Mixed Experience at JW Marriott My wife and I recently
Mixed Experience at JW Marriott My wife and I recently stayed at JW Marriott and had a mixed experience that I feel compelled to share. Firstly, I must commend Winky for his exceptional service during check-in. He truly made us feel valued and even surprised us with a special birthday treat in our room. His attentiveness and care were much appreciated throughout our stay. Unfortunately, our dining experience at the steakhouse left much to be desired. Despite the anticipation of a fine dining experience, both the service and food quality fell short of expectations, especially considering the significant amount we were planning to spend. Another disappointment was the lack of late-night service for champagne. As guests of a premium property like JW Marriott, we expected to celebrate on-site. However, we were directed to a nearby hotel to purchase the bottle ourselves, which was unexpected and not in line with our experiences at other luxury hotel brands. Overall, while there were highlights to our stay, such as Winky's exceptional service, the dining and late-night service issues were disappointing. I hope the management takes note of these concerns to maintain the high standards expected of JW Marriott.

com if you want a place to go for a 1st time experience of Tampa FL this is the SPOT that is HOT!!!
Be the first to ReplyI have stayed at this hotel on business several times.
It was based on those positive experiences that I booked a stay at the hotel this weekend as a Valentine's Day gift for my wife. While our room at the hotel was fine, my experience with the valet service at checkout this morning ruined the entire experience. At 11:16 a.m. today I used the QR code on my valet ticket to text the hotel's valet service to have my car brought around. After several minutes of not receiving a response, I used the QR code to text the valet service again. This time, I received a response that, "The ticket was already requested." Assuming the car was enroute, I went down to the front door with my wife. After waiting about 15 minutes, a kind older gentleman who is part of the hotel's valet team came up to us and offered to check that are car was on the way. He returned a few moments later to let us know that the key was gone, and our car would be there any minute. After another 15 minutes of waiting, another member of the hotel's valet team, again, an older gentleman, came up to us and offered to check on the status of our car. Again, he returned a few moments later to inform us that the key was gone, and the car should be there. After another 10 minutes of waiting, I went to the valet office to inquire about the status of the car. They confirmed that the key was gone, and someone was retrieving the car (this is now 50 minutes after my original text using the valet ticket QR code). I was then approached by a rather rude manager who sort of apologized for the situation and offered to take the night's $45 fee for the valet service off my room charge. Within 5 minutes, my car arrived - 55 minutes after originally requesting the car. Let me add here that we never observed anyone having to wait more than a few minutes to receive their car. What's more, my wife and I also noticed that we never saw the kid who brought our car around in all the time that we were waiting (Did he take the key and go off somewhere? He offered no explanation for the delay and was not apologetic). The end result of all this is that we ended up arriving late for the Phillies spring training opening game, something we were looking forward to. What a disappointing end to the weekend and a half-hearted attempt at addressing the situation. Think twice before staying here!

I spoke to the general manager & he was very pleasant to speak to. He offered another opportunity to visit location. Make sure to request Fred for your massage!

My 5 star getaway for carefully concocted cocktails and an ambiance for days. In these times when good servers are hard to find, they have many. I wouldn't expect stat service for so many but it ain't too shabby. The food is great and it's perfect for those who don't venture out often and just want to get to the point: great drinks and food hangout. Look around. This place has redefined the Tampa skyline....i like it!
Be the first to ReplyI was super excited for my recent stay here.
It's a newer Marriott in Tampa and very upscale. Before now I usually stayed at the Tampa Marriott Water Street directly across the street from the JW... I've always enjoyed my stays there but couldn't resist the up scale, luxury description on their website. Especially the spa, two pools, roof top bar, lobby bar and fine dining eateries on site. Sounds super impressive, right? While the Hotel is grande, modern and very pretty, the staff very professional and beyond polite and courteous, I was very quickly disappointed once inside my room. The deadbolt lock on my door was broken. I reported it and maintenance came immediately but unfortunately they could not fix it. I was offered another room but had already unpacked my things. When showering I found that the glass shower door was letting water out and leaking all over the floor. Mattress, pillows and comforter not comfy and cozy at all. My room service breakfast for one consisting of eggs and pancakes, coffee and tea which tasted average at best cost $90 and arrived NOT hot. My experience at the spa was very relaxing but the robes and towels are not large enough for all body types. The common lounge area was lack luster. Stained couches, food and crumb debris on seating and floor, hot water carafe for tea empty and toilets that wouldn't flush in the women's bathroom. As for my actual massage it was just ok. The steam room, sauna and outdoor spa pool were very nice and enjoyable. Again, entire staff is amazing, so nice, eager to help, professional and definitely strive to make your stay great. I also had a really good spicy Bloody Mary at the lobby bar. What I'm saying overall is that what it costs to stay here, eat here, drink here, spa here and indulge in all they have to offer does not add up. Lots of hype and high prices unjustified. I'm glad I tried it because now I know. If I want a real upscale and luxury experience while in Tampa I will stay at the The Edition, Marriott. I did not dine at any of the JW Marriott on-site restaurants so I cannot comment on them. I made my complaints known to management, and their remedy was free valet parking for the duration of my stay at $45/day. Not what I wanted but I accepted it as it did save me $135.00. I think they should have and could have done more. I am dissatisfied.

We are big fans of the JW Marriott brand and stay whenever we can. At a JW, you expect top notch service and this hotel delivered. Every staff member with whom we interacted was friendly, helpful, professional, and seemed to enjoy their job. Service was absolutely a 10 out of 10. We had a double queen room with a water view, which we absolutely loved. We stayed at this location for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. The location is very convenient to the rest of downtown and the Riverwalk. There are numerous options for eating and drinking. The hotel is not far from Sparksman Wharf, the aquarium, the Children's museum, and water taxis. It is also across the street from an arena for sports events. The hotel is only three years old so everything still feels relatively new and clean. We were able to take advantage of the Executive Lounge which offers a great selection of foods for breakfast in the morning, snacks and small plates around dinner time, and desserts in the evening. My one criticism, and it would not stop me from staying here again, is that the bathroom is rather dark, there is no fan, there is only one hook, the countertop is rather small, and the water pressure from the sink faucet was weak. There are two rooftop pools. One was heated, the other one seemed not to be heated. Valet was fast and efficient. The Concierge was helpful. The front desk was efficient and helpful. Really, the entire staff is there to serve and do it with a positive attitude. The people who work here make this hotel a wonderful experience. If we return to Tampa, this is where we are staying.
Be the first to ReplyMy review is solely on The Beacon on the 27th floor.
A group of friends and I went their last night and for a Wednesday the place was crowded. Ambience a 5 Visuals a 5 But the service, drinks and food? 3. $17 for a glass of sangria spritz is a bit steep for cocktails when The Edison is right next door. All drinks seem to be $17. The choices of cocktails tried to be edgy but failed to deliver. service: our waitress while very friendly, forgot orders completely or forgot to place orders until we reminded her. rarely came by to check on us. Food: Nice presentation but that's where the excitement ends. not much on the menu for a bar/lounge vibe. Mini angus or kobe burgers or truffle fries would be good additions. we ordered hummus with carrots which were undercooked i.e hard had to cut with a knife. hummus was delish. no bread/naan or pita just hummus and carrots. we also ordered a potato snack with caviar. ok it came room temp. nothing to rave about. The view is non-pareil. Freaking awesome at nightime and I guarantee blown away at sunset. Tip: go for the view and atmosphere. eat before you go and stick to your known cocktails.
Be the first to ReplyI thoroughly enjoyed my time here.
Def a nice quick getaway. I was torn between JW and the new Edition and I'm glad that I made the choice that I did. I spent about an hour at the Edition down the street. While the location is great, it's legit a IG playground with groupies everywhere. Back to the JW. Room was great with a nice view of the bay. Hotel was very well maintained and service was friendly. Had a drink down at the bar and enjoyed my time spent there. Gym is nice too. Hotel is across the street from a free tram which I took a lot during my trip. Overall, a good value and I'd stay again. P.S. 2 pools on the rooftop. Service could be a bit better and more attentive. But water and view were nice.
Be the first to ReplyEverything about this hotel is super.
My only recommendation is that they get firmer pillows, the pillows are basically non existent. I also find it interesting that the JE Marriott (which is higher end than a regular Marriott) is not on the water, but the Marriott is. If I came back, I think I'd stay there instead just for that fact.

I have gone to the JW Marriott spa twice for massages and can't get enough! I have been getting massage treatments for years both in tampa and in other cities, and this one is by far one of the best I've had. I came in with really tight knots in my back and explained to my masseuse that I need very firm pressure, and got just that. Im normally not given enough pressure to fully release my tension, but this was EXACTLY what I was looking for! The customizable massage for 90 minutes let me fully relax and feel each knot melt away. The fact that you get access to a steam room, sauna, rooftop mini pool, and get complimentary snacks/teas/champagne flute are the cherry on top! This is my favorite place to treat myself to a luxe self care day. If you are familiar with massages, you can appreciate the level of professionalism and expert treatments that the Marriott spa gives.
Be the first to ReplyI arrived at 7am this morning after flying a redeye from LA.
I had paid the night before so that I could straight into my room. This is normal practice when arriving before the normal check in time to pay the night before. My office had called twice yesterday to make sure I knew I was arriving at 7am, including leaving a voicemail with my confirmation number and details. Upon arrival I was rudely told I had no room, even though I was checked in on the Bonvoy app. The lady at the front desk was crass and could have cared less. Told me to go sit in the lobby and wait for a few hours until a room was ready. What ever happened to customer service? After realizing there was no point to arguing my case, I walked across the street to the Marriott where the girl on duty was very sweet, she apologized for the JW, something they didn't do throughout the entire debacle and got me into a room within a few minutes. Awful awful experience with the JW. A+ experience at the Marriott across the street.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic stay here.
Absolutely loved the rooftop pool and large gym. The rooms were quite comfy and had a great view of the city. The staff were very friendly and the commute to my office wasn't that bad. I love how close by this was to all the good restaurants and downtown.

4.5- Great location. Have traveled here a few times now for work, so can fairly say service has been consistent.Location: walking distance to many companies, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and of course the water as well as water and land trolly.Amenities: To be fair, haven't had a chance to use the pool, but the overall amenities are great- bar, restaurant, coffee station, gym.Room: Great views of the water and stadium as well as downtown. Comfortable bed, spacious space. Good closet space with a full length mirror inside and tons of hangers (I hang everything so this is a plus). Safe in the drawer, mini fridge. Bathroom: Has always been clean and nice. Only downside is that the lighting in the bathroom is dim, I have to move a light over by holding it closer to the mirror. My last room at least had a makeup mirror with light, but this time there was not one. Shower pressure is great, hot water.
Be the first to ReplyThis rating is for the spa at the JW Marriott Tampa.
My mother in-law and I each had spa pedicures. We arrived an hour early in order to use the spa facilities. The spaces are comfortable and relaxing. The homemade granola bars are special. For our pedicures, I had Alexa and she had Regina. They were both great. We all had nice conversations that made the time enjoyable. Regina was perfect for my mother in-law. She had a great mix of humor, kindness, spunk and genuine care. The pedicure itself was equally wonderful. We will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyGorgeous hotel.
Like a Modern Ritz Very urban, lots of glass, very open. Escalators and elevators Connected by skyway to Marriott across the street Very pricey, came over here to eat and use their marketThey have coffee and a bar at the entrance lobby Lots of conference rooms upstairs with glass and steel. Spacious and very high ceilings give you lots of breathing room Great for meetings, you don't feel stuck in a small business and banquet room A breath of fresh air to hang here. You can also see the hustle and bustle of the convention hall and spot the cruise ships down the opposite side of the street Beautiful area next to the electric free trolley too! Plenty of scooters to borrow in the streets

This hotel is beautiful and super convenient if you're in downtown Tampa. We had a lovely view of the water from our room and the ammenities were great, too. The trolley is right outside and we took that and walked everywhere we needed to go. The front desk staff was over-the-top friendly and helpful. Hot tip, after your team beats the Bucs (Go Bengals), get a pizza in the bar, it was delicious.

I was here for a conference so I can't speak to the rooms but the conference was great. The hotel lobby and banquet areas are beautiful, the bathrooms were very clean. Would definitely stay here!
Be the first to ReplyHayley and the concierge team helped me set up a gift stay
Hayley and the concierge team helped me set up a gift stay to give my niece and her new husband an experience they will always remember for their honeymoon. The JW Tampa Water Street did not disappoint! My niece texted me this morning: "We are forever grateful to you for this! It's changed our lives truly."Even though the hotel is packed right now with the post-pandemic travel rush, Hayley found a way to upgrade my niece to a gorgeous corner spa room with two walls of floor to ceiling windows and a great view. She listened and learned a little about my niece and her husband and the awesome concierge team took it from there. The newlyweds were greeted with wine and chocolate and balloons and rose petals decorating their honeymoon bed! The entire stay was perfect and unique (my other niece, her sister, had a similarly awesome honeymoon there about a year ago, so it had to be a little different this time to keep it special). The whole team went out of their way to make sure the newlyweds had an experience they will remember forever. They enjoyed all the food and the day at the spa. My niece's massage therapist was Jennifer. She had only 25 minutes but she said her body felt like she had an hour or more. Jennifer was very attentive to her needs and always made sure she was comfortable. My niece struggles with severe neck and shoulder pain and Jennifer made her feel incredible in such a short time on top of having a great welcoming personality!Shawn was a bartender at Six restaurant. He was overall very accommodating and cleared up a misunderstanding about a hummus and bread plate. He made my niece and her husband feel so comfortable and really stood out as a bartender. Thanks to everyone at this hotel for making my niece's honeymoon so special! The newlyweds won dinner for two at the trivia night so they'll be back again soon, as will I and many of my loved ones!Note: Valet parking in this hotel is now separate so it won't be listed with the incidental charges on the hotel bill. Valet charges separately when you turn in your ticket outside.
Be the first to ReplyAs somebody who travels every other week this is by far one
As somebody who travels every other week this is by far one of the nicest, cleanest, brightest hotels I've ever stayed in. The service has been exceptional. The gentleman that checked me in, his name is Chianti like the wine, super nice guy...Noticed on my license that my birthday was coming up later in the week and gave me two complementary drink tickets which was very nice of him. The coffee bar in the lobby has super friendly people and really good coffee. Ordered a simple club sandwich from room service ya have to be able to open your jaw like a boa constrictor to eat it because it's so thick and so full of ingredients.
Be the first to ReplyThis hotel is one of the best in Tampa.
The Spa is amazing.I had 55 min of custom massage and I was a renewed after that. Nice views from the terrace, good location.
