Excellent with a few minor hiccups
The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful - one of the most stunning dining room spaces in the Twin Cities. Food was delicious: we enjoyed the chicken samosas, red curry with chicken, and bucatini talay. A few issues prevented this from being a perfect review: 1. The bucatini was supposed to have shrimp, squid, and scallops, but there was not a single piece of squid on our plate. When we mentioned this to our server, he insisted that there was indeed squid. We pushed back and finally he agreed to bring out a portion of squid. Being accused of lying definitely put a damper on our dinner. 2. Red curry had amazing flavor but was very liquidy and more like a soup than a curry. The small portion of rice served with it did not seem like enough for the amount of curry. 3. The lotus tonic cocktail was fine, but not worth the price ($15). Much of the menu seemed expensive/overpriced.

Beautiful atmosphere and attentive servers. The food was very good, but more expensive for the type of dishes served (pasta, curry, fried rice dishes for >$30).

The dishes were well prepared and not overly piquantWe enjoyed the Duck Laab, the Chicken Red Curry, and the Passionfruit Cremeux--all on the advice of our excellent server, Monty. The dishes were well prepared and not overly piquant.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent but expensive.
A welcome addition to the Twin Cities food scene. Light airy decor, excellent service, inventive food. Parking is a problem in this residential area. As with most full service restaurants, the bill will come to $100 per person if you have drinks, appetizers, main dishes, wine, dessert and a 20% tip.

The food was very good but we had reserved a table that the previous customers we still using when our time came. We were offered a table at the uncovered patio which felt a little like eating an expensive meal at a take out window. In retrospect we should have eaten at the bar which was not suggested. It looked like a lovely restaurant if you can eat inside. Good food beautifully presented.

Scrumptious dinner with friends. Beautiful space, nice variety of food and cocktails. Everything was good, but particularly enjoyed the samosas and the red curry chicken. Served for sharing.

We had the best server!! She explained items on the menu and how they will be served and gave suggestions on cocktails that I would most enjoy. Food was tremendous and presentation lovely.
Be the first to ReplyTasty but pricey.
Visited Khaluna on the recommendation of a local and had a nice dining experience. The basil wings, chicken samosas and rainbow rice were delicious. The Mango fish was good, but at $40 I was expecting more if I am honest. The chicken red curry was so tasty but again pricey at $32. The decor was beautiful and overall experience was great, just the prices a little off putting when you include the "wellness tax" and tip

We had the coconut lassi and Counting the Ways cocktail with shrimp rolls to start. Both drinks were very good - would recommend. We then had two entrees: the Massaman beef curry and the Mango Fish. We enjoyed both and would likely just share one entree the next time we go (we took about 2/3 of the curry home with us - looking forward to those left-overs!). For dessert we had the passion fruit cremeux, which was beautiful and refreshing (it was a warm day and coconut ice cream on top was lovely and cold) - I'd definitely order that again. The only tiny thing was that it was a little pricey, but we both agreed we'd come back again!

I was not impressed. After hearing a lot of hype from my friends the expectations were high. The place is designed tastefully and the crowd is fancy and fun. But thats it! My duck rice was extremely spicy, the duck pieces were dry, the cocktail i ordered was just ok. The prices were on a higher end plus added 21 percent wellness tax and asked for a tip. Not sure if the place is worth it.
