An Oasis in Tokyo
This hotel is a placid oasis in busy Tokyo. We stayed here one night after travelling around Japan and previously staying at the Four Seasons Otemachi (also great). Being a ryokan, it has a simpler and more genuine feel to it than a flashy tourist hotel. That makes it different from a standard luxury hotel. It is a quiet hotel with very well-appointed rooms and lounges on each floor for drinks and snacks. The staff were very friendly and spoke good English. We took advantage of the spa services which were also high quality. The central location is a plus as it is a short walk to either Tokyo Station or Otemachi Station.

Love this place. You will not need to leave the hotel during your stay as there are so many things to enjoy. Sake tasting, match experience, traditional Japanese live performance, onsen, dinner and breakfast. Everything is meticulously done and I enjoy every moment during my stay. The service is excellent, they will be there when you need them, but will leave you with amply of privacy.
Be the first to Replyincredible way to arrive in Japan
From the moment of arrival, we were completely blown away. We arrived from USA very early in the am, and the hotel has a strict check in time. However, they kindly allowed us to freshen up in a beautiful restroom and leave our luggage. We then went out and explored Tokyo for the day, returning at check in time. This was an incredible way to arrive to Japan. We were greeted with a beautiful musical performance, refreshments, and then brought to our room. The room was gorgeous! We changed into the provided kimonos and went straight to the onsen, which was absolutely divine. After our amazing onsen experience, we went back to our floor and had some snacks and tea in the lounge area, changed into the provided PJs and, as we were exhausted from travels, decided to order room service. This was delicious and an experience in itself. We woke early from jet lag and went straight to the onsen, then returned to the lounge area and had coffee and hydrating beverages. We were enjoying ourselves so much, we almost missed our train to the airport! Luckily, the hotel is less than 10 minutes easy walk to Tokyo station :) Main tips: if you are on the taller side or have mobility challenges, be mindful that the furnishings and door handles are low.
Be the first to ReplyBeautifully designed ryokan style hotel in the business district of Tokyo
Stayed a couple of nights in February. The staff are very well-trained, courteous, helpful and speak English well. The hotel is gorgeous and tastefully designed in all aspects, from the entrance, hotel lobby to the rooms. The rooms are spacious and well designed with quality fittings. The bed was very comfortable but set very low (just a few inches off the floor), so may be challenging for those with knee problems. The onsen was very nice with a section open to the Tokyo sky, so was nice to have the contrast of cold air and hot spring water in winter. The only drawback I would say is its location in a business district. While connectivity to metro is very good and Tokyo Station is only 10-15 mins walk away, there are not many shops or restaurants in the area. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and the surroundings were totally dead. There's not much of a view; you'll be looking at salarymen tapping at the computers in the office building next door.
Be the first to ReplyRelaxing place that worth the stay
The interior, service, and cleanliness were top notch. There were cultural performances (i.e., Japanese musical instrument) in the lobby area which added to the nice ambience. Each floor has a nice pantry in which there were hot and cold drinks, and snacks available. There were cozy sitting and study areas in the pantry. There was onsen which has an open top concept which looked into the city sky. I had my dinner in the hotel which was a fine dining concept and the experience was great. The whole experience in the hotel was really relaxing. Have a hard time finding the place on foot as it is not located near to Tokyo Station. Get the google map and orientation right should be fine.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Japanese hospitality and excellence
We used to travel to Japan many time on business. Now close to retirement, and after many years absence, we returned for a tourist visit. The Hoshinoya hotel is an excellent example of Japanese excellence and hospitality. The rooms are elegant and comfortable. The atmosphere quiet and tranquil. The decoration is tasteful and a careful blend of modern and traditional. Guests are encouraged to wear their yukata in public areas. Evenings have a traditional musical performance with a sake tasting. The staff was very accommodating and hospitable. One morning we woke up too early, and requested a few rice balls to hold us over until the time of our breakfast reservation. The rice balls were delivered outside normal hours and very promptly. Strangely the hotel has strict rules of gusts only, so when we met an old friend for dinner, we had to eat outside the hotel.
Be the first to ReplyNested in a quiet business neighborhood in the center of Tokyo!
We stayed at this hotel between Oct 16-22, 2022. We had a great and relaxing time at this modern Japanese style hotel. The pro: 1:The hotel is in a very short walking distance to Otemachi Sta ( A4 exit) And Tokyo station( M8 exit). It has tons of shops, restaurants and departments store. It was such a great location for a business or leisure travelers. 2: The hotel has no outside shoes policy. So you feel like a home. All tatami floor. Very clean. 3: The service was great and detail. The room was not big but it was a good size for Japan standard. 4: We have no chance to dine in there but I think we will do it at their other ski resort. For this location, I think you can skip it because there were so many restaurants near by. 5: We booked it before Japan official open. so the price was great value for us. The cons: 1: No early check in. We were arrived at really early morning. After 10 hours flight, we just wish we can check in early to take a shower. Unfortunately the hotel could not offer that. They do allow us to rest at their 2nd floor to wait for other stores to be opened. Over all, we had a nice stay and we may go back again in the near future.
Be the first to ReplyONSEN, ONSEN mate
From check-in to check-out, it was one of our best hotel stays. The staff was very friendly and helpful, from everyone at the concierge who helped us book all our reservations, Brandon who checked us in, to all the staff who assisted us and were very attentive every day. The service alone gets five stars. The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, very clean, and well decorated. Thereโs an ONSEN in the hotel, tea room on every floor with snacks and tea for the guests. Thereโs kimono and pyjamas for guests to use which I think was very good touch. Thereโs no iron in the room, so if you need one youโll have to ask for it to be brought to you. Location was great for us cos thereโs a station just below the hotel or just a few mins walk to Tokyo station. It is in the middle of a fancy financial area so itโs quiet and away from too many tourists. Lots of food options in the area or just a quick train.
Be the first to ReplyTook My Money
I prepaid for a pricey four night stay on Hotels.com. Then Covid hit. They gave me a coupon to apply to a future stay. Great! However the coupon expired before Japan allowed tourists to come back, and the hotel refused to extend it, meaning it was worthless the whole time. They just kept my money and gave me nothing in return.
