Post theatre disappointment
Nice British club feel to this restaurant housed within the 5 star Corinthian hotel. Service was great but quality of Post theatre food was not where it should have been. Welsh Rarebit was (nicely) surprisingly spiced but otherwise looked, and tasted, odd. Served tepid there was hardly any cheese taste ... it looked like cake mixture piped onto toast. The buratta - tomato - shortcrust pastry dish sounded great however it tasted disjointed with overly marinated tomatoes and too much pesto for our liking. The pastry felt like an addition rather than a key part of the dish. Pigs terraine (can't remember the proper name of the dish) was tasty although would have benefitted from extra piccalilli punch. The Coppa ham was fantastic. Served simply sliced with sourdough... the highlight of all the dishes for me.

Tom Kerridge has always been - and will continue to be - an absolute hero of mine. Fact! Just before leaving on a trip to Italy I managed to get a table for his Kerridge's Bar and Grill in the Corinthia in London and so I invited a few dear friends to join Fiona and me. Expectations were extremely high and, given that one of my guests had been a Masterchef semi finalist, it was shaping up to be a good experience. My starter was Prawn Scotch Egg with Pickled Mooli and Lobster Satay Sauce. What an utterly disappointing start to the meal. The prawn elements of the dish were simply cold, dry and rubbery and almost devoid of flavour. The slice of Pickled Mooli was the only element on the plate with any real flavour. The Lobster Satay Sauce sat at the bottom of the bowl and as only a knife and fork was provided there was little opportunity to really benefit from it. (I am absolutely cringing while writing this as it's something I really don't want to do! I am so sorry Mr Kerridge!) The main of Rotisserie Himalayan Salt Aged Ribeye with Stuffed Yorkshire Pudding and Sunday Gravy was, at best OK. The Yorkshire Pudding was cold and very tough and although it's one of my favourite things it just didn't live up to the expectations. To add to our woes, the Masterchef lady ordered the Fillet of Cornish PIaice but said that it was served almost stone cold and was inedible. Of course we should have brought this to the attention of the staff but she just didn't want to make a fuss. We all chose the Amalfi Lemon Tart which was OK but not a dessert that was memorable in any way. I am holding back from writing more disparaging comments out of courtesy to Mr Kerridge. The fact that he and I had a dear mutual friend in the wonderful chef Andrew Fairlie is also tempering my comments. So in conclusion, this was most certainly the most difficult restaurant review I have every written. Whilst I appreciate it won't make for great reading on Mr Kerridge's side, the disappointment that we all felt was real. It spoiled a much anticipated lovely meal with friends. I am so so sorry.

Was really looking forward to our meal here. Lovely greeting by front of house and shown to our table. Quite dark surroundings, with loud music, but nice atmosphere. Looked at the wine list, which was extensive. However, the cost of the wine was ludicrous. The cheapest glass of 125ml was £24. I found a Pouilly Fume, which I enjoy, but changed my mind when I saw the price - £76 for a 125ml glass, or £228 for a 375ml carafe. The wine list stated that 20% tax was added to the wines, which is understandable. However, the cost of the wine before tax was hugely inflated and completely unjustifiable. I ordered a gin and tonic and my husband ordered a pint of lager. We also asked for some water. Our starters were pleasant and well presented. My husband ordered the rib eye steak with ox cheeks and I ordered the rotisserie chicken for our main. The reality should have been, that is was ox cheeks with a rib eye steak. Don't make out that it is something it is not. My husband would probably have ordered this anyway, but don't make out the rib eye steak is the star of the show, when clearly you are only giving a suggestion of that meat, whilst the main meat was the ox cheek, a significantly cheaper cut of meat. My chicken meal arrived and I asked what it was sat on, having forgotten what it said on the menu. The server had to go away and check. The menu is not extensive, and in any good restaurant I have been to, the waiting staff know the menu inside out. It is their job after all. A member of staff came by to ask how our meal was, my husband replied that his was OK. This wasn't rave feedback and yet nobody asked why his meal was just OK and just walked away. My meal came with a thigh nugget. The chicken thigh meat had been put in a crumb and fried. It was sickly and after one bite, I couldn't eat any more. We left alot of our meal, and yet, nobody seemed to care, or ask whether we enjoyed our meal, when our plates were eventually removed. We asked for some more water. We did not get any. Our drinks were finished and nobody asked if we would like anymore. At this stage, I felt like we were inconveniencing staff by asking for anything. There were many staff, but they were all running around like headless chickens, looking too busy. Our water didn't come, so we had to ask again. At this stage, we had no drinks on our table at all, except empty glasses and nobody noticed. A young server came up after we asked for the second tone for some water and filled our glasses. We then had to ask again for a bottle for the table. I was not prepared to spend much more money in the restaurant, for such poor service, which is why we asked for water. We asked for the bill and whilst waiting a server offered us the dessert menu, which we declined. I paid for the meal, noticing the 15% service charge had been added, along with a space to add an extra gratuity, which I felt was ridiculous, given the poor service. I asked where the toilets were during our meal, and the restaurant doesn't even have its own. I was walked through to the back of the hotel reception next door, to use their toilets. We left after our meal and no member if staff said goodbye or even thanked us for coming. Not the service you expect from an owner who boasts Michelin stars. Very disappointing. I needed the toilet during our mealseemed to b wasn't interested in staying any longer and so

What can I say! This was a amazing birthday treat from start to finish. Every member of staff where a joy to be around if it be the wonderful services, friendliness and professional. The food was outstanding and I was surprised to hear the there was no stars to go with it. I do want to mention the lovely Isabelle. What a find. She was the perfect addition to your London family. I will be coming back on my return to London. Thank you again for making mine time there so special.

Be the first to ReplyI've had better steaks at my local pub!
Not a great experience, which is what I was hoping and paying for. Chose the rib eye steak. Did not recognise what I was served as a rib eye steak. Rather than a steak marbled with thin layers of fat melting to produce a succulent steak, I got a long thin strip of lean meat (which they cooked rare as otherwise I imagine it would have been dry) with a thick layer of unrendered, inedible fat part way along. I also had a layer of white gristle running through my steak which I had to remove. I did bring this to the attention of our server, but she interpreted my comment as referring to the layer of fat. No come back. To go with my steak I wanted a decent bottle of red. It is humiliating when out with friends to have to find a wine you are willing to afford. The wine list is ridiculously long but nearly all the wines are three figures. I ended up paying £65 for an ordinary bottle of wine because it would be obscene to pay more, unless you have more money than moral sense.
Be the first to ReplyOk food but overpriced
Nice food, service and atmosphere but not worth the cost. Had a prawn scotch egg, tasted good, but no better than a local Chinese pram toast / fish cake. The main was rotisserie beef, again was ok, but came with no sides for £52. Ordered an £8 veg skewer, which consisted of 1 mushroom, tomato, potato and 2 slices of courgette. Had better food for 1/4 of the cost in plenty of high end steak restaurants.

We booked this place to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary, we were not disappointed. Service & food was first class. Nothing was an issue & they went above & beyond for us. Kenneth deserves a special mention for his professionalism & patience.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Experience!
We had wanted to visit this grill for a long time and are so glad we did. The restaurant is of lovely decor and has a really good atmosphere! The staff are very welcoming and very professional. The menu has a good choice as does the booklet of wines, champagnes etc!! Food is delicious and well worth the money. We would like to thank Alice, our server for the evening who was so lovely , chatty and very good at her job, it all makes such a difference to your evening. Thank you Alice and you never know, we might see you in Jersey!!!!

Everything was excellent. The staff and service are second to none, it was a great experience. Will return every time I’m in town.

We were very much looking forward to visiting this restaurant.
We arrived and the restaurant was much bigger than we thought but no matter. The staff were helpful and efficient, showing us to a reasonably placed table.
We ordered from the main menu, scallop and risotto to start and chicken and sea bass for our mains.
Food was good but just not warm enough. Nobody wants their food too hot but neither should it be sold cool. The scallop and I mean, a single scallop, was ok but not great. What really shocked was the price. £25.50 for a single scallop and a piece of black pudding is way too expensive.
The overall bill was close to £375 for 2 including wine and we both thought that for what we had and the surroundings, it was overpriced.
I really don’t like posting reviews which are not positive but I think this time, it is necessary.
Nothing but perfection
This was the second visit to kerridges for our family and they simply don’t know how to do anything other than perfection. The food is phenomenal and the staff are fantastic. The Resteraunt is beautiful and although expensive I think it’s good value for what it is.
It’s a must try Resteraunt and I will return
BIRTHDAY
My wife Jo took me today for my birthday. What a delightful restaurant. The food was ample and truely excellent. The service kind and considerate. The atmosphere very good. Kerridge's is a top level restaurant but unusually for a restaurant of this type has a really welcoming ambience and friendly informative staff. What a find we will certainly go again when we have once more saved up. A restaurant to be proud of. We will definitely now try and visit Tom's Marlow restaurant later in the year if possible.

Really nice resturant and bar area, nice toilets which are located in the Corinthia hotel. Unfortunately for me the food was a massive let down. Steak and chips was mediocre and for the price was expecting exceptional. Sea bass again was medicore so not as great as my expectiations. Am a big fan of Tom Kerridge so was let down with the food quality. It was nice but, for the price, have had much better meals elsewhere.

We had very high expectations from Kerridge’s and it did not disappoint. We’d had it booked for a while as we were staying at The Corinthia so thought we’d book this for the Sunday afternoon. We went in to just have a drink, however, on the Saturday night and the bar had a lovely choice of drinks. I highly recommend the Grasshopper cocktail. We then had some wine and as time went on, we could see the place filling up so thought we’d ask if we could change our booking to the Saturday night but they didn’t have space. That was completely fine as we asked on the off chance and they were obviously very busy so we stayed for a few more drinks and then left. We came back the next day as planned and had an amazing meal. To start, I had the risotto and my husband had the scallops, then for main I had the king oyster mushroom with deep fried hens egg and my husband had the steak. This was served as a Sunday roast and all the sides were done to perfection. The roast potatoes were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They had plenty of choice for vegetarians. We were just going to stick to 2 courses but upon seeing the dessert menu we changed our minds. I highly recommend eating here and getting a drink at their bar afterwards. Do leave plenty of time to sit and eat and drink here. You won’t regret it.

Be the first to ReplyFast becoming my favourite restaurant in London
I travel to London a lot. Love trying out 1,2,3 Michelin star places. Some are great, some are poor. 3rd time eating here and it never disappoints. Fantastic hotel and the food is always delicious. Great value in the lunch set menu too.
Be the first to ReplyMet our very high expectations.
Booked a table for Sunday lunch today for my wife's birthday. All the food was really amazing and worth the premium prices.
My daughter said her chicken breast was the best chicken she ever had and it offered an amazing taste.
Myself and wife had the beef with stuffed Yorkshire pudding. The whole experience really was out of this world and so enjoyable. Drinks were also superb from the glass of red recommended to the mocktails wife and daughter enjoyed. Starters of pate and scotch egg were also a nice way to start the meal before the mains. Would definitely visit again as the setting and atmosphere makes you feel you are somewhere special without being overly stuffy. Service was also professional and efficient.
Only small criticism was when I booked it asked if it was a special occasion, despite wife's birthday being confirmed on booking, the birthday was not acknowledged by staff or restaurant at all.
Amazing food but ridiculous additional charges
We visitied Kerridge's for Sunday lunch. I'll be honest and say after watching his negative and really quite aggressive judging on Great British Menu I sort of wanted to find a that's under seasoned or that doesn't need to be on the plate comment but I simply couldn't, the food was outstanding and I'll come on to that.
What I can complain at though are the additional charges. We were charged a 12.5% "beveridge charge". this was applied to the two glasses of champagne we had at £18 each and the bottle of water which cost £5, I have absolutely no idea what this charge represented, pouring out the drink? who knows, absolutely ridiculous and totally outrageous. On top of this was a 15% service charge, now we all know there will be a service charge but personally I've never seen anything above 12.5% which in itself is excessive. We were charged almost £40 in additional charges over and above the cost of £221 for a meal for just two people with one bittle of wine. I have to say I think in an expensive restaurant this is absolutely ludicrous.
Now I said I'd come to the food and I can only say it was outstanding. I had the scallop starter and it was amazing, the little pieces of pickled beetroot were a sensation. For mains my wife had the beef and I had the pigs cheek pie, again both were superb. My wife had the apple tart tatin for desert and again it was sublime.
So in summary magnificent food but absolutely outrageous and unacceptable additional charges.
Average at best
Had dinner this evening and to be honest the whole evening was pub grub at best.
The lady that we meet at arrival was not very friendly and seeing as my wife had booked this for my birthday she threw a card at me and said happy birthday and walked off!
The food was ok.
The pate was like eating cat food, both in presentation and taste.
The mains: the pie was like a dense sausage roll - too meaty and with no sweet element to cut though it.
The chicken had some sort of “chicken nuggets” which was far too sweet and not at all nice to eat.
The male manager walks around like he is an ex boxer and the whole restaurant is just not a pleasant experience.
£200 for a 2 course meal with a couple of glasses of wine.
Should have gone elsewhere.
