Best Hotel in NY!
This was our first trip to NY with our kids and The Hotel Giraffe made it great! The staff is so friendly and go out of their way to help you with anything you might need! The rooms were bigger than expected, the lobby was stocked full of everything you’d need(coffee, tea, lemon water, snacks, fruit), the lobby staff were attentive, the location was amazing and close to everything you’d want to see in the city! I would highly recommend!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Giraffe. We had stayed there once before. We love the area (29th and Park Avenue South). We have stayed at several hotels on 50th between Lexington and 3rd and prefer the Hotel Giraffe's neighborhood. The Village, Union Square, the Theater District and Midtown are all accessible to avid walkers. When we arrived our room was not quite ready. Christian invited us to sit down and enjoy some complimentary munchies and soft drinks. He then took our bags up to our room. He was exceedingly pleasant. To the General Manager: give him a raise! The room is well-designed and decorated. It was plenty of space for my wife and I. We enjoyed the complimentary snacks downstairs. There was not a lot to choose from at breakfast. We got takeout from Pret a Manger just down the street. The hotel did not have a health club, nor did it offer passes to one. This is surprising for a highly rated hotel. That is one amenity I would have expected. Aside from Christian, we found the service not as friendly as we might have hoped. Housekeeping was very good, and we felt it was a great value given the price we paid. We would certainly stay again.

As repeat customers, we enjoy staying at the Hotel Giraffe and will continue to do so in the future. The hotel's staff are pleasant, engaging, and the hotel is conveniently situated for our needs. Depending upon one's dining preferences, one can dine in or enjoy other nearby restaurants.

Clean, comfortable hotel in a good location. The bathroom amenities, e.g., lotion, shower gel, etc. have poor packaging that make it hard (almost impossible) to get the products out of their respective containers. Also, the "wealth" of amenities offered at the Giraffe Hotel do not, in my opinion, justify the $25/day resort fee. Also, these amenities have gradually decreased over the years, but, given COVID, the economy, etc., it is not surprising. I have recommended Giraffe Hotel to people I know and will continue to do so.

The hotel was a great value in a very centrally located part of Manhattan. While the shopping nearby was sparse the restaurant scene was great. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. The lobby space was large and bright and welcoming, with coffee service available all day. While we were kindly upgraded to a junior suite, all the rooms with the full length windows are very bright and open. We will definitely stay here on our next museum trip to NYC.

Have stayed at this hotel many times over the past six years. Overall, the Hotel gets good marks based on location, quietness, comfortable beds, staff service level. We do not like the changes in the amenities with the addition of the restaurant opening. The restaurant seems to have taken over the lobby. They used to have a lovely continental breakfast, which is no longer the case - making the $25 a day resort fee appear egregious. Coffee was never hot during our stay. The televisions are dated, and the plumbing in the showers is starting to show some wear. We will probably look for other hotels our next trip. We stay in Manhattan 4 to 6 times a year.
Be the first to ReplyThe basics are fine
Hotel Giraffe is a nice enough hotel in a good location. The staff are friendly and accommodating. If the above is all you care about then read no further! I have travelled a lot and am quite fussy with hotels, so here's my honest review: there were a few things that weren't up to scratch. Firstly this was advertised (and purchased) with a continental breakfast but we were told they were 'no longer offering this'. I was asked to forward the evidence from my booking. It transpires that they used to offer this but it had been withdrawn and the marketing not updated. The compromise was to not charge the $25-per-day 'resort fee' on top of the booking. Fair enough I suppose, but then what does this fee cover? The tea and coffee offered in the lobby is poor (often luke warm) and there are no in-room facilities to make your own - my husband, a big coffee drinker, was not impressed. Our main issue was with the initial room in which we spent the first night - I had booked a 'Classic Suite' with separate living area. The living room looked out into a dark ventilation shaft and as a result was very dull and depressing in the day time (see photo). After making a fuss we were eventually moved to a gorgeous room overlooking Park Avenue and East 26th Street. I couldn't believe the two rooms were priced the same and felt somewhat cheated having spent the first night in the other room. Lots of the room facilities are quite dated - the response to this was "well we are a boutique hotel!". Yes, certainly decor-wise there is an art deco vibe, but the furniture was old and grubby, and this was the only (and most expensive) hotel on our five-hotel USA trip that had no smart TV/Chromecast/input facility. The HVAC system was old, rattly, and the 'auto' set point didn't work so we kept having to manually adjust the temperature. The bed was also the least comfortable of our trip. Overall it was just 'OK' - maybe it is good value by NYC standards (£850+ for 3 nights?), but I still don't believe it deserves the praise that is heaped on it on TripAdvisor, and I will be choosing a different hotel for our next visit.

Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet and comfortable room. Convenient to excellent restaurants. Terrific value! In the past my wife and I have stayed closer to the theater district when we have visited New York. No more! Hotel Giraffe is a diamond in the rough.
Be the first to ReplyBEST Boutique hotel we have found in Manhattan.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Giraffe Hotel: from the moment I connected with my reservation/we walked in until we had to depart. We were visiting family, as we often do, and, after 14 years trying different hotels, we now have a place we can call home! The Giraffe exudes a warm, personal, extremely accommodating although very professional and "buttoned up" attitude. To me, it is the perfect mix of classic, over the top, professional Manhattan service with warmth and grace. Each member of the staff is unobtrusive yet just an arms length away to assist - always making you feel like it is their pleasure and never a problem. Our room was lovely, spotless and comfortable. The lobby is very comfortable and beautiful and easily accommodates parties that just want to sit, a quick snack, a drink or dinner: unusual in the hotels we have stayed in previously. It was as if I was visiting a friend's (large) living room. On top of it all : the location cannot be beat! I cannot say enough good things about the accommodations, staff, property as well as the location. Do yourself a favor: treat yourself to the Giraffe. I can't wait to return.

Giraffe still gets it all right. I’ve been staying there on and off for biz and play the better part of two decades. Great staff, competent and attentive + comfy beds. Exciting new Italian restaurant and bar downstairs now in a soft launch. New owner from Venice is sharp.
