A magical place with incredible views! The seaside
A magical place with incredible views! The seaside bungalows are cozy and well-appointed, and spaced out enough that the place felt almost empty (in the best sense). The bungalows have climate control, but we didn't need it. Below our window was a grassy cliff over the ocean, with the surf roaring day and night and a perpetual cool breeze. The food at the on-site breakfast restaurant and the nearby dinner restaurant was excellent, as was the service throughout. We enjoyed the pools and a craft class, but the best part was the view of the ocean and sky at sunrise. All this, and it puts you within a short drive of beautiful places like Haleakala National Park and Waianapanapa State Park for hiking, swimming, and exploration. Maybe the best destination resort we've ever stayed at! Make it part of any visit to Maui!

The Hana Hyatt Resort breakfast was great! I had the breakfast meal, my daughter got the yogurt & fruit plate, my son got the Mochiko pancakes and my wife had the steak and eggs. I sampled all and thought the pancakes were the best! Our waitress was very pleasant and even brought my daughter extra watermelon cause she asked for more. The view was amazing and price on par with a resort. If you are ever in Maui check out Hana Hyatt Resort!

... It's a Hyatt. Don't save your points for the Maui Andaz, there are (comparable enough) resorts in Wailea. Save points for The Hana Maui, it is magical! The bungalows have air conditioning now but still no tv; you won't miss it. If you are going to Maui take the road to Hana, it is not "about the journey" it's about the Hana Maui! Get there sleep there wake up there pet the cats.

This is the most peaceful place I have ever stayed or visited. We splurged since it was our honeymoon and got a bungalow with the jacuzzi. We sat out there every night and just marveled at the stars. We've never seen so many--and I grew up in the Midwest. The pool bar mixes the greatest mai Thai. Both of the pools are divine. The infinity pool tended to be a little more popular, so my husband and I enjoyed the other pool more often. The Hula class was so much fun! I can't figure out how to review the restaurant independently, but I'll say it was too. The first night I had the steak frites. The peppers were so good- more spicy than the Typical batch of shishito peppers. The fries were perfectly predictable. Basic and unpretentious. So phenomenal. My husband had the chicken and he had no complaints. The second time we went back, I had the special, which was a New Zealand Lamb chop. It was one of the best things I had while at any resort in Hawaii. My husband had the burger and upgraded to hurricane dries. The fries were even better dressed up, especially if you like furikake. The burger was perfect I'm told. I did edit my lamb chop to have a salad instead of roasted cauliflower, which I was glad I did, but only because I love salad and hate cauliflower in all of its forms. This resort restaurant was the exact opposite of our experience in Wailea--it was worth the money and a great experience. And before I forget--save room for the cheesecake, and enjoy it with a nice Mai Thai. It's the best dessert i found on the entire island of Maui, and we drove the whole thing. Edited to add: pictures of the grounds required no editing to avoid people. This is a quiet, secluded, luxurious experience that connects you with nature while still giving you a full spa bathroom and A/C (at least in the bungalows lol). I've seriously never seen so many stars in my life, and I grew up in North Dakota. Seeing the stars made me better empathize with what it really meant for Polynesian explorers to memorize the sky to travel the ocean. This resort is beautiful and connects you to the land and the people. And as a Catholic, the best part was the Church is right across the street! A brilliant walk!

We loved the pools and fitness center as well as the dining room and bar. Will be back!
Be the first to ReplyWe've been coming to this resort for over 7 years before
We've been coming to this resort for over 7 years before Hyatt took it over. It's gone really downhill! The employees are kind and considerate but they are not in sync at all. We left four messages for the Concierge to call us because every time we went to her desk she wasn't there. Hence we missed getting to two of the parks, even though we have a car to drive ourselves because we were not told that we needed to make reservations for our hikes., I had two phone calls to the spa to ask a question because the girl couldn't answer at the front desk. They never answered the question. Therefore, I never got a service there. The new chef has changed the menu to reduce it to very few selections and none can be made gluten or dairy free as he removed gluten-free soy sauce and got rid of the designated flyer other than one salad and one altered appetizer and one main dish none other can be eaten by somebody with a gluten allergy or celiac. Work in the restaurant as far as the waitresses are very disappointed in the new chef, and have made that known to us The dessert menu makes absolutely no sense you have to ask questions for everything. For example, one of the items says cookie dough, and when you ask what it is, it's actually a chocolate chip cookie with ice cream and some syrup on the top. This is just an example of one description on a very lousy detailed menu for dessert. The grounds are not the way they used to be. You can smell the fermented fruit around and it's winter time so it shouldn't be all over the ground, smelling like rot and sour. We had a smart TV in our room that couldn't be hooked up to the Wi-Fi and it was spectrum and we couldn't purchase anything through spectrum to watch because there was no account that we could pay it on and there was no technical assistance that could help us, and they let us know that none of their TVs are connected to the Wi-Fi, which makes absolutely no sense As I said, we've been here for years and we will never return to this resort after this trips experience --- pretty sad!
Be the first to ReplyStunning views but horrible service.
Every touch point from check in, the restaurant and check out was very poor. The staff here is horrendous. They are not accommodating and frankly, they ALL seemed unorganized and unfamiliar with what they do. It doesn't feel like the staff takes any pride in what they do.

Whether you drive the Road to Hana or fly in to the resort, make sure you get there! It's in my opinion one of the most peaceful places on earth. The infinity pool can suck you in for an entire day and Marlene the poolside bartender will check on you often to refill your mai tai and make sure you've eaten. There's a bar menu with snacks and lunch items such as grilled cheese but you can also order from the restaurant and they'll deliver it poolside. The spa is very nice as well. Carley is the manager there and she's done an excellent job with the service and retail offerings. There are several local products available from shorts and bathing suits to candles and lotions. I'd recommend Helene if you're going to get a massage. She's lived in the area for many years and has some good stories on history she'll share should you want to chat vs just relax during your treatment. There are some fun food trucks, (shout out to da mean bean coffee truck) a general store and a couple shops within walking distance. The property is rather large so if you don't feel like walking, call guest services and they'll send Louie or Lo down to pick you up on the golf cart. Make time to wander through the gift shop and the art gallery. Alicia Mae is very knowledgeable about the local art and artists and is interesting to chat with about the various pieces and island art history. We picked up a few gifts between the resort and shops in town. If you choose to fly in don't stress over transportation. Between the golf cart, the shuttle and the close proximity to various shops and food, you may find you don't need a vehicle. However the resort does rent jeeps should you desire. We've always stayed in the bungalows and enjoy our morning tea as we watch the sunset. It's a sad day when it's time to leave. We cannot wait to go back!

Beautiful property, friendly native service, quiet serene resort. No tv, no air conditioning, but we left windows open with fans on and we were fine. Arrived at night so we didn't see the complete heavenly view of the infinity pool overlooking the ocean. We woke up early to catch the sunrise; there's chairs near the cliff to view the endless sights of breathtaking views of the sunlight hitting the ocean as it passed through the morning clouds. The property is over 70 years old but well maintained for high end guest or travelers like us that got stuck in Hana after surviving the "Road to Hana". There's a restaurant near the property that delivers but nothing much more in the very small town. Overall this property is for you to regain your sense of being and decompress from everything.

Stayed here during my honeymoon and it was AMAZING! The staff is so nice. We had an ocean view room and we were shocked at how big the rooms were! We slept with the back door open and listened to the sound of the waves, and woke up to watch the sunrise on our balcony. I love that the staff will drive you around on a golf cart so you don't have to worry about your car while at the resort. They have activities for guests, like morning yoga, but unfortunately we weren't there long enough to do much. A nice perk is the free laundry facilities, since we were traveling for a few weeks it was so nice to be able to throw in a quick load of laundry here. I will ABSOLUTELY stay here again if I ever find myself in Hana again (hopefully I do!)
