Jongro BBQ New York Reviews from The Last Year

This restaurant is located on the upper floor of the building, and you need to go check in with the host first. Luckily, we went quite late ,so the wait was not very long. Having been to South Korea before, the restaurant has the same atmospheric vibe as those in Korea! The food was absolutely delicious, and we loved everything from here. The quality of meat was top-notch, and the side dishes and sauces were delicious as well. They have an excellent selection of alcoholic beverages. This place is one of our MUST-VISITS whenever we go to NYC.
We came at 2:50 for the special lunch combos.
After ordering, we got most of our combos. But the two bibimbaps we ordered never came. We asked where they were and the waiter said he would go check. He came out at 3:30 and said there were no more bibimbaps. This is exactly when the lunch special ends and they refused to let us order from it even though we ordered earlier and it was their fault the bibimbap never came. This is completely unacceptable and says a lot about both the management at here. Afterwards, they even held us there for 18% tip I will not only never be coming here again but I will also be telling everyone I know to stay far away.
Came here for the lunch specials.
Server took our orders; 5 orders total and 2 orders never came out. Server intentionally waited until after 3:30 to tell us our orders weren't coming out and they ran out of whatever we ordered (Lunch specials run until 3:30). The server proceeded to tell us we couldn't order from the lunch menu anymore. We disputed this with the manager, and they tried to gaslight us into thinking that we ordered after 3:30 when we ordered far before that (at around 2:50). Portions were super small and service was subpar. Because of the horrendous service, we tipped a minimal amount, mind you we still tipped for their horrible service. Manager came out and forced us to tip more before letting us leave. Then they had the audacity to tell us to have a great day and hoped that we enjoyed right to our faces after what they did. DO NOT COME HERE if you want a good Korean barbecue experience. There are far better deals you can get around KTown that are not only cheaper but also friendlier and better.
Pretty good place.
The meat is top quality. Very tender. Little pricey but it's New York. One thing is they cook all meats too fast. Maybe because it's so busy. Trying to turn tables. But they don't rush you so it's fine. Very good service and the ambiance is nice. Luv they cook the steam egg on the table. Fresh and hot.

We ordered pork belly, marinated kalbi, and brisket bean paste stew. The soup tastes better than all the BBQ meat. We should have just ordered some cooked dishes instead of raw meat for BBQ. Overall, for the first meal, I'll give a 6/10. Service and ambiance are alright.
The food was pretty basic overall.
The assorted grilled intestines are not particularly something you can do wrong, other than if it were to be prepared incorrectly or not fresh, so that's like a given. Raw parts, grilled - as good as expected. Other dishes were all ok - nothing terrible but also nothing wow. BUT ... their service sucks. Our group all noticed and commented about the bad attitudes of the servers. Cannot stand for cold, half-hearted, blah service when paying customers are the entire point. From being seated to taking our order, the female employee (one of many so I can't quite describe who exactly) was just non-welcoming and blah. Followed by a guy who manned our grill for a good 10 minutes just making us all feel so uncomfortable with his attitude when we asked a few questions. Korean bbqs, or grilled foods where the servers hover over you to cook - is a very intimate space and service format - they really ought to be somewhat gracious so that the diners at the table don't feel suffocated by their presence. A server makes all the difference to the experience and ours were all noticeably unremarkable. Also hate that they bring a tablet to the table to handle your check - standing blatantly by as they watch you calculate and add tip while they hold the tablet judging you. And we're resident Koreans so per our culture if anything, they should have the 눈치 to be better. Won't be returning or recommending this spot. (Jongro in Flushing has a slightly different menu with a similar overall concept and their service is also hit or miss but overall, better.)
According to locals, Jongro BBQ is the best and the go-to
According to locals, Jongro BBQ is the best and the go-to spot in Koreatown, New York. I love Korean bbq so I knew I had to go check it out myself. The place was busy and I could tell it really was a popular restaurant If you don't know what to order, I recommend ordering the combos! The beef platter was perfect for my party. We enjoyed some brisket, ribeye, non-marinated short ribs and some marinated kalbi. I love all the sides the came with the combo platter, including the banchans, the corn cheese and steamed eggs. Though I enjoyed my meal, I can't say it's the best since I've only had been to one of many Korean bbq restaurant in Koreatown, New York so maybe you can decide for yourself!
Great quality of meats at this Korean bbq.
First one I've tried that wasn't unlimited meat and there is a huge difference in the quality. One of my favorite kbbq spots

Visited NY last weekend and this was my first meal after a 6 hour car ride. Really hit the spot, would recommend asking to be seated on the 5th floor to get the corn cheese. 2nd floor doesn't have it
I hate having to give them a 3 but it's overly priced.
Not to say it's not good, it's authentic and definitely have its pros. However, the first time I came here I was to die for and I've been disappointed since. I just don't think the food is worth the money but that's also because I love very flavorful food. Won't say I don't recommend it.. but just not my jazz!

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
