KinKan LA Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
Excellent expérience at Baltaire’s: meat, wine, service, all was perfect
Excellent experience at Baltairés it's rare to have meat that arrives hot, even simmering, and so good. The desserts were succulent, with a special mention for the "BUTTERSCOTCH POT DE CRÈME", which was Jimmy. The wine selection is fantastic, with an international wine list. The service was impeccable, the waiters very attentive and the sommelier's advice very good. Great restaurant with a very intimate decor. We'll be glad to come back the next time we're in Los Angeles.
Perfect
Gorgeous dinner at Baltaire. The meat was perfect (taste and cook). Amazing selection of wines from all over the world. Sure you will fine the good wine for your donner there.
My favorite restaurant in LA.
The food is as special as the chef herself. I want to visit more often because the pandemic did a number on her business, but my wallet says otherwise. That said, I will always come back on special occasions!
Most underrated restaurant in LA.
The menu is always changing so, if you can afford it, you can go monthly. It's good it's not packed with hip foodies but I want this place to be recognized as every bit as good as N Naka or Hayato.
Never disapppoints!
This is our favorite places for dinner in Brentwood. Our server (Kynnedy D--our favorite) was attentive and humorous. The food was delicious as always: one petite filet mignon, one filet trio, and one Boston Bibb salad. We loved our wine--Chateau De Parnay, "Le Blanson," Saumur Champigny, Loire Valley, France. The ambiance is lovely as well. Do make a reservation as we've never dined here without one, and the place is always bustling.
I don't say this lightly but this might be the best meal
I don't say this lightly but this might be the best meal I've had in LA. Every course was so flavorful. The crab and the smoky abalone were real highlights. The sake/wine pairings were generous and perfectly matched each dish. We'll almost certainly be back
Baltaire
Baltaire was the site of our most recent bros dinner. Nothing like a good bros dinner. As Michael Scott once said, "Bros before hos. Why? Because your bros are always there for you. They have got your back after your ho rips your heart out for no good reason." The 3 bros sat down in the beautiful open air patio on a nice evening with no humidity. Gotta love LA. The feng shui in here is immaculate, as it just feels like a completed space with no clutter. Everything is as it should be. First and foremost, I need to shout out our waiter Jose. He was JOKES! Engaging with our un-witty banter and humor, just a good people person overall. He also had some great recommendations for wine and food, URGING us to get the octopus as a starter and what a fantastic call it was. Jose even played along with us as we asked what wine he recommended when we were just going to get the cheapest one anyway ahahahaha. We are on the come up but the bros aren't there yet! For starters, we went with the aforementioned octopus, the tuna tartare, and a mix of west/east coast oysters. I'm biased but west coast oysters are LIKE THAT. Apps were fantastic, no misses there. For mains, 2 of the bros got the filet mignon and one got his RARE like a psychopath. He dug his heels in the sand and said that at a good steakhouse you should always order rare. I couldn't disagree more, but this type of civil discourse is what pushes our society forward. He also grew up on a sheep farm so maybe he does have a bit more credibility than me... I always ask for affogato for dessert even though it's rarely on any menu and, much to my chagrin, most times they say they can't do it. Jose met my request with a furrowed brow, light smile, and a quick head nod while saying "Of course" in a tone as confident as Floyd Mayweather when talking about any potential opponent. THANK YOU JOSE THAT AFFOGATO SLAPPED. After dinner, the bros hopped in an uber and ended up playing Super Smash Bros and Rocket League into the wee hours of the night. A true bros night. IG @jnov_

My wife and I treated a friend to dinner here. Our server (Jonas A.) was attentive and humorous. The food was delicious as always: two petite filet Mignon, Maine Diver Scallops, jumbo asparagus, hand-cut fried, and Beignets for dessert. The ambiance is lovely as well. Do make a reservation as we've never dined here without one, and the place is always bustling.
Chef Nan blew us away again.
Back after 2 years and the food did not disappoint. The food was so flavorful. Service was so attentive. The chef was so engaging and the staff extremely knowledgeable. My stomach is happy and full.
Save you sanity
Arrived on time for our reservation. Were made to wait 35 min in the extremely loud and full bar that had live music reminiscent of a bad 80s cruise ship band. Nobody could hear themselves think as people who arrived for later reservations were sat before us. We finally found the manager who was not very apologetic or nice for that matter, he went to the host stand and arranged for us to be brought to our table. The servers were not very attentive came 2 times throughout, one of them mentioned she was so sorry it was so loud and she had to shout at us. Nice right? The food was fine, not the most mind blowing, but also not awful. The drinks were ok, nothing to write home about. I don’t think I’ve ever felt less comfortable at a dining experience, so if anyone wants to shout at their friend to maintain a dinner convo, get treated like garbage by the employees, and have mediocre food/drinks while being a captive audience to a bar mitzvah style rendition of a Jackson 5 song while trying to enjoy a ‘Michelin’ rated meal, Baltaire is gonna be your jam!
Familiar dishes, yet somehow delightfully reinvented.
At first glance, you might see the list of traditional Thai dishes on the menu, but you'll quickly discover that each has some sort of spin to it. Hard to describe, like an unexpected ingredient here or there, or a different way to prepare a salad. My boyfriend and I enjoyed their take of the beef stew and Tom yum. The soft shell crab was delicious in every bite. The waiter shared with us how each ingredient was carefully picked, and we truly appreciate how fresh all the dishes tasted. I think the dishes are unique here, and you wouldn't find something comparable in other LA establishments. The entrance is very unassuming, easily missed on Vigil street. But don't miss coming to KinKan. It's worth it!
This was a really special experience! My husband and I had
This was a really special experience! My husband and I had the smaller tasting menu (which was actually extremely filling) which was compromised of 4 savory dishes + dessert from around the world (but each with some thai influence.) My favorite was the starting chirashi bowl where each component was perfect and tender. The chef is super friendly and chatted with us through the meal, and even the smallest details are well thought out (like the music matched where each dish was from, geographically.) I'm eager to go back and taste the bigger tasting menu at some point!
Try a fixed menu at the bar.
The chef is wonderful, creative and playful. She takes you on a tour of her favorite spots with plays on Japanese and Thai foods fused with influences from her experiences in Mexico, the UK and Spain. Absolute delight.
Incredible, creative and beautiful food and a really fun
Incredible, creative and beautiful food and a really fun time rarely go together, but with chef Nan Yimcharoen you get both! Sit at the chef's counter to have the chance to hang with the most laid back, friendly and FUN serious chef who is clearly having a great time herself. The food is delicious and each dish is visually gorgeous on equally attractive plates. The curated playlist to go along with each course adds to the festive atmosphere that makes every diner feel like they are at a party. Nothing stuffy here. We can't wait to go back again!
I've only had a few food-gasms - this was one.
One of my 3 top dining experiences in Los Angeles. It's a delightful and heady experience, without being pretentious, as the prix-fix menu worked its way down south Asia. I won't pretend to critique each dish, but say there was not one dish that didn't present something new and delectable. At several courses, it was also very satisfying. Nan was such an approachable host, and the staff clearly enjoys sharing the experience with diners. Expensive, but worth it.
Onsen tamago: pretty good, big piece of uni, egg cooked
Onsen tamago: pretty good, big piece of uni, egg cooked nicely, broth was very flavorful and the leeks added nice texture contrast Crab shumai: interesting concept, but it kind of felt like they just jammed as much seafood as they could into the wrapper; lacking finesse. I respect the amount of seafood given though. Flavor was a big one dimensional Crab legs: pretty much standard crab legs; some of them were a little too flaky/would break apart easily; would rather have whole pieces of leg. Corn accompaniment was kind of random Lazy bear crab curry: despite the cute presentation, it was surprisingly delicious. Curry flavor was really prominent but not overpowering the crab, rice was not mush, and they gave lots of crab. Crab carbonara: cool presentation using the head of the crab; another big piece of uni and nice utilization of all the crab using crab innards to build the sauce Crab tom yum shabu shabu: nice flavor, not too strong, wontons were decent, crab was nice. Honey ice cream: nice texture contrast with puffed rice and crab cracker was pretty coola
Horrible food and service. Go somewhere else.
Don’t quite understand where the good reviews come from… The Food is very very MEDIOCRE to be nice. Salmon crispy rice, rice was super hard, lobster Mac and cheese was very bland, we had to dip it in our sauce to give little more flavor. Branzino was small portion and salty. We dipped it in Mac and cheese to make it little better tasting. Drinks were not good, didn’t leave us wanting to order more. The old fashioned tasted like Potpourri and on top of that we told them we had birthday and nothing… for fine dining restaurant I definitely have been to way better places in LA. If it wasn’t for the fact we were there for a birthday, I would have definitely walked out. Also told them twice we had birthday and nothing. would not go again!
Local Gem/World class amazing restaurant!
I had very low expections- this is popular place and it was a Saturday evening- surely very crowded. Well- i stand corrected. Meredith , manager I think, was wonderful. She helped our group seat ourselves together at bar seating for my friend‘s birthday. Greg was an exceptional bartender. He made a cocktail I‘d never heard of- and it was one of the best things ever, ever. The ahi tartar was good, the octopus , the steak tacos…… and whoa, I forget what they call the beignets but they‘re even better than beignets. Meredith did not lead us astray even once; greg neither. And Shoutout to Marco who served our table. Pro tip- if you‘re smarter than I am, request extra tarot chips w the ahi! I usually do not leave my area but Baltaire does everything above and beyond. Advice from a local! (Ask me anything )

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

Give the best answerNewbie sellers— how fast do your reservations sell?
I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
