Total disappointment
I really do not understand how restaurant like this still survives in Rome and get ratings well above what it deserves. The restaurant is worn out, the chairs are uncomfortable and dirty. The food is not as good as an average Italian restaurant in any town in Europe. We will spend three nights in Rome and I was really sad to have chosen this restaurant . Total waste of money and a totally spoiled night in Rome.

We ate here on our first night in Rome, jet lag and all! The restaurant was recommended to us by the parents of a Roman friend and did not disappoint. We-- a family of 5 with children ages 18,12, 10 (who are adventurous eaters)-- were seated at a lovely table inside. The staff were incredibly attentive-- assisting our understanding of the menu, helping us order, engaging our children and providing us little cookies/sweets for desert. They were flexible making pasta for our two younger children. The food was extraordinary. I had a raw scampi/ceviche appetizer that is one of the most miraculous things I have ever tasted-- like butter. My husband had the fish stew. All fresh fish, perfectly cooked. There were few tourists. It was a little pricey, but justified. We will recommend this restaurant to all who travel to Rome!

Arrived on time at 8.30pm. We opted to sit outside which at the time only had two other couples. We were left sitting in limbo for 15 minutes. Had to Ask if we could see a menu (after all this was a restaurant.. we thought)! Another 15 mins passed asked for wine list which was extensiveโฆ. No help whatsoever in selecting an appropriate wine. Finally waiter took our order , again waiter showed little interest in helping or suggesting anything, clearly he did not want to be working! We had a trio of raw fish to start, which to be fair was good bar the prawns which still had the intestinal track left in , not good. Mains my wife had ravioli, I had pasta with prawns. Nothing special. Certainly not memorable. Overall service was appalling, we were largely ignored for the whole night having to pour our own wine. We did complain, covid was the excuse, however tables with, what looked liked โregular customers โ saw no issues , with no less than 3 waiters sucking up to table behind us while we were left in limbo! We ate at Fish restaurant Pierluigi the previous night which was outstanding in every respect. The difference between service was like night and day. The only saving grace was service is not included in Italy , we left a big fat Zero! A real shame and waste of money.
Be the first to Replythe tastiest seafood
i went with some anxiety after reading the reviews but my experience was great. the waiter had some definite ideas and i followed his advice. the fish cooked in crusty potato was really delicious. from the vegetables, he recommended a salad of tomatoes sprinkled with grated olives. i didn't have any wine. and i had one appetizer with squid and prawns which also tasty. the bill was 100 euros even. i felt it was worth it. the taste of the seafood was really amazing and the service was courteous and polite.

We live in Rome part of the year, and eat out often. Never before at the well known San Lorenzo, and never again. The food was okay at best. My first course, a fish crudo, was ample but not exemplary. My main, a fish frittura, was mediocre. Service was terrible. The wait between courses was about 45 minutes. Wine service was aggressive, as if they wanted us to order a second bottle. Nice gelato. Overpriced for what they deliver.
