Too much luxury out of proportion with the quality
Dear users, I involuntarily came across this bar which immediately makes it clear that you can only sit down (no counter). Skyrocketing prices for things that other bars commonly do (e.g. cappuccinos, orange juice, coffee...) the cost of a breakfast is practically the same as that of a lunch
Be the first to ReplyGreat place but rude waiter
We visited this wonderful shop yesterday on the eve of Christmas! Two couples, however, were very dissatisfied with the behavior of a rude gentleman who served us He was showing his displeasure very strongly because we didn't get the dishes he suggested! He was insulting and terribly rude to the whole group. Arrogant and unpleasant It would be good for the store's reputation to remove this person! You all know who he is….
Be the first to Reply€8 for an evening coffee is not justified even by a glorious story.
Initially my opinion on this place was much more severe but then, once I delved into the history of the bar, it softened although the overall evaluation can only be poor and I will immediately tell you why: 2 coffees, 1 shot of grappa, 1 shot of bitters and 1 bottle of water there is no valid reason why they should charge €56! Having established this sacrosanct concept, I will tell you about my experience. We were staying in an adjacent hotel in Via Veneto and as soon as we arrived, at the exit of the underground car park of Villa Borghese, immediately on the right we saw this old-fashioned, borderline well-kept sideshow. Before going up to the room we wanted a coffee but in front of the bar it was written "no coffee shop at the counter" so we decide to sit outside. They ask us what we want and we answer 4 coffees which we pay €5 each for a total of €20. We turn up our noses but we pay and say thank you. Back in my room I look for this bar on TripAdvisor to inform customers that it is a tourist-pleasing place and so I discover the glorious past of Harry's bar. So in the evening after dinner, we decide that €5 for a coffee in this particular bar could also be fine and we stop again at the outside tables. In the evening the price of coffee rises to €8 without me having any evidence of this from the prices displayed which I honestly haven't seen. Together with the coffees we had bitters and water and in total a peaceful after dinner cost the same as a pizza, €56. It didn't seem right to me at all because in the end I repeat, outside it is a very normal tent of a bar like many others and the coffee and the service are average! From there I write a first really negative review, I found it terrible that evening! Not happy and not being able to think about it the next day I tell myself that it will probably be special inside and so before leaving we decide to go in and have another coffee (again in the morning we paid €5). This was the only positive note of Harry's bar, inside it is very nice and well kept, elegant and chic, you can actually breathe the air of well-being and tranquility typical of the Dolce Vita of the past! But of a time indeed... Today all this at Harry's is just a distant memory which does not justify a coffee for €8, a water for €4 or a bitter of the boss €14... The extra star compared to the first review is because after all when I go to these places I always think that they are free to ask what they want because if people want to go to a place that was so iconic, it is right that they pay what they are asked for. However, the prices here are so absurd that not even this justifies them, if they had been just half the price they would have been fine. Furthermore, I did not like the sign at the entrance "no toilet" and the difference in prices between the evening and the morning, they clash with the elegance and refinement they would like to convey, it is anything but refined and elegant to deny a bathroom in a public place and perhaps also illegal.
Be the first to ReplyNo toilet
A place that says No toilet outside deserves no further comments. I think it's superfluous that it has a nice environment
Be the first to ReplyNot very satisfactory
The quality is very poor, the cuisine does not satisfy the customer's request, the staff forces the sale of the menu, it is not advisable even if it has a tradition but they are not up to maintaining quality and courtesy
Be the first to ReplyClassic Harry’s
We enjoy Harry’s in a number of venues, and have been here a number of times over the last 20 years. Great classic bar! We went on Valentine’s Day, and were pleased there was no “special menu” jack-up nonsense for Valentine’s. They did have an excellent cabaret singer which made it special. The food and service were excellent! And the cocktails were more reasonable than what they are charging at the hotels around the Via Veneto. A very nice romantic evening!
Be the first to ReplyA perfect evening tonight.
Excellent friendly service from meet and greet to departure. The food was impeccable and perfectly prepared and accompanied by delightful live entertainment.
Be the first to Reply€32 for 4 cappuccinos!!!
€32 for 4 cappuccinos. We couldn't believe how extortionate the prices were. Please read the menul & price list before setting down unlike we did !!
Be the first to ReplyHistoric bar, but expensive
We went for cocktails and stayed for a glass of wine with a sharing plate of meats and cheese. Value for money it is not, but the drinks, food and service were all good. Be prepared for a large bill!
Be the first to ReplyWORST, RUDE, BELIGERENT, ARROGANT, SERVICE EVERRRRR!!!
The WORST service. The waiter was so rude, belligerent and arrogant from the start. I think his name was SAMMY. It was my first time going to a Harry's Bar and was so looking forward to going with my mom and had planned it for months before, so after being talked down to (where I was politely asking a question about something on the menu), talked to in a hostile manner and made to feel like we weren't good enough for the place, it made me so embarrassed to have taken my 74 year old mom there, I turned beet red and started crying. I was really surprised they were so snobby the way they were. I know we should of left after our drink order which was Ok I guess and I had no help from the waiter on what he suggest since I thought they were known for their drinks (I felt like I was bothering him about it and he suggested a moscow mule and was ready to write it down but I was like WAIT A MINUTE! I ordered a Tom Collins instead and my mom ordered a caipirinha), BUT I felt like if we left, they would win lol, plus I was determined that he not ruin our evening after I'd plan for us to go AND we walked all the way there and were hungry. SO we persevered because he was only 1 man and we both spoke up and my mom shushed him lol and I snapped my fingers at him which I've NEVER done in my life to anybody but we were trying to show him who was boss. It really shouldn't of come down to that though. I still felt sick in the pit of my stomach when I did it and he complied but was angry about it lol. This should of been a fun night in Rome enjoying a meal with my mom but no. Unfortunately it was an experience I did learn from by speaking up but never want to experience again. He even said we weren't allowed to share a salad (which he said was small but was really big) and were going to charge us for sharing! I've never heard of such a thing but my mom ordered it anyways and we made sure when we ate it to share it right in front of him haha! They didn't charge us, surprisingly! The food was OK but very overpriced which I expected and the interior was very dated. The waiter was so pissed at us that he switched with another who was WAY more nicer and I feel like he knew that Sammy was being really rude to us from the start. He suggested the apple desert which was really good. I've eaten at the most expensive restaurants from Beverly Hills to Madrid Spain at Botin, the oldest restaurant in the world (who were SO kind and was such an amazing experience) and have ALWAYS been treated with the utmost kindness and best service at these places, so I was pretty SHOCKED to experience this for the first time in my life. Also at the end of the night, the maître d was looming over our table trying to intimidate my mom to tip them which was another thing that angered me and was so unprofessional. We also complained to the maître d about SAMMY the waiter and he apologized for him but who knows if he was going to do anything about it, which apparently now I see we're not the only ones who unfortunately experienced bad service from this place. Yes we should of just walked out after drinks but at the time I just didn't want to make a scene and I thought honestly it was all in my head because I couldn't believe people would treat their customers like this in such a "fancy" place. I guess I was naïve. My mom was ready to walk out lol. I'm kind of proud we stuck it out though. After they changed waiters of us, we were able to relax a bit more too, was able to finally laugh and tried to enjoy the rest of the evening. I really wish I read the negative reviews though beforehand but I guess now we have a story to tell and we'll NEVER be eating at ANY Harry's Bars ever again!!!!
Be the first to ReplyPoor
This place taught us the importance of checking prices while in Rome. Nice enough bar not far from where we were staying but €38 for two 33cl bottles of Peroni and 2 glasses of wine? I don’t think so. The location isn’t great so if you want to spend that amount, take yourself off to one of the many roof top bars and at least have a lovely view of the city not a road and pedestrian crossing. Lesson learned though and we never got stung again.

If Dick Turpin was Italian, he would run Harrys Bar. Hugely expensive and rip off . Visit other bars
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
We had high hopes for Harry’s Bar but were very disappointed. The food is decidedly average and extremely overpriced. Location isn’t particularly impressive either. Won’t be coming back.

Very poor standard of food - particularly given the high prices. Chicken supreme was a small dry chicken breast with mushrooms that tasted canned. Given the wonderful food in Rome don't waste your time or money.
Be the first to ReplyRidiculously expensive
8 euros for a sprite and 10 euros for a glass of wine. Not even the best location.
Staff very attentive but I feel they prey on tourists.
Unless you are loaded, there are nicer and cheaper places in Rome.
Business and tourists curiosity but not for an impressing meal
Good for a vintage nostalgic tourist but not enough for gourmet connoisseur.
If you have American customers to amaze before signing an agreement with your company, that’s the place they will adore to take selfies to send to their friends.
We had a “nothing special” lunch at an expensive price but we had to impress our two foreign friends for the first time in Rome.
For this purpose this “old glory” is perfect
A Fantastic Experience!
We, a party of 5 from Massachusetts, stopped by for a signature Bellini after the Borghese Museum. The bar is perfect and smaller than anticipated but the Bellini was by far the best ever! We decided to stay for dinner although I had read not all good reviews. Well, hats off to the staff at Harry's whose flawless service and epicurean delights were all SPOT ON!!! If you are an American who is not familiar with formal service and old world dining, you should definitely come here and get schooled! I am sorry that the not great reviews are from Americans who evidently are not used to fine dining; Harry's does it RIGHT!!! And the piano player played "Sweet Caroline" for us Red Sox fans! Our best night in Rome!
