delicious. Been there 10 or more times. Glad I had a gift card or someone else paid as this place is too expensive for the middle class.
Poorly cooked steak leads to overall meal disappointment
Great disappointment! My steak was overcooked - ordered med rare, came out medium. Of course the restaurant agreed to make again. When the new steak came out, it was cooked correctly inside but outside was barely cooked - no searing at all. It almost looked like the steak had been baked in an oven or microwaved. Because of the lack of searing, the steak had very little taste. Of course, when my steak came out the second time, all of the sides were cold. For dessert, I ordered the lemon sorbet which tasted fine but was partially melted - swimming in liquid. My friend (2 people) seem to enjoy their meal so I did not complain. If I would have been there by myself, I would have sent everything back. I paid for the entire meal - what a waste of over $500!!!
Quality wasn’t there
We went on Friday 3/14. We wanted an upscale chophouse meal. The staff was attentive. The calamari and onion soup was awesome. I ordered lamb chops. They were 58.00. They were tough and chewy, although the flavor was good. Definitely not worth the money. The wine was pricey, as expected, but was excellent. Won’t be back the quality of food just doesn’t fit the price or the hype.
outstand food and service
Went here for a SUN brunch, which also happened to be my birthday....outstanding food quality and service. The place was pretty full. My wife had a mimosa, she crab soup, biscuits and gravy, and a side of bacon. I had a margarita and the 8 oz filet with eggs and potatoes. We split a huge slice of chocolate cake - we took home half of it.
Ambiance was lovely.
Service was friendly and quick. Food was out standing I had the scallops and my husband had the aged ribeye and asparagus!
Average at best
We had a previous marginal experience with food quality and wanted to give it a second chance. While the room is attractive and the staff welcoming and accommodating, the shrimps were way overcooked, steaks overcooked and dried out. Lack of seasoning on every item ordered. Quality not commensurate with the price point.
The wait staff is very attentive and punctual with drinks.

This place is a true gem, one of the best steakhouses I’ve ever been to… Amazing teamwork from the service… Incredibly good steak… Excellent wine martini, and champagne!

We have been a regular patron of Halls Chophouse at both Charleston and Greenville locations. We have always loved it and told all our friends and family how much we have loved it in the past but for the first time we felt let down and left disappointed. No I didn't say we were celebrating any special occasion but have never had to in the past to make us feel like extra valued guests. Why should I have to lie to make us feel special? We were actually told that at the end of our meal "that we didn't say it was a special occasion". What are they thinking?? We always bragged to our friends how special Halls was and how special Halls always made us feel. This time was different. Maybe they are hurting cause of the economy or falling on hard times. I'm not sure. But it's definitely not the same as our last visits ...after bragging and bragging and telling our friends how special Halls was and how they went above and beyond and made us always feel so very special each and every visit ...this time was definitely different : after a dozen times there, we did not feel special nor felt we were spending our hard earned money on a special meal. Here is a copy of our receipt and it was over $200.00 per person. All we asked was to feel like we mattered. We didn't this time. We have been regulars to Halls many many times over the years, but next time we will consider another high-end steakhouse before considering Halls. I'm so disappointed it let us down and embarrassed in front or friends after bragging how Halls was different. It wasn't this time. This was just another run of the mill standard steakhouse. I think Halls is perhaps hurting cause of the economy and I can no longer rationalize spending so much money for an average meal. We will go to Longhorns before considering Halls and feel better about spending hard money on steak. Yes, the steak was good and the waiter was good but was it worth over $200 per person - ABSOLUTELY not. I can spend $30 on a steak at Longhorns and feel much better about my purchase. We always use to have a manger come over and double check how our meal was and ensure our visit was first rate. That never happened this timed. We never saw a manger nor were we ever asked how they could make our visit special. I told the waiter how disappointed we were when we paid our bill and at that point a manager did come over but it was too little too late at that point. And why should I have to call this out in front of our guests that we bought to Halls expecting a better experience. This was a first and a truly disappointment at Halls Chophouse and we were left feeling let down and cheated and embarrassed. Sorry Halls you just lost a long and very devoted fan. We will choose Ruth Chris or even Longhorns next time before shelling out so much money on Halls Chophouse. Halls is just not worth the money anymore.

Our family (7 of us: 4 adults, 3 children...seated upstairs) celebrated Mother's Day, yesterday, at Halls Chophouse, Greenville, SC. Our food was exceptional, but the wait staff (Katina, our main server and Austin assisted her) were truly "perfection." They were friendly, very attentive and personalized our experience over and over again. Nikki, the on duty manager, was so hospitable and made us not only feel welcome...but very special. We, also, know, firsthand, that the restaurant considers their employees "family" and care very much for one another. Thank you again and again for a wonderful dining experience. We look forward to returning. (RIP, Cheyenne)

I don't understand why this establishment doesn't have a 5-star average rating! Their service is outstanding. The food is perfection. The ambiance is top notch. I definitely recommend Halls for any special occasion!

Just moved from Houston with some of the best 5 Star restaurants in the country. Halls Chophouse rates right there with any of them.
Okay
The service was very good. The atmosphere for an intimate dining experience was marginal. We had a party of 4 and didn’t have room to move the bread for the appetizers. This reminded me when we lived in Philadelphia and had Bookbinders experience. It is all about the tourists. Food fine but not for the locals who want a different dining atmosphere.

Everything was fun and really had a steakhouse feel to it. The ribeye was a tad disappointing for a prime cut of beef but the filet was lights out fantastic.

We love their hospitality and ambiance. Really beautiful place with top service. Stakes are the best. Highly recommend getting your kind of cut of steak and rack of lamb. Halls chophouse salad was amazing. The crispy and crunchy bacon bites add an additional flavor. If you haven't been, try it out asap.

They recently lost their long term chef and the replacement is lacking.
I order a bourbon Manhattan no cherry anything on the rocks.
Bartender makes a really bad joke about it's been a long time since you had a cherry maybe you should. Then gives me my drink up. When I said that's okay I'll just drink this he makes a big deal out of it. The. Opens the dishwasher pulls out a piping hot glass dumps my drink in it with ice and laughed about it. 20$ manhattan in Greenville with a douche bartender. Never again.
Sunday Brunch
We visited last weekend to check and see if it would be a good place to take grandma last weekend. I had the She crab soup and hubby had the fried green tomatoes. The soup had a generous portion of crab and lots of sherry! It was terrific! Hubby had the fried green tomatoes that had corn, bacon. It was great also. We didn't have enough room for anything big so when asked if we wanted dessert it seemed like a good idea. We shared a piece of chocolate cake and even had to take some home!

We made our reservation with trepidation after reading some of the other reviews. We had eaten at the Chophouse in Columbia & enjoyed it so much, we decided to give this location a try even with the off putting reviews. We are glad we did. We all had the fillets which were very good as were the Caesar salads. We also had the loaded mash potatoes ( excellent), the onion rings- we’d pass on those next time- they seemed like maybe they were of the frozen food variety. Our server brought us the corn dish “on the house” because she insisted we’d love it. Our servers were very knowledgeable & attentive. The wine list had a good selection though we found the prices to be higher than some other restaurants. Note- we were about 25 minutes early so we sat at table in the bar for a drink while we waited on our table. We found the service in the bar to be slow .
excellent food and service for lunch
Birthday celebration with my better half for a superb lunch on a Saturday. We were seated next to the window - great view of the Reedy river. We each had a drink. I had a bowl of the most wonderful seafood chowder, and the meatloaf for an entree. My wife had a cup of she crab soup and the beef kabobs. Dessert was comped - had raspberry sorbet (we were stuffed from the food). Service from Bella was great. The food was excellent.
Perfect in every way.
We were in town for a show at the Peace center and decided to have a nice dinner here. We could not have been happier with the experience. Service was impeccable. The food was amazing. We sat in the large dining area (30’ ceilings and large window overlooking the Reedy river) and the atmosphere was perfect. To give an idea of the level of service - we had leftovers that I was going to walk back to the hotel before the show. They insisted on keeping the leftovers in their kitchen for us to pick up after the show on the way back to the hotel. Saved us time and stress…… and got them another sale of an after dinner bourbon at the bar.
The bad reviews are telling the truth
I am so glad to read another review another long times regular of Hall's confirming our opinion the food quality has severely declined. In our opinion, decline is too generous. It has nosedived into the depths of a "diner" restaurant. We too had brunch and the hamburger was not edible, just as the other reviewer opined. We gave it another chance, and the caesar salad was wilted and fishy and we sent it back. We gave them yet another chance (because our friends chose it) just his past Friday evening, this time for dinner. The steak was less than Costco quality - $75.00 wet aged ribeye was hideous. The she-crab soup was watery and disgusting. The oysters Rockefeller was distinctly fishy and not fresh. Our table of four was appalled by what we were served. I will tell you, the service was impeccable. But when you have a classy/elegant server putting a plate before you which could be served at a dive bar, you are going to be displeased. Our four top table bill was over $600.00, and we were all terribly disappointed. We boxed everything up and sent it home for our friends' dogs. We literally left Hall's to go to another restaurant to eat because we ate two bites of what we were served. Shame on you Hall's for cutting corners to deal with the inflation era in which we find ourselves. Raise your prices and continue to serve 5 star quality food or else go out of business. Or did you sell the company brand and the new company is riding out corporate profits on the Halls impeccable name.? That perhaps makes more sense. We'll see over time. Thank you other reviewers for telling the truth. We will NEVER be back.
Declining And Disgusting
We have lived in Greenville our entire lives. We USED to love Hall's. Brunch, Dinner, and Lunch.. You name it we were there. Let me please say, straight from the front, the service each and every time is Perfection. I can tell you we honestly go once a week for one of their services. Mostly Brunch and Dinner. We have watched it severely decline in just the last 2 months. The food is awful!!! I mean awful. The Ceasar salad is warm, fishy and the lettuce so wilted. All food comes out so fast so it must be prepared in the back. It did not used to be that way at all. It was such a wonderful dining experience with expert quality food. Not what a steak house of this caliber should be now. The steaks are just ok lately where they were once superb. My husband and I had a cheeseburger for brunch just last week and truly it was not edible. The bread and the burger were both so dry. It was disgusting and neither of us barely finished even a fourth of our burgers before we just threw in the towel. The bacon we ordered with our bloody Mary's was so hard that it about broke a tooth and it was swimming in oil. Gross. We decided it was an "Off" day and gave it yet another try a week later. Again, no change. This past experience just got worse with the Oysters Rockefeller. Tasteless yet very fishy. Like I said, we have enjoyed this place for many years but our memories end here with today. For those prices anyone would expect top quality food. Very bitter sweet for us and it's hard to actually leave this review. Food quality needs a HUGE overhaul. Somebody needs to be in that kitchen yesterday!!!!!!! However, I will praise the staff and entertainment for Brunch. They never fail to deliver. Hopefully, they will change up the kitchen staff VERY soon. The food is down right nasty and uneditable. Needless and sadly to say our Sunday ritual will be changing .

* BraveCloth47 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to BraveCloth47 for any questions Peter may have as BraveCloth47 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* BraveCloth47 now uses their connections at Halls Chophouse Greenville to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If BraveCloth47 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, BraveCloth47 receives the $200 reward which is credited to BraveCloth47's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
