A nice hotel choice for Switzerlanding ;)
It was a nice choice for our Switzerlanding last summer. Good rate for the type of tour we wanted to do. Very quiet and has nice restaurant options within 1-5min walking distance. We had nice mountain view, and the room was clean and pretty. The wifi was also working perfectly.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Stay!
We visited the Hotel Victoria in early January. The hotel is centrally located in Meiringen near the bus and railway stations and is an easy 10-minute walk to the ski lift. This modern hotel is clean and comfortable with all the amenities one could possibly need. Simon and Franziska (the owners) are welcoming and helpful, as are their staff. The breakfast buffet is excellent with both hot and cold food served. There is a very good dinner menu which has some interesting Asian-themed dishes. The hotel also offers complimentary access to the Meiringen Fitness and Wellness Centre which is a short walk from the property. Overall, a great place to stay and highly recommended for excellent, Swiss hospitality.

Simply superb! A lovely hotel in the heart of Meiringen. Clean and comfortable rooms with every amenity you may need. Incredibly friendly and helpful proprietors who provide a warm and welcome respite from a day of outdoor activity and wonderful food, artful and delicious options on a nightly basis. Looking forward to coming back on our next visit to Meiringen!

I stayed here for 5 nights in August. I was visiting with a friend and were here for a wedding we were attending in Brienz. We had a fantastic stay and literally did not have one complaint. My personal favorite was the breakfast… it is fantastic. They have an incredible variety, plus allow you to order eggs, bacon, pancakes, etc from the kitchen. Their coffee machine makes the best cappuccino. I can’t sing high enough praises for the breakfast!! The room was clean and modern with space for storing items, a couch and a desk. The location was perfect for utilizing the train and shopping in the downtown district. The staff was very professional. Every request we had was met with knowledge and help. Simon personally asked us how our stay was several times, and the other staff were very friendly. Would definitely stay here again! - Scott
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience with a few minor issues
My friend and I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights in August. It is extremely well-located, walkable from the train station, right in the centre of the (admittedly small) town and very comfortable. You get breakfast included in the room rate which consisted of a very good cold buffet selection, juices, coffee, etc and then a few small hot items you could order (like eggs, bacon, pancakes) which were also included. We also ate in the restaurant twice, and both times the food was excellent. We had a wonderful view onto the mountains. Simon was very friendly and checked us in and out, and also came over to ask how the food was the nights we ate in the restaurant. All of the servers in the restaurant and at breakfast were friendly and enthusiastic. A few things kept if from being a 5 star review. As a few others have mentioned, our room was very warm. We were there in the middle of summer but it was actually unusually cold. Each morning we left our windows open (as they had been open all night to cool the room) and every day when we came back from hiking (sometimes very late) they would be closed and it would take a long time to cool down again. There was also something weird with the TV where occasionally a mysterious german voice would emanate from the TV for a few seconds! We never figured it out, it was so weird though. And perhaps the worst and most unprofessional experience we had was asking for a restaurant recommendation from Franziska who happened to be sitting on the desk. She literally could not offer a recommendation outside of the hotel's own restaurant. When pushed she halfheartedly suggested the restaurant of the nearest other hotel, her explanation being "I don't really eat out in Meiringen and I just love our restaurant." Look, I understand that the chef is your husband and it's a good restaurant but this is frankly amateur hour level behaviour. This is an expensive, upscale hotel. I expect the host to at least be able to rattle off 2 or 3 recommended places to eat outside of their own. Luckily, we later went to the tourist information center who gave us some wonderful restaurant recommendations, including where we could get fondue (which Franziska claimed was impossible. Not so!) So all in all a good experience but some strangely unprofessional behaviour from one of the owners.

A truly wonderful experience. The hotel was very comfortable and stylish. I slept very well and enjoyed the nice touches, such as the fruit in the room and the cake in the afternoon. Dinner in the restaurant was so good that we decided to dine there for both the evenings! The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was excellent for hiking adventures in the mountains. I highly recommend and would not hesitate to return.
Be the first to ReplySmall, friendly and service oriented with exceptional cuisine
Hotel Victoria is a small and nice hotel with an exceptional cuisine. Right from the start you notice the service, especially the owner, who really takes care with all his heart. The room is not special but plenty enough for a short skiing trip. What is special, however, is the dinner. If you book half board, then the menu is set and you can choose between 3 main dishes and 2 deserts. The presentation and quality is very nice. The hotel doesn‘t have a wellness area but you can go 150m across the street to a fitness facility with sauna, steam bath and resting area. Only thing is they close at 6pm.
Be the first to ReplyPleasant stay in Meiringen
Spent two nights at this hotel and we had overall a good experience.
Meiringen is located a 20-min drive away from Interlaken, which is the most interesting city in the region, hence our decision to stay here.
The hotel is very nice, with a restaurant at GF and a common room where you can relax while looking at the mountains, there's a parking lot next to the hotel at a competitive price of 5 chf a night, rooms are rather spacious and cozily furnished.
We found some fruit and a note on the bed, a nice touch.
What I found extremely negative and not worth of a 4-star hotel was the pillow, which had 0 support and gave me a neck pain, otherwise the room was austere but had everything you might need.
Breakfast was amazing, with coffee from Rast, cold cuts, Bircher muesli, fruit, etc and the Latvian waitress exceedingly friendly and pleasant, if I owned the hotel I would have her as manager...
Didn't particularly liked the check-out,as the person in charge didn't even ask us how we liked our stay. Rather cold, but maybe it is the Swiss-german style, no clue.
Overall this hotel is a good option in the area in any case.
Don’t look anywhere else to stay
We stayed at the Victoria Hotel in Meiringen during a tough work assignment in the nearby Alpine Glaciers. Firstly the staff were incredibly helpful and attentive and check in was super quick. The rooms are spacious and very clean and modern. The bed was VERY comfortable. The restaurant is superb, chef Simon Anderegg produces a delicious and varied menu. We did not need to even consider eating out. I ate his mushroom salad every day. Great wine list also. I forget the New Zealander barman’s name but he was a good man! Good place for families also. Victoria the owner is well known and respected in the area. I’ll be back.

Found this hotel totally by accident. Arrived in the evening. Checkin was straight forward and the receptionist managed to find me a table in the restaurant which was already very busy. Room was comfortable and clean to a very high standard. The hotel was excellent and can’t recommend enough. As for dinner. Delicious. Will definitely be back

What a haven after two long hiking days. Immaculate rooms, perfect bed (slept like a log), spotless and beautifully designed bathrooms, wonderful views and a charming town. Food was phenomenal - I tried to remember the last time I ate this well. Lovely staff, who helped with an introduction to Schwizerdütsch. Perfection. Thanks to all of the team - a hard-to-beat start to a holiday.
