Just OK
I had the bruschetta and probably should have followed my conscience and avoided the octopus, particularly since it was refrigerator-cold on top of the bread! The other bruschetta was just OK, with the bread being too soft. The bolognese was a bit dark, lacking a nice fresh tomato flavor.

I've eaten lunch here twice on Sundays. The food is excellent, some of the most authentic Italian I've found in the US. The cacio e pepe is as good as what I've had in Rome.

We lived in Rome for three years and this is the best Italian food we've had since we returned back to DC. Tasty, authentic, and prepared with the kind of attention and care you'd find in a non-tourist spot in Italy. The fried zucchini were scrumptious and light, the spaghetti alle vongole was fresh and tasty, the melanzane al forno was classic, and the wild boar pasta was rich and full of flavor. It was the real deal and all the more impressive because we got it by take-out. Can't wait to try the restaurant for dine-in. Not just a great addition to the neighborhood but worth a drive from anywhere in the dmv.

My wife and I, who've eaten here on the average of once weekly since "Eddie's" opened, were stunned to see that anyone would find this very good, unpretentious place designated as over-priced, or the management rude. No one is ever rude at I'm Eddie Cano, although, especially because they don't take reservations and sometimes get very busy, the wait for food can be erratic.
The food itself is very good and doesn't pretend to be Italian haute cuisine, certainly good enough to draw our attention so frequently. Yes, we also like Sfoglina but it's comparing, unfairly, two restaurants with two very different price points and different intentions. We will keep eating there, or taking out food, regularly and as long as Eddie's is around.

Once again Eddie Cano Disappoints!
Once again Eddie Cano cancels our carry out 45 minutes after it was and right when it was scheduled to be delivered. This was the third time this happened. With bad service or no service it doesn’t matter how good the food is - you left hungry and frustrated. There are many excellent Italian restaurants in DC who can cook and deliver good food. Three strikes you are out Eddie Cano!

We love this place. The food is very Italian, very flavorful. See a full review at johntannersbbqblog, search eddie cano. They deliver locally with robots, and it's worth a visit to the restaurant to watch the robots come and go.

We live in the neighborhood so were looking to support a local restaurant. We arrived on a Saturday evening, at 7.30pm and were pleasantly surprised that we didn’t have to wait for a table. As it was a warm evening we sat outside. We ordered calamari and garlic bread to start. Both came out in about 10mins. We also ordered cocktails and non alcoholic drinks for the kids. Ours came out and we assumed the kids ones would arrive soon after. That’s when it all went downhill. My husband ordered a glass of wine which took nearly 30mins to come out. By 8.40pm we were still awaiting on our mains and the kids drinks. They had given us warm plates about 20mins before with no explanation as to why the food was late. When my husband went back inside to find out what was happening with our food, we were told it was just coming out yet 20mins later we were still waiting. People on other tables that had arrived after us were being served their mains. We eventually decided we had had enough and went to leave. The manager came out and apologized for the ‘delay’. That was such a poor excuse. Why not tell us that they had just forgotten
our order?
He asked us to take the food with us and to come back again and give them another try. When we got home, our hungry kids tried their gnocchi and unfortunately we had to trash it because of the burnt garlic taste.
Also be aware that the portion sizes are super small for the price so don’t expect much. I really wanted this to be a local hit for us but sadly we will be giving it a miss in future.
Interesting New Venue
Good service; outside seating; delicious antipasto and pasta dishes. I'm Eddie Cano does not take reservations, but worth the wait for a table.

Had brunch here last week and almost stayed on for dinner. Wonderful food at moderate prices. Between the three of us, we had steak and eggs (cooked perfectly and memorable), eggs Benedict (San Benedetto on this menu and beautifully cooked and delicious) and great salad with crispy zucchini string fries. Desserts were cherry and chocolate gelato--best in the city, in my experience.
This restaurant is in my neighborhood and I am grateful that we have another imaginative and moderately priced eatery around after a lousy year of debuts by second rate burger and pizza joints.
I'm a little reluctant to go on about this place as I don't want to contribute to a stampede that will entail long lines--they don't take reservations. But if you're a visitor to Washington, take the metro to the Van Ness station and walk up a few blocks. It's definitely worth the effort.
Woefully Overpriced for the Quality of the Food
I recently had dinner here and the food was decent, but not remarkable in anyway. The service was passable. My biggest problem was how terribly overpriced the food was for the quality of the restaurant. This is not a Michelin level restaurant, but will not know that based on the price. In fact, there are several better quality Italian restaurants that this place does not even come close to, such as Sfoglina or on the cheaper side and equal quality food, Al Volo Osteria. Like I said, the food at Eddie Cano is good, but not outstanding. The portion sizes can be very small, so you will find yourself ordering several dishes to make a full meal. I expect better food and service for the price of having dinner here.

We enjoyed the lovely outdoor seating. The service is fast and friendly and the waiter is very knowledgable—perhaps with an overdone Italian accent?
I liked the menu with its interesting choices of genuine Italian food that ignores pizza and some pasta dishes you find in other places. We had beet salad and fried zucchini as starters, both of which were generously portioned and very good. The spaghetti alle vongole was ok, but the tonnarelli was outstanding. I will go back for that dish alone. Simple but wonderful.
Great Little Place with Great Food
My husband and I ate at I'm Eddie Cano a few months ago. We did not have a reservation but it was relatively late on a Saturday night so we were seated with no problem. The restaurant was full of big families and smaller groups and the energy level was high. Our server was friendly and efficient. In fact, he was from a small town in Italy that my husband had visited so we shared some stories. The food was great and the bill was not outrageous.
