The restaurant cancelled our booking by mistake and didnโt apologise
We asked a friend to book for us and when we showed up, the staff kept saying that our booking was cancelled on their system the day before without further explaining anything like how it was cancelled and by whom. Their attitude was not friendly at all especially the male staff. We refused to leave and asked our friend to call the restaurant again. It turned out that it was another booking that was cancelled but the restaurant had mistakenly cancelled ours instead. They finally allowed us in but the make staff still seemed very u friendly. Also, they didnโt apologise at all. Very disappointing and have ruined the whole experience.
Be the first to ReplyWell worth the efforts and taxis fares
My friend and I love sukiyaki. Weโd already been to Hiyama during our last trip to Tokyo. Since we wanted to try another sukiyaki restaurant for a change, we went to Imafuku for lunch this time. We took a taxis from Ginza where weโre staying to this 1-Michelin starred restaurant which is situated in a quiet residential area. Both of us took the sukiyaki set meal which came with, among other things, 2 big slices of very nicely marbled sirloin from Poroshiri in Hokkaido. The very polite chef cooked the first slice in Kansai style and the second in Kanto style. I preferred the 1 cooked in Kansai style though the 1 cooked in Kanto style was very good too. The beef was very tender and literally melted in my mouth. It tasted divine after being soaked into the raw egg which was beaten into foam form. All other things which came with the set including the vegetables were every delicious. The dining environment was very comfortable since weโre seated in a private room. The service was top notch. Imafuku is definitely the place to go in Tokyo if you wish to have a very good sukiyaki meal.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect wagyu beef shabu!
The restaurant serves excellent beef with just the right tenderness. They cook it in an shabu stock and allows you into two sauces: ponzu and sesame. Both were spectacular, although I for no doubt prefer the ponzu. Even after a large platter of beef, the restaurant serves you soupy noodles or rice from the retaining stock. The noodles were cooked just right. It is incredibly value for money as well as the price is very reasonable. I definitely recommend you to visit this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyJapanese speciality. High ranked.
Vegetarians avoid this review. Sukiyaki is all about beef. Sushis,Sashimis, Ramen and several others are the most popular Japanese food. Have you ever experienced a โGoodโ Sukiyaki?? There in the center of Tokyo you can. This restaurant should be written at the top of your Japanese Cuisine Experience. No doubt. It is a bit pricey but it worth it. The wine and/or sake selection is really nice. The only little negative point was the person who was serving us, military style. Be quiet, eat pay and go ^^^
Be the first to ReplyGreat Service with Great Food
My wife and I decided to eat here knowing about the bad service from a particular english speaking waiter. The night we visited the waiter was not there. We don't know if it was simply his day off or if he is no longer employed, however the waiter we had was phenomenal. The table next to us were drunk and spoke VERY loudly. Our waiter saw our discomfort and asked them to keep it down. I would def go back again.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent beef shabu-shabu with great service
I read all these horrible reviews about there being a rude English speaking waiter at the restaurant. If that was the case, then this person must have been dismissed. The waiter and waitress who served us were very polite. As there was no warm sake listed, we asked if they could warm one of the cold selections for us, there were no problems whatsoever.
We ordered a la carte and informed them that we wished to cook for ourselves. Both the sirloin and filet were excellent cuts, and the starter salad was fresh and tasty. Portions were just right and the waiter gave thorough explanations about the different sauces.
After a rather filling and warming meal (in the middle of winter) we had a very small dessert to finish off. The entire evening was delightful.
Excellent beef shabu shabu
They are right. The guy in jacket who speaks a bit more English is full of himself. Hence we preferred to talk to the guy without jacket but still spoke some English. He was earnest and able to explain the beef cut, what was in each dish, which menu item was more popular. We didn't feel there was a language barrier and we got really good service.
The beef quality was of course legendary. Every pieces melts in the mouth. Sauces were also suitable for different cuts too.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
