Hawksmoor Seven Dials London Reviews from The Last Year
Will not return.
We were hugely disappointed, from walking into an unfriendly receptionist to terrible service throughout. Have you ever been to a restaurant where you felt you were an inconvenience? This was our entire evening. Our waiter couldn't have been more unhelpful. And when we complained and asked for the service charge to be removed, it wasn't dealt with with any genuine concern. It felt like we were the ones to blame. I have never experienced service like it at Hawksmoor. We usually eat in Air Street, not Langley, and we won’t be returning. The food was okay, but hardly made up for a hugely disappointing experience.
Special occasion.
I wasn’t sure whether to give two or three stars. Here is my reason it had to be two. I’ve visited different hawksmoor restaurants and this is the first time our dinner was poor. The restaurant itself was very nice. The service was also good and the price was as expected for the level of restaurant. My one and only reason for being disappointed with both our meals was my partner’s fillet steak and my chateau chateaubriand were both dried up on the outside. Rather than glistening when served it was like they had been left under a heat lamp. I’m genuinely disappointed. I don’t like to make the service staff feel uncomfortable by complaining to them, so I didn’t. For me a high end steak restaurant has to at minimum serve high class steaks.
Below average steak
Had a business lunch today, place was empty, have been several times before, they must have a new chef, my medium steak came out mooing, and was pretty chewy, possibly the worse steak I have had, asked them to cook it a little longer, came back, all the sides I had on the plate had been chucked away, gave me new chips, however the steak was the same one, which was fine, just wasn’t nice, bad experience with the steak, everything else was good, however it’s a steak restaurant. Goodmans next I think.
A perfect meal with perfect service
We went for dinner at Hawksmoor last night to celebrate our anniversary. The staff were all fantastic, really friendly and welcoming, putting us at ease when we apologised for being a little scruffy. Our waiter was called Bryce, and I have to say that the level of service that we received was probably the best I’ve ever had. He advised me on red wine, then bought me 2 tasters do I could choose. We then explained that we had the theatre and were a little pushed for time and he made sure our 3 course meal ran to time. The food was delicious, I had the lobster and my husband had the salt beef to start, both were really tasty. Then we shared a perfectly cooked chateaubriand with the crispiest fries and a really creamy blue cheese sauce. Bryce ensured that we got a dessert even though we only had a few minutes, the plate was decorated with a happy anniversary message for us, and he’d added an extra scoop of brown butter ice cream for us to try with the peanut butter shortbread cookie, such a nice touch! Literally a perfect meal. Thank you so much.
Feast Fit for a King
Aye, me visit to Hawksmoor Seven were nowt short o' grand, with its sumptuous nosh and cosy vibes. Their grub's a proper work o' art, crafted from the freshest bits 'n bobs, each morsel drippin' with attention to detail. Service were spot on, staff were friendly 'n proper professional. Blown away by t'wine and cocktail selection, perfectly complementin' the culinary experience. A trip to Hawksmoor Seven ain't just a bite, it's a feast for t'senses and taste buds.
Average
The food was Ok , similar wine from the standard wine list the service mixed awful acoustics in a large cellar type room . Generally underwhelming would not visit again
For the Pre-Dinner Crowd, this Restaurant is No Deal.
I used to have nothing negative to say about Hawksmoor Seven Dials. The food is really well prepared. I remember ordering their whole sea bream en papillote along with a caesar salad and a dessert under their pre-theatre prix fixe menu. What a delight and so reasonably priced. No longer. Now their servers have been told to ceremoniously wave off any requests for substitutions, however reasonable. "If you'd like something else, you can always order it from the menu." The offerings under the pre-theatre prix fixe menu are now so exceedingly odd and meagerly portioned that unless you are a food masochist, you have no option but to go for broke and order off the main menu. And I do mean go for broke. I decided that I wanted the monk fish which I had to order by weight, just like one would order steaks. And what ends up on your plate bears no relation to the weight you ordered. Think serious shrinkage and for an exorbitant cost. Now I will say, that the few bites that landed on my plate were extraordinary. And the duck fat fries and creamed spinach that I ordered along with the fish were wonderful. This is no place to be penny wise and pound foolish. But you will end up out quite a few pounds. And that is a negative compared to what Hawksmoor used to be.
Best Steak House in London.
Hawksmoor Seven Dials, London; go downstairs (11, Langley Street. WC2H 9JG) and the eating area opens up. It used to be a Brewery ! Fillet Steak, beautifully cooked, Sirloin Steak, cooked just as requested. Served by Ellie (nothing to much bother). A nice glass of wine to set us up for a Matinee Performance. Must go back again there are still a couple of venues we've yet to try !!
Best steak I've ever eaten
Went yesterday for a birthday lunch and cannot fault a single thing. The restaurant has beautiful decor, and we were greeted warmly by every single member of staff from entry to exit. Our server, Paul, was incredibly helpful and made some really good suggestions. We went for the sirloin and rib-eye steaks, both of which were cooked to perfection. I've honestly never had such a delicious steak in all my life! We spoke about how amazing the meal was for the rest of the day, and we cannot wait to come back!
Excellent meat quality
They restore very nice, well decorated and cozy. The atmosphere was very good and happy. Food quality was excellent. The wine list was short but good.

My husband and I were visiting London for our anniversary, and decided to stop into Hawksmoor for Sunday roast. It did not disappoint!! Price was fair for a huge plate of roast with some sides. Also- Hawksmoor has THE best sticky toffee of all the places we've tried, hands down!
Great food. Service not what it was.
I’ve been here maybe a dozen times and always enjoyed it. I’m happy to report that the food I had last night was as good as ever. Unfortunately, the staff aren’t as attentive as they once were. A couple of were fantastic and a couple seemed like they’d rather be anywhere else. We also ordered Irish coffees to end the night, which were delivered luke warm. Minor complaints, but you can eat in a Michelin star restaurant on a similar budget.
Wonderful Evening!
This was our first time in London and we were celebrating a big birthday! We had an excellent meal! Service was wonderful and steaks were cooked perfectly! We would recommend!

Maybe we went on a bad night?
We were really looking forward to our visit to Hawksmoor. Unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. We had the pre-theatre express menu as we were seeing a show and it felt less “express” and more “budget”. The starters (potted beef) were bland, and Yorkshires burnt. The steaks (rump) were an atrociously poor cut. Tough and chewy. Mine was well over cooked medium to well despite asking for medium rare. I sent it back to the kitchen and to my dismay the second one came back the same. My partner also ordered medium rare and it was perfect, so not sure what happened there. I couldn’t be bothered making a fuss, so ate the dry steak. Poor cow. The desserts were nothing special. Something mum would make on a Sunday night. Reading the reviews, maybe we went on a bad night? Perhaps the chef was off sick?
Nice to go to a restaurant and get decent food . 👌
Went to this restaurant for wife's birthday Sunday early evening for roast. Excellent restaurant and fab atmosphere . The food was very good and we had a nice couple of hours. The bill was expensive but hay its London once or twice a year for us with threatre ,concerts and hotels so well worth a visit this particular restaurant .
Lovely steaks, but awful service and totally incorrect bill
Although the steaks were lovely, the customer service really let them down. We were charged incorrectly, our bill was merged with another table’s. We are still trying to sort it out now, three days later.
Disappointing
Well after the reviews and visiting a Hawksmoor in Edinburgh, expectations were high! However we were let down! We had to wait 15 minutes for our table, the woman on reception was quite rude, the tables are crammed on top of eachother so you can barely hear your own conversation! The service was okay, not great though especially for the amount of money you pay! And the food was warm not hot! 3 of us ordered the macaroni side dish served in a cast iron dish.... We could pick this up and not burn our fingers! Wouldn't return!
Very disappointing
I visited the Hawksmoor after seeing the Mama Mia stage production on 6th April. It was the first time that I had visited there and was on the recommendation of a friend whom accompanied me. My fellow diner ordered a 650gm sirloin steak and I the 450gm ribeye. Our anticipation was high based on the reviews we had read. But unfortunately, the reality fell far short of our expectations, particularly in view of the prices charged. Our steaks were hard, dry and with little taste. Mine went down in lumps. On the positive side, the service was friendly. I will not be returning.
Overrated and rude server
Most overrated place ever. We went there for our anniversary and it was not good. Service was poor, steaks were both overcooked. We had outstanding service every other place we went in London that week with this exception. Server was terrible and bordered on rude. At the end we ordered some wine for after dinner, he took the order and then never brought it. So he is bad for the business as well.
Superb as always!
If you want to see how good steak and chips can really be, come here. Everything from the starters, the steaks, the sides and the desserts are faultless. Expensive but worth it. We are a foody family and we cook a lot. We tend to dissect everything we are served and discuss what we would change/add to improve it. We dined here on Saturday last and it was a very short conversation!
So so disappointed
Unfriendly , I felt un comfortable we were celebrating my friends birthday I will never ever come again, The people who where serving our meal made us feel we should leave

This could have been better.
Sides were small expensive and horrible potato's old spinich frozen service a joke, salad inedible atmosphere very noisy. And the steak so so not worth the money. So it was no Peter Luger
Great dinner and service, steak was perfect the best salad
Great dinner and service, steak was perfect the best salad outstanding, sauces were good, scallops yummy! Only complaint the noise level is insane. You need to bring a sound engineer to help control
I visited this spot after a long flight and it was nice to
I visited this spot after a long flight and it was nice to settle in for a comforting meal. I'd been to Hawksmoor on a few occasions previously and always enjoyed my experiences. After looking through the offerings, I decided to have the Hawksmoor Hamburger. The burger was good - nice flavor, well-cooked and seasoned fairly well. The cheese added a bit of richness, which I really liked. Something I really enjoyed were the beef dripping fries - they really had so much flavor. For dessert, I had the Sticky Toffee Sundae and that was a nice twist on the typical dessert: clotted cream ice cream, toffee cake and sticky toffee sauce. It was a great way to end the meal. Hawksmoor is a good standard spot to visit in London. There are many locations and each have their own unique vibe. They offer a Sunday Roast, which many people enjoy. I'd definitely go back for one of the steak options since I recall really enjoying those.
Really enjoyed this restaurant.
Very reasonable for a steakhouse. Service was quick and easy, atmosphere was relaxed. Steaks were delicious with lots of options.

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
