Kona Grill Troy Reviews from The Last Year

Both were delicious! Will definitely return for both

Ashlie is frickin amazing.
.. this restaurant doesn't even compare to how great her service and looks are. 10/10
The food is always amazing.
The best experience is sitting at the bar on the patio side during a warm sunny day. Tiffany the bartender is a great server and always makes sure you leave having a great experience!
Burg and Brew hell yeah! The only thing that would make it
Burg and Brew hell yeah! The only thing that would make it better is if they served joints with every purchase of a brew. Then I would give em a 15/5
My husband and I so enjoyed our time at Kona Grill tonight.
Our server, Laurel, was so accommodating and attentive. She had a great cheery energy and quick service time. We enjoyed talking with her everytime she visited our table. We got the Happy Hour apps tonight and boy were they a hit. The sliders are absolutely delicious and always a crowd favorite. We will definitely be back, and we will be requesting Laurel!
Laurel was an amazing server, knowledgeable about the menu
Laurel was an amazing server, knowledgeable about the menu and super friendly. The food was great too!

I hate to give this 3 stars because my boyfriend and I were excited to try it. I'll start with the positives; Jenna, our server was awesome and very sweet. The beef sliders and sweet potato fries were awesome and I would say $21 was a fair price for them. The drinks were great too I got the raspberry mojito and bubbly patio. Now for the unfortunate negatives. There were a lot of fruit flies, and the smell was odd. It smelled like the back of an uncleaned bar. The worst part is yet to come. We ordered the calamari to start, our first mistake- literally. I wish I took a picture lol. Thank goodness our great server Jenna took it off our bill. It was like eating small rubber bands and my stomach started hurting almost immediately after. Lastly, the music...It sounded like we were in a club in Miami...Not fitting for the vibe the restaurant intends to give off. Will not be coming back sadly. If it weren't for Jenna our experience would have been ruined.
My girlfriend and I have been to Kona a number of times and
My girlfriend and I have been to Kona a number of times and every time they were busy. This past Saturday was no exception and we paid for it with fairly slow service and questionable food quality. We were seated almost immediately as we had a reservation. After a short time our waitress, Amanda, appeared and provided us with menus. If there were any specials I never heard her say. We ordered a bottle of wine to be served with dinner. The price on the medium grade bottle was in line with other restaurants in the area. My girlfriend ordered the Prime Rib and I ordered the "Big Island Ribeye." Amanda brought the wine and had some trouble opening it. I assisted and we all had a laugh about it. I have to point out that the atmosphere in the restaurant was more cafeteria than fine dining and was extremely loud. Coupled together with families, large groups, and screaming kids made the experience "interesting." Good people-watching but beyond that, somewhat annoying. Our waitress was so busy she seemed to forget about us at times. When she delivered our entrees I was surprised that the prime rib looked like something other than Prime Rib ($43) and my "Big" Ribeye looked beaten into submission and was less than a half inch thick. (Normally I would expect a ribeye to be an inch to an inch and a quarter thick - especially for $44! The potatoes that were served with my steak were pretty ragged looking making me wonder if some of them were salvaged from someone else's plate! The best deal of the night was a piece of carrot cake that was easily 4 inches high by 4 inches wide and deep! What really surprised me was the coffee we were served at $4 per cup - standard cup! Standard coffee! Considering the questionable food quality and mediocre service, I doubt that we will return. At best, they earn a "3!" No better. . . .
We went to have a nice dinner out.
Had been once before. My prime rib had a rub on it that was quite spicy-not at all what I expected from prime rib. It was also was overdone. My boyfriend's ribeye was ordered as medium rare but was pretty much medium. I was disappointed that, if I wanted a salad, it would be ala carte. For the amount we paid, I would have liked that option. The only thing I can say is the carrot cake was good. Will not return.
Great food, great drinks, great service!
There were 12 in our party, celebrating a surprise dinner for my daughter, which is not the easiest situation for a wait person, however, they were efficient, pleasant, helpful and the food was DELICIOUS! A few people in our party had never been there and said that Kona is a keeper!
Not so good
Very disappointed with food, service and prices. Haven't been here in about 6 months and it has changed and not for the better. I had the fish and chips- 1 piece of fish, 12 steak fries and that's it for $27!. Sushi rolls were smaller with price increased. Menu very different and you have to do your bill on a tablet. Service slow. This used to be a good place, but we all agreed, we will not be back. Too bad.
Disappointed with menu changes
Very disappointing, not what it used to be! The menu has changed, the dishes we loved and would go back for multiple times a year are not what they used to be. Sea Bass previously came with fried rice and a veggie, now just a veggie and $14 extra to add fried rice. The yamada roll has been totally revamped and not nearly as good. We used to love this restaurant, now have to find a new favorite.
Nice place for diner in troy
Nice atmosphere. The food is very good. Nice place for business diner in troy. A little bit too cold with climate system. Warmer would be better
