Loved the experience.
There was a long line outside the restaurant but the staff was efficient and got us in there for a party of 5 fairly quickly. The food was fantastic and delicious. I love that they mirrored an authentic Japanese ramen restaurant in Japan and although we were seated in our separate booths, we were still able to sit next to each other. The classic tonkatsu was absolutely perfect and the matcha dessert was tasty. Both highly recommended.

With its quick service, perfect noodles and rich broth, and fun booth-dining, we greatly enjoyed the ICHIRAN Midtown experience! Upon arrival before it opened, we formed a line along the sidewalk. Once it opened, the host called us in a few at a time. We placed our orders at the computer kiosks and once complete, the host reviewed our orders with us, handing us corresponding tickets, which we provided at our booth. I appreciated that I could either choose a set, recommended ramen or customize it to my liking--I chose the latter and added seaweed, a little extra garlic, and a soft-boiled egg to my ramen. I ordered my noodles as recommended, but my dining partner ordered his slightly firmer. There are two rows of single booths flanking the central kitchen/serving area, each equipped with explanatory information and a call button. Shortly after sitting, the tatami mat lifted and a server took the tickets and not long thereafter, the meal was delivered--no eye contact or small talk required! Water and tissues were self-serve/available in dispensers along the wall behind the booths. Very much enjoyed the noodles, which were thinner than the standard wavy egg noodles I usually prefer. The pork was wonderful and I loved the extra flavor provided by the seaweed and ICHIRAN's special Hiden no Tare (red pepper sauce). I generally enjoy marinated, soft-boiled egg in my ramen, so was slightly disappointed that the egg provided was in its shell, not marinated, and slightly more hard-boiled. Will definitely return for another bowl!

The ramen here is fully customizable and that's what makes it so great! There are close to no places that i've been to where you can ask for more noodles like you can here! The food always comes quick and the staff is always nice and efficient. I love the individual seating here, and the self service water!

I've heard a lot of good things about ichiran and it's definitely a great solo dining spot! I came here on a Sunday around 5:30pm and there was no line. You order outside and get the food with your receipt once you're seated. Each person gets a little booth. You're quite close to the person next to you so it wasn't as private as I thought it'd be, but still pretty cool! There's only one ramen on the menu (the tonkatsu ramen), but you can customize it with different toppings and flavors. I went with recommended everything and added a soft boiled egg. The soup was pretty flavorful but a bit too salty for me. I was also a bit disappointed that there were only two small pieces of meat. I did really like the texture of the noodles and the egg. I'd say the ramen is on the pricier side ($27 with the egg) even with the no tipping policy.
Be the first to ReplyGreat spot to try.
Other than the waiting outside we'll worth it. Small intimate booths. Staff was pleasant
Be the first to ReplyFirst time trying Ichiran and I understand the hype.
My group and I waited about 10-15 minutes before being able to enter and go through the ordering process. It's a very efficient process and somewhat fast dining experience, though we're not rushed. I like how everything is customizable - saltiness of the broth, richness, texture of the noodles, you name it. You can truly have it your way here. It's a cozy ambiance and we're seated individually to be able to truly enjoy our meal. I really liked it and would go back to another ichiran.
Be the first to Replya little overhyped but i'm glad i got to try it! the ramen
a little overhyped but i'm glad i got to try it! the ramen here was really tasty and is rich in flavour. i got the classic tonkotsu with an egg on the side. the egg came in its shell and on the side which was a little surprise to me lol. i like how you are able to customize the ramen to your own liking, and it really gives the same vibe as how they do it in Japan. the atmosphere here is great honestly, and I can appreciate the single seating. i personally prefer thicker noodles but that is a personal preference that i can get by. the thin noodles were great and were cooked to my liking. they have a no tipping policy here which is also great! however with no tipping, the ramen is on the pricier side ($20+ USD) but this would be similar to paying for a ramen with tip anyways. i would recommend this place to try it out one time, but it would not be a go to.
Be the first to ReplyReally flavorful ramen with a unique dining experience.
There is only one type of ramen on the menu, which is awesome for me because I'm very indecisive. This spot is great for solo dining because all of the seating is individual cubicles, maybe not so great for a first date or catching up with an old friend.

Craving a solo ramen adventure? Look no further than Ichiran. Dive into their private dining booths for a customized classic tonkatsu ramen experience. Customize your bowl just the way you like it, and don't forget to add some extra sides for the perfect meal. The broth is bursting with flavor, and every bite of their signature ramen is pure perfection. Save room for their decadent matcha pudding - it's so rich, creamy, and absolutely irresistible. Trust me , you won't regret indulging in this dessert delight! Oh, and before you leave, make sure to snag one of their take-home ramen kits for an Ichiran experience right in your own kitchen. Highly recommended for all ramen lovers out there!

Ichiran is one of my go to spots for ramen! You can customize the noodle texture, broth and even the toppings. I came in shortly around 3pm and surprisingly had a good amount of customers. There was no wait for a party of 4. My go-to is everything that was recommended. The food comes out pipping hot too! You can request for more noodles, order dessert and even a ramen kit to go. That's exactly what we did. We ordered the ramen kit to go, paid upfront but it did not come immediately. We had to let the staff know twice that we brought it and still never came. Eventually they came with an iPad to confirm the credit card used on the order. Mind you they do not give you a receipt. After another 15 minutes, the ramen that we brought to take home was finally given to us. Minus one star for that. Overall, I will be back but I would order the ramen kits outside of the seating area. They have iPads to order when you walk in the restaurant.

Visited NYC over the weekend and Ichiran was the first stop after a long four-hour bus ride. Also to note, it had been a cloudy and windy day. Upon arrival, we were able to quickly order from the tablets and promptly seated. After only a few minutes, our ramens were ready and that first spoonful of piping hot porky broth (omg), it really hit the spot. Then mixing the green onions and sauce together was the crème de la crème and enhanced the broth flavors. The first slurp of noodles had the perfect chewy bite, and the soft-boiled egg and chashu balanced everything very well. We have decent ramen in DC, but I loved this bowl of ramen.

Don't be scared by the long line, it moves pretty fast and definitely worth it! We tried both ramen (classic tonkotsu & veggie). Both amazing, from the perfectly cooked noodles to the rich delicious broth and toppings it was a bowl of perfection. Great experience sitting in the focus booths too. Be sure to double check the spicy level when you order as the "recommended" might be too spicy for most. The matcha pudding at the end was nice and refreshing but maybe wouldn't order again for the price
Be the first to ReplyI like the idea of Japenese style seating.
Individual booths separated by a mere piece of wood. It's an introverts dream, honestly. Prefixe style menus help with what to order. I paid about 30 dollars for a tonkatsu ramen with extra toppings. The noodles were very fresh to order, but the broth could have been a little richer for my taste. They have you select the desired spicy level and richness levels, so I guess I should choose better next time. I went with all the recommended levels for my first time. The service was nice, quiet, atmosphere very simple and clean. For the price I paid very much worth it. Easy order style, order up front and pay, then be seated to get your order.
Be the first to ReplyTheir ramen absolutely delicious.
I loved it. We got to go and the worker at the front was so nice. Their restaurant is single seating only like in Japan. After coming home walking for about 30 minutes and rewarding everything up in a stove pot it was so delicious. Can't wait to come again and try in dining.

Incredible ramen, the best we've ever had! We were visiting NY from California and Ichiran was highly recommended as a MUST visit. We walked the 1.1 mile from Hyatt Grand Central and it was so worth it!

This was my first time going to a single serve ramen place, and I loved it. Everyone could just focus on the bouncy noodles dunked in perfectly flavourful both. Who doesn't love that! As it's a single serve restaurant, the wait time was a lot. We waited for 15-20 mins, if not more, before we were allowed inside. We placed our order at the counter and then were let to our booths. We got a veggie ramen bowl with medium spice level, and that too was spicy! But we loved it. The food, the whole experience- definitely something I'd recommend. Especially if you eat pork, try their house special.
Be the first to ReplyFirst time eating here and you can customize the chewiness
First time eating here and you can customize the chewiness of the noodles or thickness of the broth and pay first then get seated down. Got the tonkatsu with the toppings in medium spice which came out to be $30. Self serve water Tonkatsu was light and clean and the noodles were chewy which I liked. Overall it was good and service was great
Be the first to ReplyTastes just like the Ichiran in Tokyo.
The only downside is that the toppings set will run you $30. The flavors are amazing and the noodles have the best texture. You are also able to customize your broth & noodles to how you like. Came on a Saturday afternoon (4pm) with a party of 4 & we got seated after 10 mins. As we were leaving, there was a line out the door. So come early! The place is also very clean & have a lot of hooks to hang your things.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is absolutely amazing.
I will definitely be coming back. The wait is a little (because of how delicious the food and experience is) bit long depending on when you come, but it's worth it in the end. The broth and noodles are amazing. If you order meat the meat is really soft. The matcha pudding is delicious as well and is perfect after eating your ramen. The staff is really kinda and helpful if it is your first time at the restaurant and are just overall really nice. It's really clean inside and a really nice well decorated restaurant. I definitely recommend.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for Monday lunch around 1 PM.
There was a small line, but we didn't have to wait too long, around 10-15 minutes. I got the Classic Tonkotsu Ramen, with everything medium except the saltiness level (less salty) and spice level (spicy-2). The broth was really flavorful and well made. Char siu was tender and not fatty. We had a group of 3 so the experience was interesting since we were all sitting side by side separated by the cubicle walls. I would recommend this for 1 person or maybe 2 people. The ramen came out to be about $24 for one person - which is expensive for a meal in general but seems to be the average cost for a good quality ramen. I think it was worth it but I wouldn't be coming here all the time.
Be the first to ReplyI heard about this restaurant years ago online but only
I heard about this restaurant years ago online but only thought they had locations in Japan. Come to find out when I'm planning a vacation to New York that there is one here! It was my first stop here and it was the most amazing ramen I could ever eat. I don't know how I'm going to go home without trying to have it once more. The employees are super nice and the restaurant itself is clean and larger than it looks. I'm so sad that there aren't more locations outside of NYC
Be the first to ReplyCome for the experience, but don't expect a mind-blowing
Come for the experience, but don't expect a mind-blowing ramen. I think this place gets hyped up a lot and so I was disappointed once I found out it was only a little above average. It's nice that you can customize, but really if you're from any city with decent ramen that's a pretty normal expectation. However, the experience of the individual-like dining areas is pretty neat.
Be the first to ReplyFood: my favorite ramen in the city.
Get some extra spice than their recommended for a bit of a kick. You can do without the $7 "extras" and just get their regular ramen. Service: after getting through extremely long line, the service is very quick. This is well oiled machine. Ambiance: come here with maximum one other person. This is a great place to dine alone as the seatings are all for individual people (though you can sit next to each other).
Be the first to ReplyWow best ramen I had in nyc.
..had it in Kyoto and the quality remains the same! Are you ready to pay $30 for a bowl of ramen?? Not supersized bowl but a regular bowl. I love how you can customize it to the way you really enjoy the ramen but maybe like everything else adidas shoes etc you have pay more when you get to customize. The line at 6:30 was atrocious. I went the next day for lunch and it was a lot better. The seating is the same as what I had in Kyoto with the wooden curtains. I felt that they could probably fit more people in the restaurant but I guess again after covid hiring constraints. Big sign in front of the door hiring. Yes the hourly pay is less than the bowl of ramen that they sell overall if you don't mind paying and you are like the people that I was sitting next to you can take the soup home and use your own noodles at home.

We came for the first time on a Friday night and really really wanted to love Ichiran since we've heard so much about it. Wait was about an hour outside (we came at 8pm and were seated around 9). Loved the ambiance and the privacy of the individual booths - it was definitely a unique experience. Unfortunately we found the ramen a bit lacking. We were disappointed that the ramen came very with little toppings (two pieces of char siu and a spoon full of green onions). We didn't realize ordering extra toppings was so necessary. Compared to other places, this felt too pricey at $22 a bowl compared to other places that are cheaper and include more toppings. The broth itself was good but nothing too special. They use thin ramen noodles and we personally prefer thicker ones but these still tasted fine. The service was super friendly but felt a bit slower that night. Overall - a decent ramen place but it didn't seem worth the one hour wait and the hefty price tag.
