Kobé Japanese Steakhouse - Brandon Reviews from The Last Year
We arrived at 7:30 PM.
We were told 45 minutes to wait. We waited, no problem at all. Bottom line, it's 9:50 PM and our chef just came out. Service needs some help. Haven't eaten yet, so I can't comment on the food.
Fun and so much food! Never disappointed.
Definitely make a reservation as this place is always busy! We love to come for group outings and for the ambiance.

I dropped $375 for birthday experience that truly was an experience but before I get into the why, I will give the positives. The food was plentiful and tasty. The Chef Nhan was also nice and we enjoyed his company. Now strap in for the negatives. We had a reservation for a specific which we arrived at 10 minutes early. We were told they were preparing our table (lie # 1) and it would be a few minutes, no big deal as I said we were early........at first. We stood around watching the fish in the indoor pond for 10 min, 20 min. (at the point I enquired about being seated and told they were waiting for the Chef and he would just be 1 minute (lie # 2)), 30 Minutes still watching the fish......., 35 minutes we are told out table was being prepared, deja-vu? 40 minutes and we are seated and we wait, and wait, and wait. Finally, someone comes and takes are order and the race is on. From this point on I felt we were in a speed eating contest as the 2 courses before the meal were in front of us lightning quick. Does not sound that bad, right? Well, the Chef came in finally (at this point we are an hour behind schedule, even with extra time built in) and the show started but don't blink or you will have missed it. (It is now closing time and obvious that we were a hinderance to everyone being able to leave. We started to eat our meals and not 5 minutes in we were being asked if we wanted take home boxes. Ummmm ok got the picture we will hurry. 2 minutes later our dinner was then sitting a plastic box, Then waitress goes down a list....."ok, We will get the cupcakes (that we brought), then bring the checks, then we are done". I almost got whiplash, but what speed demons they were, now after seating us 45 minutes late. So, the cupcakes are rushed out and we pay the check. We had signed up previously for the birthday club and were supposed get $25 off the check. Nope not there. We addressed it with our waitress and were told sorry it wasn't in the system after 5 days and we could use it next time. Realllly we just spent $375 for a dinner and show that lasted all of maybe 7 minutes, made us late for our other plans, and now you are not going to honor the discount? This was a birthday dinner and after we are getting ready to leave a few people show up with drums and blast a 5 second version happy birthday song and are nice enough to give the 3 second Japanese version too. AgainAgain, this is while we were getting ready to go. We walkwalked out the door (the place was empty except for us) suddenly out comes the same staff that was waiting on us just minutes before. I just want to apologize to Kobes steakhouse for being such a bother to them and we promise we will never disgrace your establishment again. Great birthday dinner and due to lack of time management we missed our engagement. Come to KOBE where you will wait and wait regardlessregardless of if you have a set time. Then we will rush through dinner and a show, only because we are running short on OUR time. You must hurry and pay and get out get out get out, we only want your $$$ that is all we are about. A bit more focus on customer service and experience would go a looong way.

Went on a Friday evening as a party of 3 and was sat immediately. Service was great but the atmosphere sucked. We were seated near the bar and they were letting large parties who were waiting to get a table, overflow and congregate next to tables and other people eating. Basically hovering over our table for the majority of our meal. Besides that, the food was mediocre at best. I asked for my steak rare and it came out medium well. The food is pretty mid for the prices they're charging. Wouldn't recommend if you're looking for something that tastes decent.

Great food & service! The amount of food you get is definitely worth it! I had leftovers for two days.

Uber order was stolen, uber called the restaurant to have it replaced, restaurant refused. i tried calling multiple times, no one answers the phone. placed another order on uber eats and they never prepared it until after they close and the order was canceled.
I had reservations and they held my card for my family of 6.
it was my daughters birthday and it was RUINED! Requested Chef Shawn..put us with Chef Tony. Ordered chicken fried rice..chef gave it to the other person and later just cooked me chicken. I also said no onions in rice and ot only got onions but multiple onions. ordered extra broccoli and carrots and no onions for veggies..got 1 broccoli 4 big chunks of carrots that was hard and a boat load of onions! Then they came to sing happy birthday and lit the candle and burnt the dessert in the process! didn't give her a new one just told her to hurry and blow it out NEVER AGAIN!
We had reservations at 7pm ALL Guests arrived at 7:05.
We got seated at 7:52pm. No excuse. They got the others guests seated before us. 4 guest etc but not our party of 9. Big disappointment. The only thing is that Chef Coco was amazing he was funny and kept us entertained. Is 10:17 and we are now leaving Kobe. Not Planing on coming back.
Kobe Japanese Steakhouse is an experience.
Expect quite the wait, large crowds, ample portions (kinda), entertaining service and a bill the far exceeds the quality. Me and my wife met some family for dinner at Kobe's on Thursday night. We attempted to do reservations but nothing was available trying to book two days in advance for the timeslot of 7pm. Apparently, that is prime Kobe time. Instead, we showed up and 6pm and got our name on the list. We were seated a little after 7pm. We were placed at our table and our server was around quickly. Her name was Muffin. She was friendly, polite and cordial. She told jokes, took orders and helped get us all situated before the chef came out. MrNiceTai was our chef. He was also super nice. He told great jokes and kept the banter going with politically incorrect jokes, innuendos and other pleasantries. I was glad my daughter is only 15 months, and wasn't old enough to ask questions later. The food was good and was about the same as it always is. Fried rice made fresh. Noodles heated up. Veggies charred on the hibachi and meats cooked to order. I got the steak and chicken. The meat definitely seemed to be in short supply compared to the noodles and rice. Even the veggies were a little on the smaller portion side. The Yum Yum sauce was endless though. Thinking back on the experience, I don't think I would want to go back though. The entire time, Muffin and MrNiceTai seemed to be doing a schtick. A routine. And they both reminded the entire table multiple times that they tell their jokes and stories to get tips. They want good tips. That was the running theme. Make sure you tip us. You could overhear it from the other tables. When you get the bill, Kobe automatically charges 18% gratuity. That goes to the "house". Then, you're still expected to tip the chef and the server each separately. Our bill to the house was $95. On top of that, I paid an extra $20 to the our server/chef but I'm pretty sure she didn't split that with the chef. She told us she would keep any cash for herself. I wanted to tip in cash. Not on my card. She said anything on the card machine would go to the chef. In the end, it seems like the chef and server are battling with the house and each other to ensure they get tipped since the 18% typical tip is already added and the house takes it all. It turns the experience into a show that seems desperate at times for the people doing the hard work at the tables. I don't make it a habit of going to Kobe because it's not the greatest food to begin with but now that this pay system is in place, it's definitely not worth it. If you're looking for an entertaining dinner with decent food that will fill you up and don't mind paying an arm and leg, check this place out.
Will go back another time to re-try but was not impressed
Will go back another time to re-try but was not impressed with service, the experience the other tables were having looked great, though. We had reservations and were seated at the approximate time which was nice since it was our first time and didn't know what to expect. We sat for 25 minutes waiting for our server. They didn't show up at all during that time- not even to take drink orders or introduce themselves. The restaurant was busy but wasn't packed by any means. We came here to celebrate a birthday and ended up walking out before even getting served, unfortunately. Not sure if this is a place that automatically adds gratuity, I'm assuming so, but it just wasn't what we expected.
Dinner was Great
This restaurant was awesome. I will definitely go back! From the hostess to the server to the chef made the experience worth it!
Not my first time here, but the hostess was too Unfriendly!
Not my first time here, but the hostess was too Unfriendly! She said the wait was 15 min and we agreed, we said ' thank you"and no response from her. We finally got seated and again said "thank you" and no response again. We ordered and got the food and the rolls was enough and we ended up taking the bento box home ,,it was on a to go box when they delivered it. I opened it at home with no shrimp, ( i ordered shrimp hibachi bento). And on our way out we said bye and thank you to the hostess but we were ignored again. The waitress was okay, did not appreciate the hostess and the food missing the shrimp.

You go to the back to place an order as it says in the front. For takeout orders proceed to the back. The girl with the glasses tells me what would I like to order. I said can I see a menu. She proceeds to look and comes back and says they don't have a menu. What kind of place doesn't have a menu to order from when they tell you to go to the back to place a takeout order. And to think I was going to come this weekend with a large party to have a sit down dinner. Not a chance won't be back. Very unprofessional. It's because they just work there so they don't care. If they owned the place I'll bet you they would find the menu. Do not recommend the place. Go to Bangkok Sushi in Odessa. Much better place.
The food is always top notch.
Reservations recommended. Service is usually very good and love the chefs banter and techniques. A go to place for our special dinners, birthdays, and in town guests with a great atmosphere.

Kobe is good but so slow for sitting people so I would rather not go and just go to sukra

This used to be our favorite hibachi spot but it's been really really disappointing. They have started charging extra for every little thing. I used to get teriyaki sauce instead of the two given sauces no problem. Now they have started charging a $1 for every additional little sauce fill. They won't even let you bring any home so
Kobe is an amazing place for Hibachi.
This was honestly my first time going to a Hibachi grill, and I enjoyed it a lot! The Chef was so kind and cooked very well, and the atmosphere is very clean. Highly suggested if you are looking to eat at a Hibachi grill, or Japanese food.
Came to Kobe for a family member's birthday.
They accommodated us in two large tables with two chefs and two waitresses. The service was excellent as well as the cooking show and jokes. Overall a very nice experience. The food was very good and extremely filling with large portions.
We love going to Kobe! Our group of 9 are regular patrons
We love going to Kobe! Our group of 9 are regular patrons and are never disappointed! Our fave chef is Sean. He great, best personality. Best food and great portions! We truly have the most fun with him! There are others that rate high on the list too! Tonight we had a blast. Celebrating a cpl birthdays and I'm posting the videos I took of the guys singing and entertaining us! Always fun! I enjoyed my rice, noodles, veggies and sirloin all topped with Yum Yum sauce! Yummy! We all had different versions of the grilled steak, chicken & seafood topped off with fried rice, veggies & pasta noodles. Sooo good! Go check it out. The more people the more fun! Make reservations to avoid the wait! I highly recommend!
I didn't even get hibachi here and I still had a good time
I didn't even get hibachi here and I still had a good time at the bar area. I had sushi/sashimi and cocktails. The sashimi melted in my mouth and the maki pieces had a great fish-to-rice ratio. The interior is also beautiful; you're greeted with a fish pond at the entrance. Service is quick and friendly.
We go to Kobes for all our birthday celebrations.
We had a reservation for 5 people at 6 pm. They didn't seat us till 620. Then we had to move tables because they sat us at the wrong one. The exhaust vent was dripping grease onto the grill. Then my daughter gets the vegetarian delight with just broccoli and carrots which they charge you 4 dollars for that. Normally I have no issues with it cause you get a lot. They only had like a cup of veggies for her meal. Then for the rest they didn't have enough veggies for everyone else. Luckily my son doesn't eat them so not too big of a deal. The waitress made a sloth look fast. We waited for drink refills for a while. It just has been declining service wise for the price you pay. We will probably look for another place to celebrate our birthdays from now on.
Over priced and a very COLD experience, I will not return to this restaurant.
We had a reservation and they seated us 20 min past our reservation then I noticed they had paper napkins and also the temperature was 66 degrees all the customers were wearing winter jackets sweat shirts I also had a jacket on. I did mention to our waitress it was too cold and she replied it will get warmer when they start cooking however when they served our soup that was hot when served got ice cold very quickly, I asked for chopsticks three times before I got them and was the last one to complete my salad and the chef was already serving , the next thing I noticed was they have cut back on ingredients no onions in the fried rice no cucumbers in our salad and the vegetables were overcooked and very skimpy, the chef was burning food . For2 bill came to just under 100 dollars and we had no Alcohol For a number 1 rated Japanese steak house I would give them a rating no more than a 3. This was at the location Brandon Florida.
Long wait for ok food, don't expect tableside grill if you dont have a group
My husband and I were in Florida for a few days and having always heard good things about Japanese steakhouses, we were excited to try Kobe when we found it. Well our first disappointment came when we were finally added to the waitlist and learned that since it was just the two of us with no reservation, we would not be able to enjoy the tableside grill. We decided to go ahead and wait for a regular table, which was another 20 minutes. Not a big deal, we could see they had a couple groups ahead of us. Well, once we were finally seated, our server brought out drinks and took our orders fairly quickly, and then our salads, but then we waited an HOUR for our entree to arrive. During that time, no one came to check on us or say a word, but we noticed all the tables around us were served and one even ate and left before our food even came out. The food itself was ok, definitely not worth the wait though, and my husband's steak was actually a little dry. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.
Horrible Reservation Experience and rude manager.
Horrible experience. We had reservations at 5. The restaurant was in total chaos. We stood in the chaos for about 20 minutes and I asked why we were not being seated (since we had reservations). I was told it would be a while. When I asked how long, I was told they could not tell me. After a bit, I asked to speak to a manager (who was rude) and told me as soon as they found a chef, we would be seated. I asked how long -- about 10 minutes. I waited 10 minutes and found the manager and asked him if he found the chef. Totally surprised him. Indicated that a reservation did not mean we would be seated at the time of the reservation (never ran into that before). After 45 minutes, we were seated. However, no chef -- Waiter provided salad and soup and we had to wait another 30 minutes for the chef. Unacceptable!! Why make a reservation
Awesome
Awesome Birthday celebration, everyone at table had a great time. Both Muffin and Coco did a great job. Steak and lobster was delicious 😋

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
