Will be back!
Walked in to a surprise of an atmosphere. Decorated throughout with silent film star Rudolph Valentino. We started off with cocktails from the drink menu and they were all outstanding! Excellent bartender! Dinner was fabulous and the server was outstanding. Sorry about the lack of details but we went a couple of months ago.

I was on the upper east side, so I thought I would try someplace new. The decor was nice. The food was delicious! The only thing I would have liked is to have fresh parmesan cheese on the ziti.

We had the most amazing, special dinner we have had in a long time. The waiter was exceptional with his knowledge of the menu, ingredients and wine selections. Every single entree and appetizer was delicious. We can not wait to go back. Specisl, special experience. The decor was also so special. Thank you to all of the over the top staff.

First time at il divo and wont be the last! The waiter was very helpful accommodating while professional. The food was outstanding , I was informed the menu is changed by season. Crudo of hamachi and Risotto lobster with black truffle is a must I highly recommend!

I live on the UES and decided to give this place a try. To say I am underwhelmed is an understatement I chose the tasting menu. I started with the zucchini parmigiana. Completely lacked flavor and needed salt - the red sauce lacked flavor overall. The pasta bolognese needed something, perhaps cheese but wasn’t given a option to add. The waiter took 25 minutes to take my order. Never checked on me again even to see if I needed anything or wanted another glass of wine. Will not return or recommend. Such a shame given i was hoping to find my new go-to place.

We had dinner at "Il Divo" for our first wedding anniversary and we could not have made a better choice. Very curated location, very friendly and warm staff and fantastic food! Dishes are really refined and absolutely tasteful! All these ingredients made us feel home :)

The food is excellent. The wait staff is professional. The restaurant is comfortable and even the outdoor dining is a pleasure. Never expected to have such a wonderful dining experience on 2nd Ave. Il Divo is a gem.

Lunch with friends on a quiet afternoon. Great menu, excellent service. An unexpected find way over on Second Avenue.

Went with friends. There were three of us and we had a corner table that was comfortable. Another friend who had gone before as a couple felt the tables too small. The wine choices were excellent. My clam appetizer delicious. My main course was unusual. Oyster ravioli. We didn’t have dessert

Friends of our picked this restaurant to meet for dinner. Lovely warm interior with the plate and walls cover with pictures of Valentino the silent movie heart throb. The menu is extensive and our dinner companions have food allergies that were addressed with no fuss. The service is very attentive and is excellent. My wife and I both had a lobster stuffed ravioli with a butter and sage dressing. She love it, I did not. There was no taste of the sage and the butter was more of a thin sauce. Would I go back and try something else: YES!
Be the first to ReplyA different kind of Italian in NYC
This is a fabulous new Italian restaurant. They also have one in Milan.
The room is pretty and beautifully decorated with pictures of Rudolf Valentino, which makes it look like the library room in a lovely Italian Villa. It is small, comfortable and great for conversation. Tables are well spaced.
The dishes they offer are not like most Italian restaurants in NYC. They have many usual things served in a new way. I had lasagna and was delighted by what they served - not the usual three inches high bomb that most places serve. Instead it is two layers of very light pasta sheets with appropriate filling and covered by meat sauce; it was utterly delicious. My wife had osso buco, which was wonderful and not the usual bone-on giant most restaurants serve - instead, the meat was scraped off the bone and served that way. It, too was utterly delicious. Desserts were wonderful and light - a perfect end of a great meal.
Service is prompt, friendly and accommodating. It is not inexpensive, but it is worth every penny. Make reservations, because once it is discovered (only opened during the summer of 2019) it will be hard to get in.
Quality But
Our bartender/server by the name of Miguel was excellent. The food and drinks are pricey. Our meals were all very tasty but on the small portion side. Wines are also on the high side with regard to pricing. The place is lovely and the decor is charming. It's also a cozy spot to dine in. The manager needs to be more engaging. His presence was there by sight only. When you dine and spend over $ 500.00 you would expect the manager to appreciate your visit to the establishemnt a little bit more than " have a good night". The restaurant is relatively new and needs more leadership if it's going to be successful. prices are such that you want to be made to feel special dining at this propoerty. Overall a very nice experience.
Be the first to ReplyAn authentic Italian experience in the Upper East Side
Il Divo is not your typical Italian-American, red sauce and meatballs type of restaurant. Owner Antonio Sinisi and Executive Chef Matteo Limoli have brought authentic Italian food to New York City. The menu spans from traditional Italian dishes, such as the Vitello Tonnato, the Risotto alla Milanese or the Cotoletta alla Milanese, often reinvented with a modern twist, to more creative entrees, such as the Roasted scallops, cauliflower lemon puree, and black olives. The ambiance, very similar to the sister property Al Valentino in Milan, Italy, is warm and cozy. Tables are small and close to one another, so privacy is not the forte of this place. But I guarantee that not many people will pay too much attention to what happens at other tables if they want to enjoy the excellent food on their plate. If the food is Italian, the portions are definitely American! My wife and I tried the Il Divo experience, a full Italian meal comprising an appetizer, a first course, a second course, and a dessert, and we could hardly finish our food, even though everything was delicious. There's a small but fine selection of wines and prices are great for New York City (the Divo experience menu is just $120). I wish Antonio all the best for his new adventure, and I hope to have the chance to go back again soon!

We've eaten here 3 times at this point (and are going again tonight). The food is delicious and the service is great. Good wine by the glass in the $15 range, very reasonable for NYC. The pasta with clams A++++. UVA (another Italian restaurant in the neighborhood) has received a lot of accolades but for my money, Il Divo is better. I hesitate to recommend Il Divo because even though it's great because I love being able to get a table whenever I want.
