Fantastic meal and well priced.
At $30 a head I was very satisfied. Good sized portions, good presentation and delicious flavors. There is a huge line on weekends and although some would say it is worth it I do not believe any line for a popular food spot is. Especially when there's 2-3 solid alternatives in the same establishment.

Tucked away in an unassuming market, this ceviche spot offers top-notch seafood at an affordable price! We visited on a weekday and found the place comfortably busy with a pleasant noise level. Opting for seats at the counter, we were treated to a front-row view of the culinary action. Upon sitting down, we were greeted with complimentary chips and salsa, along with a delightful salsa sampler. Fair warning--the salsas pack quite a punch, definitely not for the faint of heart! The freshness and flavors were outstanding. The combination of high-quality seafood, engaging atmosphere, and reasonable prices makes this place a real gem. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

One of the best meals I've had this year, I've been back here three times. Shrimp aguachile is the best I've ever had, with shrimp that is sweet and buttery and an amazing flavor. All of the tostadas are incredible, tostada jurel has been the fave for me and everyone I've taken here. I've had all the tacos and the pulpo and baja tacos are my faves. The others were a bit bland but had top quality ingredients. I had the ceviche once and it wasn't super memorable but I want to try it again. Definitely definitely try this place out
Solid place for seafood by Chef Cetina.
Ceviche is excellent, and the spread of seafood tacos is pretty good. Scallop and shrimp tacos in particular are solid, the octopus is not too chewy. They are accordingly busy but if you can snag a bar seat it's a fun place to eat, and the vibe, down to the refrigerators of dry-aged fish visible from half the bar. Is it the most memorable experience? Nah. But it's definitely a quality meal should you have the budget to come.

I don't think I can rave more about Holbox (apparently pronounced howl-baaks - an island in Mexico)! Casual, unassuming spot in a food hall close to USC, don't be discouraged by the line - it moves fast and is ABSOLUTELY worth it. We were able to grab a spot at the bar, which was fun because we were able to watch all of the food being made/coming out and also try all of the different hot sauces (which were all amazing). Everything is amazingly fresh, service is so friendly and helpful, I imagine every single item on the menu is amazing, however this is what we tried and would absolutely recommend (starting with my absolute favorite items): - Ceviche Mixto - large portion, perfect to share for 2 otherwise I could easily and happily devour this myself; like the ability to enjoy super fresh shrimp, octopus, and bass - Taco de Pulpo en su Tinta (octopus taco) - such a beautiful presentation, octopus is so tender and perfectly fried - Smoked Kanpachi Taco - similar to a quesadilla, it's cheesy and hot, love the crispy cheese too - Scallop Taco - tender scallop, interesting flavors with the grilled tomato and fennel Also appreciate they auto-give fresh chips and salsa to munch on when you wait, would absolutely recommend driving out of your way to come here, is on top of my list to take out of towners when I'm in this area

But it's order at the counter only. So if it's busy, be prepared to wait in line for a while. Play it safe and give yourself some extra time. It's worth it. That way you'll be able to relax and really enjoy the amazing food. I try not to throw around "amazing" too much. But it is. Note: no alcohol served here.

I am amazed at the quality of their food and freshness of their seafood! I've been coming to this Mercado de Paloma for about 9 years and Holbox really made this place a "must place to visit" Everything about my experience here was top notch! They also have a tasting menu only available Thursday and Fridays at 6pm and 8pm which I haven't tried yet but am going to very soon! I must try it !! There are so many items that I want to try on the menu that I haven't yet.
OutSTANDING
A foodie friend has been recommending this to us for months so when we FINALLY made it up to LA we planned on Holbox for dinner. But our appetites couldn't wait so we went for lunch instead. Found street parking a block away, as the Mercado La Paloma parking lot where Holbox is looked pretty full, but lots of street parking nearby. Line was about 15 people long which was fine as it gave us time to read the menu. We had the Coctel Mixto, which came in a large martini type glass. A tasty and spicy tomato juice chock full of seafood, and we also shared 4 different tacos. I have no ideas which one, we let the gentleman taking our order guide us. I know we had one with shrimp, one with scallops and one with smoked fish. I think the last one was octopus. So delicious! They also give you fresh made chips and salsa. A real treat!

From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat at Holbox Los Angeles, a Michelin-starred restaurant that truly lives up to its accolades - currently ranked #5 in all of LA! The vibrant atmosphere and vibe were electric, but it was Victor's exceptional service that truly made our experience unforgettable. His passion for the menu was palpable, and his recommendations were spot on. The Lobster on the grill was cooked to perfection, with a flavor that was both tender and indulgent. The ceviche was fresh and tangy, the lemon juice was refreshing, and the fish tacos were packed with flavor. Victor's knowledge and enthusiasm made us feel like we were in good hands the entire time. He went above and beyond to ensure our night was special, and it truly was. We can't wait to come back and indulge in more of Holbox's culinary delights, with Victor as our guide, of course! 5 stars isn't enough - we'd give it 10 stars if we could! A must-visit for any foodie or anyone looking for a truly exceptional dining experience in LA.
My Go To Place For Ceviche
Everything is freshly made. Live surf clams, lobsters and sea urchins made into tostadas, tacos and ceviche. Never disappoint.

I've had this place bookmarked for years and I am so happy to finally try it out. It is located inside a food hall with various Mexican food restaurants and Thai food. I had pulpo taco which came with strips of octopus tentacles so it was a little bit chewy, but very delicious. The pulpo taco was good and different. It's so rare to find octopus taco so I HAD to get it. The fried fish tacos were really good and probably one of my favorites I've had in the LA region. I love that there was a good portion of fish and the tacos had filling of sauce, tomato and lettuce. The ceviche mixto is perfect for sharing! It comes with a mix of octopus, shrimp and bass; and everything was absolutely fresh. The dish is served with fresh chips. Don't forget to try their salsas! My favorite of the five that they had was the peanut hot sauce because I love the nuttiness in it.
Delicious seafood tacos
Tacos are delicious and reasonable priced. I had Baja fish tacos, and black beans. Others had shrimp, octopus, cilantro rice. Parking is available onsite. I recommend. Tacos are seasoned a bit spicy.
