Great neighborhood Korean with delicious soju cocktails!
Great neighborhood Korean with delicious soju cocktails! The food is dependably fresh, well-prepared and delicious and the service is on point. This is a wonderful place to have drinks and dinner with friends or for a casual date night.

I'd recommend going there to get it. Nothing arrived warm, but it was beautifully packaged.
Be the first to ReplyCozy vibe with great music.
Thought I think the food fell a little flat the cocktails definitely made up for it. Awesome service as well! Definitely a gem in the Andersonville neighborhood. We made a reservation for 4 on a Saturday night only a few hours before- so it's an awesome last minute choice if you're scrambling.

We ordered pick up and it was all ready within 10 mins! The food was fresh and stayed hot even during our chilly walk home through the snow. Everything was beautifully balanced and tasty! Strongly recommend the chap chae (I would go beef over tofu--the tofu is pretty bland) and the wings and Brussels sprouts. We will be back soon!
Be the first to ReplyWe had such a great experience here.
Great food, reasonably priced, fun atmosphere. Happy to bring out extra hot sauce. And when they accidentally tossed my leftovers, the chef made a whole new plate for us to take home and came out of the kitchen to appologize. Super great service.

I've been here multiple times - the food tastes great, the atmosphere is nice, and the service is excellent. The reason for this review is that two items on the menu that are listed as "able to be made vegetarian" cannot be as the kimchi they use is made with fish (as told by a waiter). I want to give a heads up to fellow vegetarians/vegans to avoid these kimchi dishes despite how the menu has them listed. I really wish they would print updated menus or even update their items online to avoid confusion.
Be the first to ReplyI have eaten here twice.
The first time was more delicious than the second time and service was better the first time too. Overall though the food is so yummy! I just wish the food had come all at once so our whole party was eating their meal together. I recommend the teokbokki, the pajeon, the bibimbap, and the dumplings.

My friends and I came here for a birthday dinner on the weekend. The ambiance is nice and there is a spacious party room in the back. Korean food is one of my favorite cuisines, so I had high hopes. I was most excited for the steamed dumplings, but surprisingly it's the dish that I'd skip next time. The highlights of our meal were the dak gan jang (aka chicken wings, so crispy) and the domi. It seems like the domi is being slept on! If you're a fan of fish then please order this dish. It's juicy, flaky, lightly battered, and flavorful. The martinis aren't too strong, but you can easily get your drink fix because they sell soju by the bottle. Although it's not the place I'd go to for an authentic Korean meal, it's still a fun place to take friends to dabble into some Korean dishes and have soju/sake to go with it. Also, the service was nice and food came out super quick.

The food was amazing! Nice place, great service and I wish I could give it 6 stars. We have been there a few times and will definitely go back- we are fully satisfied every time
Be the first to ReplyI came to this place after passing by many times.
I always wanted to try it out. Got a reservation on the phone. The food was delicious, everything we tried was good! We got steamed dumplings, really good and they offered free pickles and kimchi. Our main dishes were Bibimbap with baby octopus and Kalbi. It was really fresh, crispy and delicious. The Kalbi was a lot of smoked grilled flavour. I really enjoyed the place, and might come back. It is silly to say one of my favorite things of all was a free potato salad. I totally recommend the place.

I've only had the chicken bulgogi but every time I order it is delicious and so worth the price and value! So much chicken and an array of ingredients makes this place #1 Korean in north Chicago!!

I was craving some home-y Korean food, so I decided to order from Jin Ju through Uber Eats! The food arrived in very meticulous and safe packaging. The food was still hot upon arrival too! I really enjoyed the kimbap! It tasted fresh and delicious! I wasn't a big fan of their yellow pickled radish or their kimchi...but the broccoli and radish kimchi were alright! My disappointment in my order though was the kimchi-jjigae. There was barely any pork, and it was cut into very small, small pieces. It was also very sour, and that flavored overpowered everything. It's such a shame since that dish is one of my favorites! So, it was just OK. Maybe I'll give it another try for the other dishes next time!

I've been searching for great Korean food in the city, and have definitely found it here. We went as a party of four on a busy Saturday night; this place is no secret. We decided on cocktails and small plates with an additional order of bi him bop to share. Their cocktail menu is fun, with a list of drinks made with soju. These cocktails are delicious, a little lighter and more refreshing than those made with, say, vodka. For dinner we shared the kimchi pajun (a Korean pancake made with Kim chi,) the mandoo dumplings, the duk boki (rice cakes in a spicy/sweet chili sauce with shrimp, scallions and peanuts), the bi bim bop and kim chee chigae, that bubbling broth loaded with kimchi, pork and tofu, always a favorite with me. That was plenty of food for the four of us, and everything was excellent. The spice level here is tamed down a bit from what I'm accustomed to at Korean restaurants, and I did find I missed that extra heat, especially with the kim chee chigae. Still, there's lots of flavor in the food here, and the menu is interesting enough to return and try other items. I'll be doing that soon.

Out in Andersonville and needed a place to grab some dinner, so my friend and I decided to check out Jin Ju Korean Restaurant. I have been to quite a few Korean restaurants in my day and even spent a summer in Korea taking in the culture and eating so much fantastic food. I even cook it myself, so I have a great deal of appreciation for the cuisine. We got there an hour before they closed, but we were still seated very quickly. I will suggest calling ahead and making reservations to be safe. The restaurant is modern and beautiful all the staff are very kind and checked up on us quite a bit. I will say that the prices for this restaurant are very fair my friend and I got a lot of food and drinks and as you can see from the photos the portions were well balanced. Our bill was less than $100. You will have a complete meal on just the small plates. Ok, the food was good. Let's start with the chicken wings delicious and fried to perfection, also not too spicy just right. Kimchi pancake was good. I prefer more kimchi and a bit crispier, but it was still good. The Chapchae was good. I enjoyed the added pieces of Kalbi on top. I also liked the bulgogi. Jin Ju understands their area and audience and is reflected in the Atmosphere and taste of the overall food. I am used to more spices and seasoning from more traditional Korean restaurants, and I feel like the palette was more neutral for the general audience. This is not a bad thing, and overall I believe it will work in their favor. I washed Everything down with a mango habanero cocktail. My friend had a Hite Beer, and we shared some Soju. Overall this was a wonderful experience, and I think if you're hanging out with friends or looking for a perfect date place, this is a great choice.4 out of 5 stars.
Be the first to ReplyI've been coming to the Andersonville area for date night
I've been coming to the Andersonville area for date night for years and finally had the chance to try Jin Ju -- I'll save you the suspense: you definitely want to eat here! For Valentine's Day, my partner and I wanted to try something different and knowing that I adore Korean food, we decided to make a reservation at Jin Ju. One note: you can only call in reservations but they are great at answering their phone so it wasn't a problem. When we arrived, the hostess checked our vaccine cards and licenses and we were seated quickly. The atmosphere is moody and romantic, with a swanky bar that you'd expect from a hotel in the middle of a major city. We honestly felt very cool. Our waiter was friendly and helpful and provided a few of his recommendations to us. The menu is accessed via QR code and we ordered the Pajun, Dak, fried Mandoo and Kalbi Beef. Truthfully, we may have ordered too much. After getting through everything aside from the Kalbi, we were stuffed. Everything was so delicious, fresh and plated very well. Our favorite was the Pajun, or scallion pancake. We loved the dish and that it was relatively simple but had layered and complex flavors. My partner also tried the soju-- a uniquely Korean alcoholic drink. He thought it was refreshing. Overall, we know we will be return! The prices are a good value and for anyone who loves or would like to try Korean food, we think it's one of the best places to go to in Chicago!
Be the first to ReplyI really enjoyed Jin Ju's ambiance and great food.
The bi bim bap was delicious and filling.
Be the first to ReplyExceptional food.
Lovely drinks. unclear communication with service staff. I had emailed and set up a reservation for our anniversary. maybe our second time dining out mid pandemic. When we arrived the server who sat us said there wasn't a reservation, no big deal - there was plenty of seating, so we found a spot. The food was amazing, but I guess it felt a little crappy not to have any recognition within the service.

A nonprofit I volunteer for had an event here in December 2021 for about 50 people. Jin Ju hosted us in their back room area and set up buffet style dinner. Service, space, food and drinks were all amazing. Our guests were so pleased with the dinner. We had a great experience coordinating with Agnus leading up to our event. Highly recommend this venue. The front of the restaurant was packed during our event which showed how popular they are. We will be back whether it's as a party of 2 or another party of 50.
Be the first to ReplyTried this out in a Tuesday.
Wasnt blown away with all the flavors but they do have a lot of good things going.Service was on point and they have lot of Korean alcoholic beverages which was a nice reminder of time spent in Seoul. The front windows are more like glass doors and open wide for those that are just starting to dine inside again. They seemed to be doing the business with alot of Carry-Out but they were attentive to the dine in customers. Food was good and will try it again! Try the large hite beer!

This is hands down one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Everything is a culinary dream!! Everything I've had is good. I recommend ordering a lot of things and splitting it! The wings and pork belly brussel sprouts are a must have. I also love the beef chap chae and mandoo!! I recently moved across the country and I find myself dreaming of this place. Nothing compares
Be the first to ReplyTwo stars for the cold beer and good music for ambiance.
Atrocious quality Korean food, particularly for the high price point. Obviously serve frozen dumpling grade appetizers and the meats, particularly the Kalbi was mucho grisly where it should melt in your mouth. There's a Korean grandmother of the owner who is likely feeling shame. This owner has no shame.
