Kinn Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
We were really looking forward to our meal here esp because
We were really looking forward to our meal here esp because I love Korean food with a modern upscale twist to it, but unfortunately they missed the mark on a lot of items. The mushroom and eggs dish has a good smokiness to it and the eggs were poached well but the undercooked celery pieces really threw us off. Maybe a softer, eastern vegetable would've worked better? The bibimbap, which is one of the most well known Korean dishes, didmt even have gochujang sauce in it. The rice was mushy and the bowl that was served in was way too big for the serving size. I understand that modern twists/fusion dishes don't exactly follow the classical recipe, but it was far too different to be called a bibimbap. It had kale with no gochujang-based sauce and not even any carrots or bean sprouts. The sweet potato cake didn't have any sweet potato taste to it. We thought it just tasted like a vanilla banana cake that was dry and crusty. I think the best thing was the fried octopus, and I'm glad they at least know their strengths because they said that was their signature dish. For the course price this place really wasn't worth it for us.

My favorite items on the menu were probably the bibambap, octopus, and albalone. Nothing on the menu was super special in my opinion though, it was all familiar flavors. For example, one of the dishes had kimchi but the fermentation flavor tasted similar to Taiwanese kimchi that I have had and made before. Therefore, to me I didn't feel that the dishes were as unique or special since I could find those flavors at other restaurants (less high end and pricey too). The space was cramped too since we sat at the bar and since the room was pretty small, it was a bit loud. The service was also mediocre. I asked for water a couple of times and they only gave it after a while. For the price, I feel that service could be better for sure. The ingredient were fresh but for the price, I'm not sure the tasting menu is worth it. Apart from the abalone and octopus, I don't see there were any pricey ingredients used so I'm unsure why the menu is so expensive for what it is. I think other tasting menus I've had are definitely more worth it. There is a parking lot around the corner for the restaurant (valet only) or you could find street parking too since it's in ktown. Overall, I would probably not try this place again unless the menu drastically changed.
Everything was perfect.
Glad I was able to have the experience before their last day. Once you finish a dish you just want more. I hope to try chef ki's food again.
Im so sad this place is closing, it was one of the best
Im so sad this place is closing, it was one of the best meals ive ever had. Every dish was so creative, thiughtful and exceptionally prepared. Where else would you find perilla ice cream and tomato with jelly? Every dish had its highlights and i cant recommend this place enough. Thank you for an amazing meal and memory.

Loved this place! (My boyfriend surprised me with this dinner for my birthday so I could also be biased). Very cute, intimate place with moody lighting (could be bad for photos). I went a week ago but I still think about the crispy octopus. I can see how they pulled Korean elements in each dish which didn't really stand out to me, but nonetheless it was a delicious meal. We also got a bottle of makgeolli which was sweet and very yummy. Valet parking in the back was $10 but you could also just go to madang and buy something for their 2 hour validation. Overall, loved this place and would go back during the different seasons to try out the menus!
In the middle of hustling and bustling ktown is Kinn.
The omakase is reasonably priced at $95/person and had a good variety totaling 7 dishes. They rotate the menu quite a bit so we got the decadent autumn menu on a cool November evening. My friends say the summer menu was a bit brighter in the flavor profile to match the weather and appetite. I appreciate that thought process. Overall everything was delicious and the standouts for me are the steamed abalone and the crispy octopus. Definitely left full and happy and ready for food coma. Great wine selection. We brought our own and bought a bottle. Service was warm and fantastic. They kept the pours coming while we chatted the night away. Good for intimate night out or friends gatherings. Typical ktown backlot valet or limited street parking.
The food is spot on.
My favorite dish was the octopus. It had a perfect crunch on the outside while being super tender inside. Not to mention the flavor was perfect. The first dish with the Mushrooms (sorry cannot recall the name) was also one of my favorites. Subtle but incredible flavor. The ambiance is great. Warm feeling. The staff were very nice. I would have given them 5 stars if only for 1 slight issue, not with the staff or the food. They sat us at the bar, with plenty of room as it was not that busy but the couple that came in after us they say right next to us at the bar. The gentleman was constantly clearing his nose. I had to keep my back turned to them as the loud constant snorting sound was just grossing me out. My wife had asked me what was wrong, and I whispered to her and then she could not un-hear at that point, I wish I had never told her. She could not hear it that well because his wife or girlfriend was sitting next to me. Honestly, if you have to clear your nose that often and that loudly you should just stay home. I should have asked to move but I was thinking since the size is small I was going to hear that no matter where we sat. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
I love how this place is small and intimate.
I do love how their menu is seasonal. Which makes you have to come back to try their new dishes. The best dish is the Octopus. I did leave slightly hungry cause their dishes was small, but I still like to come back to try their new menu. Service was super!!! 5 star.

Everything was delicious (couldn't find a weak spot if I tried), you can tell the love is in every dish and every bite. That octopus tho... insane. Could eat it every day until I die and never get sick of it. This may be controversial but I spent like 3x more at Providence a couple months ago and was not even 1/2 as satisfied with that meal. Thank you for inviting us to experience this amazing food, and for making it approachable. I'll be back soon.
Kinn has been on my radar for over a year now and finally
Kinn has been on my radar for over a year now and finally had the chance to give it a try. I'm giving Kinn 3.5 stars despite not being completely blown away by the experience. It is certainly a very good restaurant, but some of the dishes lacked flavor. Tasting Menu 7 course at $95. Here were my favorite dishes. Mushroom & Egg- This surprisingly was my favorite dish of the night. The flavor of the mushrooms stood right out, and the creaminess of the poached egg took it to another level. Charcoal Grilled Mackerel - This dish came is second of favorite. The mackerel was perfect grilled. The skin was crispy, and meat was flaky, fatty, and moist. It we served with house made kimchi, which was perfect together. Crispy Octopus - Third favorite dish of the course. I love Octopus, and KInn does damn well. The octopus had a perfect crispy on the outside while still being tender. The gochujang aioli was lacking flavor, tho. The rest of the dishes were ok Abalone- didn't taste much of the abalone at all. Braised Pork - This, to me, was your average smoked pork shoulder and char for that nice crust. Autumn Bibimbap- I appreciate all textures of this course with various veggies, but seriously, flavor was lacking. Service was outstanding and professional. They have street parking and valet. Overall , we enjoyed Kinn. I do recommend giving them a try.

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
