I have been working on University Ave.
for a couple months now, and I just recently discovered Costas. I have ordered their many breakfast options, pastas, burgers, you name it. I can't rave about this restaurant enough! BEST place on the University Ave. to dine at! Could NOT be happier! Everybody go check this place out! The staff is awesome too and it's a beautifully decorated restaurant!
Be the first to ReplyGreat daytime lunch place in University District.
The server was very nice and checked on me multiple times. She was funny and high spirited, which really boosted my experience here. I had the Veggie Burger with Fries and it was great. The mimosa was huge. Great value for the money. They have plenty of seating but it's not a fancy joint. It has more of a "diner" vibe. But the food, service, and value for money definitely make it worth it.
Be the first to ReplyThey make a good breakfast for the price.
Service was great and the food came out quick. While it may not be the fanciest place, it's great if you're looking for a diner style breakfast.

So so cute!! Wait staff were very attentive and our party of 10 all enjoyed their meal so much!! I can especially recommend the sausage and gravy biscuits!!

$15.95 bottomless mimosas, all day every day!! Need I say more?! Costa's specializes in breakfast food and our unusually generous portions of Swedish pancakes, eggs, bacon and salmon benedict were solidly good. Service was attentive and laid back and our table was next to one of the huge plants that gave this casual place personality. This is not the most high quality or fanciest food you'll ever eat, but it sure is satisfying and their huge menu has something for everyone. Come here if you're craving a hearty, inexpensive meal on the Ave.
Be the first to ReplyI've been coming here since I was a student at UW.
Nice place. Close to campus. They serve great breakfasts and pasta dishes, and a variety of sandwiches, salads, etc.

Rude no matter how nice I am about them messing up my order, no matter how much I tip (great!), and no matter how many times I come and there soda taste horrible. I will never come here again. The only nice person who works here is Reese. Everyone else is so rude and has no customer service. The food is so expensive also, and isn't close to worth the service you get.

Never again, they stacked the food all wrong and the potatoes were disgusting. Don't bother ordering to go.

I don't think this place deserves the current low rating! Crab Benedict on croissant instead of English muffin was quite delicious! My main issue is that the poached eggs were overcooked and totally solid (although at least a little jammy still rather than being FULLY chalky yolks.) But yeah, they were not runny as expected. Flavor was great, though, and the croissant made it extra special. I got this via delivery, too, which might have contributed. Also got baklava, which was tasty but a bit tough. But you get a good sized piece for the price, and it the top part was still flakey and light as expected! Lastly, I ordered a side of bacon. I prefer mine crispy, which this wasn't, but but it was nice thick bacon at least and tasted good (and I know not everyone prefers crispy bacon) l. In general, I was quite happy with my food and would order again! They were also really nice on the phone when answering my questions. I have ordered from here once or twice in the past and don't recall any bad experiences then, either, so I don't quite understand why there are so many poor reviews. Maybe they've upped their game recently.
Be the first to ReplyVery good breakfast spot.
I had the BOB and it was very good. Gravy was top notch and the biscuits were fluffy. Service was very friendly. If I lived near the area I would come here often but was just over here to drop off my car for service at Audi

Pretty good brunch place in U District! I went here with some friends who were visiting from outside of Seattle and we had a hearty breakfast! There was a little bit of a line for those waiting to be seated when we arrived but it took like 10 minutes for us to be seated. I ended up getting the garden skillet and it was a pretty good portion. I forgot what my friends got but those were also pretty big. I would say Costas is a pretty average breakfast place so if you're looking for some place simple and quick, you should go here!

I wanted to give this place a try despite the negative reviews and am I glad I did. Came here with 2 other friends and it was all of ours' first time. The bottomless mimosas for $15.99 sold me on coming here in the first place. I had no issue finding street parking (paid). Ambience is super casual and pretty busy but no wait time coming in on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. Waitress provided great customer service and was always on top of refilling mimosas ( I think I had 4??? Can't remember...lol) I had the chicken sandwich served with fries and maaaaan, their fries are goooood! Hot and crisp on the outside. The chicken burger was huuuuge! All of their portions are actually quite generous so you get bang for your bucks. I would definitely return to try other items on the menu.

So I come here semi-regularly with my friend and we always enjoy our server on the weekday mornings. She knows our general orders and is always pleasant with us. The food is mostly good. A few hits a few misses. But overall, we've enjoyed our dishes most of the time. French toast is alright by my friend. I definitely dig the biscuits!! Ambiance is hole in the wall on the Ave. but it's cozy and charming in its own way. Have never been in on a busy brunch or weekend when there may be a very different vibe. Usually it's quiet and slow when we go.

I always love Costa's! The service is good and the menu is large, I go all the time and you can't really run out of things to try. It's not fancy but its good and I enjoy being in the space, the huge plants add something special. Definitely would recommend their breakfast menu but the Greek specialties and pasta are also delicious. The hours online aren't current though, be aware that they're not open for dinner right now but hopefully that changes soon :)

Our hot chocolates were watered down and the crab Benedict had a fishy odor. The only redeeming quality of this place is the friendly service. Please consider spending your hard earned money elsewhere.

Enjoyed spanikopita last time I was there, but walked in on a Saturday to be told they were closed at 4. Their web sites and yelp hours need to be updated. I paid money to get there, and considering most places are at least open for early dinner customers....i may change review later but supremely irritated that everything online was so out of date.

Came here on a Sunday for brunch in a group of 6 at 11am and was seated immediately! The place has a comfy cozy diner atmosphere, and our waitress was super funny and attentive. I got the Classic Eggs Benedict and loved it- also tried my friend's strawberry crรชpes and veggie dolmas, which were also tasty. Definitely would come here again for a nice lowkey brunch spot.

Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience here and had high hopes as I have heard good things. This was by far the worst brunch meal I have ever had in my life - I ordered the crepes and country fried steak with eggs. The eggs were raw/undercooked and the crepes were more like super thick pancakes that were rolled up. Everything down to the sourdough bread and whipped cream was extremely unappetizing. I deeply regret ordering from here and would not recommend if you want an enjoyable meal.

I see the bad reviews and I raise you this: Upon entering the restaurant we were cheerily greeted by the staff. The restaurant was pretty empty so she advised us to seat ourselves, so we chose a spot by the window. She came over promptly and made a pot of decaf for me even thought I told her I'd only have one cup. We got the biscuits and gravy and the steak & eggs. All was delicious. The side of fruit was perfectly ripe. Coffee was good, and overall really fantastic service. The ONLY thing I didn't like was the biscuit was a little dry, but other than that it was all delicious!

All-day breakfast & bottomless mimosas? I'm in! Costa's has a very extensive menu with multiple pages of breakfast items. The food comes out quickly, the staff is very attentive, and the portions are HUGE. Our bottomless mimosas were refilled multiple times and topped off without us having to ask. I absolutely loved the Greek vegetarian scramble - loaded with veggies and olives!! I could only finish half at the restaurant but ate the rest as soon as I got home. I have also gone for lunch and the veggie burger & lentil soup were also tasty. Overall, a cute little restaurant with good food. Will be back again for more bottomless mimosas

Costa's was amazing and we would definitely return! The food was great, the service was fast and fun, and we did not feel rushed at all. It really felt like a hidden gem.

Waiting for almost 1 hour for this take out order! When we were waiting outside and try to pick up our order, the service person just IGNORE US and let us waiting for another 10 mins to notice us and gave us the take out order, which is RIDICULOUS. ย The French Toast was so soggy when we got it. The entire experience was terrible, don't go this place. SUCKS THE WORST RESTAURANT AND SERVICE EVER.

I got a vegetarian pita of some sort and the whole plate smelled like literal feces. I was doing everything I could not to throw up on their table don't ever eat here trust me it's not worth it
Be the first to ReplyI've always walked past Costa's and brushed it off because
I've always walked past Costa's and brushed it off because the exterior is underwhelming, but once I entered I was pretty shocked at the interior being spacious, plant-filled, and cozy. Really great spot to catch up with friends. Needless to say, I was very impressed with Costa's and sad I hadn't discovered this spot earlier in my college experience. Portions are large, costs are fairly low for the sizes, and food is tasty. For starters, I was overwhelmed by the menu. I wanted breakfast (country fried steak) yet Italian is always amazing. Then there were burgers and sandwiches which also sounded solid for the day. I ended up opting to try a Quesadilla and the Chicken Pesto while my friend got the Souvlaki. Quesadilla - as an appetizer, I did not expect much but was then surprised with 8 slices of a chicken quesadilla. This alone would've been a great meal for one. The edges weren't filled the best, but the rest of the quesadilla was packed with chicken, cheese, and assorted vegetables. The emptier edges were fantastic with pasta sauce though.Chicken Pesto - I'm not sure what this was called exactly on the menu, but I suppose it's fairly new as I couldn't find it on past pictures. I believe it was simply Chicken Pesto though. All the pasta dishes come with two pieces of garlic bread that are best used to soak up the sauce. Pesto and garlic bread was a really fantastic combination. Not to mention the fettucine being so creamy with tender chicken pieces. I absolutely loved this.Souvlaki - now this is a healthier choice very well rounded with a Greek salad, rice, pita bread, and meat. Would have loved some more saucy contents for the pita bread, it paired decently with the Greek salad. Then the skewer had tender meat that paired well with the rice. Overall, this entree is very filling.
