🤮 1/5 - This was a strange experience and a long review but I am so

This was a strange experience and a long review but I am so confused and upset by the whole ordeal. We visited for our honeymoon trip and were really looking forward to it. I had made our booking (at 19:00, for two) well over a month prior to our visit. We were seated at a 4-top, and our server came out quickly. We had ordered drinks and a starter. The starter came out first, and then my husband had to ask for our drinks. My drink was very nice, his was underwhelming but unique. Our starter was fairly standard spring roll. The mains were not bad, but not really anything that blew us away. I got aubergine and he got dry spiced chicken, and we got some fried noodles to share. Firstly, if you're looking for very hot and spicy (with the numbing you get from Szechuan peppers) and the layered complexity of a good Szechuan dish, look elsewhere. The noodles were bland and quite greasy (it splattered all over us and our table). His reminded him of jarred teriyaki sauce. We were doing okay, and were planning on ordering more drinks and dessert. Then, someone who appeared to be a member of the management staff came up to us and said a table near the window was opening up and he could move us there "for your dessert and so you can take your photos". This sat a little strange with me because 1) we hadn't ordered dessert 2) we hadn't taken any photos or even had our phones out 3) we hadn't asked any employee anything about getting a better view. I was thinking it was due to seating us at a 4 top for a 2-person party and they overbooked, but whatever, we are flexible. Then, someone came up and did what I can only describe as wiped up after us while we were still seated? There was a stray noodle and a few drips, but we didn't make a crazy mess more than you would expect two adults who know how to feed themselves to make. I didn't see them do this for anyone else. Then, the same man came up and said the table wasn't opening up but he could seat us at the bar, and as soon as one opened we could sit there. Ok, fine. We then were moved to a tiny table in the corner, behind a huge screen, further from any windows, behind the bar where the glassware was stored. Someone came over immediately to take our drink order, and I ordered 1 additional cocktail (my husband had previously had his second and it was half finished). Then, the man who moved us came over with the check and the card machine and explained the restaurant and bar were separate and we needed to pay for the restaurant. He then asked if we were visiting the UK and how long we'd been here and said as soon as a window table opens up they will take us there. I cancelled the drink I ordered and we left. Note, we were dressed properly (I was wearing a silk top and skinny jeans, my husband in a button down and khakis...we looked similar to everyone else). I am not sure what kind of vibe this place is trying to portray, but if it doesn't want tourists, the Shard seems like a strange place. It was frankly a humiliating and just overall bad experience for food that I can get better at my local Szechuan place in the Midwestern US. When you're in a city like London, where amazing food is next door, and artfully presented food stylishly arranged on a slate serving platter is a dime a dozen, you have to do much better than this place to stand out or be worth it. If it's any consolation, the price seemed pretty standard for a nicer place in the city (but still not worth it for the quality of the food and the experience).
