We ordered a bunch of things.
Pork belly-lechon, pancit, short ribs, rice and we also got dessert. It was ok. I think I had my hopes to have the best but it was ok. Would come back.
Be the first to ReplyKuya lord is truly fantastic.
I think elevating cuisines can sometimes lose authenticity in flavors, but that's not the case here. Location and parking are t great, but it's worth circling the block for a parking spot. The best thing I had was the Hiramasa collar. Perfectly prepared, this fish collar was flavorful, flakey and absolutely delicious. The lucenachon is perfect. Crispy, tender and sumptuous. The pancit sotanghon was delicious and full of veggies. I loved the atchara (pickled vegetables) sides with each dish. Filipino food is often seen as fatty and meat centric from people who don't know the cuisine. The Java garlic rice definitely isn't your mom's garlic rice, but it's very delicious. Calamansi pie was delicious and not too sweet. The chef and owner was there and very sweet. Service was fast. You do have to go around the back of the restaurant to use the bathroom which is inconvenient, but that's the only thing I'd bellyache about. Overall fantastic food that needs to be celebrated.
Be the first to ReplyFood was good but not great.
The price is too high for the small quantity of the food. $25 for a rice bowl with fried pork belly is pushing it too far. I was still too hungry after eating the bowl. The kuya tray with your choice of meat was $45. We got half a chicken and came with two scoops of java rice and noodles. The java rice was okay. The noodles were mushy and sweet. Service was also okay. Took very long for the chicken to come but it wasn't fresh or have that 'hot off the grill' taste. It should've been hot and fresh for that long or a wait. The best thing was the kuya tray with slow roasted pork belly. Skin was crispy yet meat was very tender.

4/13/24 This review is based off the food ordered by my friends. If I recall correctly, we had pancit, fried rice, tocino, longanisa grilled chicken & fried milkfish. Everything tasted pretty good. My friends also said they enjoyed the food. There was a dish made with tofu but not sure what it's called-apparently it's what they're known for. We were all excited to try the calamansi pie, it was good but not that spectacular-probably because we all expected it to be really tangy & that it would capture the real taste of calamansi. It was worth the try though. I didn't really play close attention when we were ordering & I don't think I saw the usual staples like tortang talong, bistek or adobo. I'm glad we tried this place out

This was the first time eating Filipino cuisine and long story short, I will be back. I went initially to the sandwich shop next door but ended up getting some pork belly and guava rice while I was waiting. The flavors were unlike anything I have had before and I wondered if the rice and pork were the best bite of food I ever had. The only thing that I could say was that it was a little salty, and is much more enjoyable with a beverage.

Looks like the owner of this place gets really defensive with reviews based on the replies. There's a pattern of bad customer reviews. Bad business and bad food. Totally not recommending this place to anyone. Negative star. Also, your post of accusing me of bashing is a form of harassment. I will be reporting this business as well to better business bureau. I'm shocked that this place has any low reviews, the food was absolutely delicious and so worth the drive out! While it's Filipino cuisine, don't come here expecting traditional dishes. Kuya Lord puts their own spin on things which is different but still feels genuine! The only downside is the lack of space and seating in the restaurant itself, so I would recommend taking the food to go rather than planning to dine in. We ordered the Lucenachon tray which was the perfect amount of food for two people. The meat paired with their homemade vinegar was so good!!

Great food all around - the pork platters to share are wonderful - need to go back for the longaniza!
Be the first to ReplyHeard great things but was very underwhelmed.
Had to wait 40 minutes for our food when others who were in line behind us got their food first. Now onto the food... got the Kuya tray, which had a little bit of everything to try, and the kewali lechon. Also ordered the honey calamansi drink. The meats were extremely salty, although the lechon and sausage had good flavor. Beef was dry. I enjoyed the honey calamansi drink. Restaurant was packed around 5:30 making it difficult to find a seat, but eventually we were able to get a table. Unfortunately the long wait and subpar food on top of that really made Kuya Lord a miss for me.

I'll be honest if "fusion" pinoy food is your thing and you're into experimenting you'll love it all. Me? I'm towards more traditional. I grew up around lots of great home cooked + pinoy restos in cerritos and Carson + grocery markets! so my personal beliefs on dishes are very home style with a semi decent price point. In fact pre depression economy I've always believed pinoy food was something that's prepared and served in the home and you can't make it more fancy than Goldilocks or Gerry's grill/Kusina etc - and even those are reaches lol. Is the food at KL great quality with great quality ingredients? Yeah! But even after the delicious experience you won't find me craving the meats, pancit and Java rice. Still try it as you see most find it also delicious. Kuya Lord is in the same category to me as Ross Pang's Mix Mix /remix - restos that offer something different and bring the pinoy culture to an elevated level. I'll give them that, but like I said already my palette is conditioned to the cooking in the burbs. I already know where to go to when my family wants pata, lechon, pancit, bbq etc. Consider your experience a treat when you're near Hollywood tho, esp if you wanna try everything here. A solid 3.5 stars in my book. lol

We came here on a Sunday w/ another family and really enjoyed it. This review may not be helpful since my wife who's Filipino ordered so I can't remember the names of everything we had. However, EVERYTHING was really good. We ordered quite a bit and possibly almost everything on the menu. Well that's what it seemed like. I do remember the rotisserie chicken being my favorite dish along w/ the fried rice. I haven't had chicken that good in a long time. Parking on the street but it's LA so you deal with it. The owner was even nice enough to take a group picture with all of us so my girls could post it. I thought that was very nice of him. We highly recommend this place and it is definitely worth going back!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is SO good.
I'm so lazy about writing Yelp reviews but it was so good I had to come and write a review. We arrived at 5pm Sunday and there were 3 other parties but we all found a place to sit with no issue. Around 6:30pm everyone who arrived at 5pm had cleared out so maybe 6:30 pm is another good time to go if you don't want to go at 5pm.For 4 people, we ordered kuya tray with long tap-silog plus an extra rice, lucenachon, lechon kawali, and a calamari from the current specials. It was exactly enough food and everything was so good I'm not sure what to recommend. Nothing was not amazing. I'm surprised this place isn't 5 stars, probably because of parking and seating lol. All of our food came out at the same time, but they cook it fresh so there was a little wait before we got the food. Will be back to try the rest of the stuff soon.

If you love Lechon Kawali (and who doesn't), then you have to try Kuya Lord. The twice-cooked Lechon Kawali was nice and crispy on the outside, but still really tender and juicy on the inside. This was our favorite dish we tried that day. I couldn't get enough. We also had the slow-cooked pork belly. This was a close second for us. It's just unbelievable how tender the pork was. We also had the Laing, which my wife said was the best she's ever had. I don't usually eat Laing, but Kuya Lord's Laing was really good. The parking is tough, it's just a really busy intersection. There aren't a lot of table either. On the day we went, it was really packed. However it was totally worth the wait.
Be the first to ReplyFoods good but the place does not have the capacity to seat
Foods good but the place does not have the capacity to seat more than 15 to 20 people at a time. There is hardly any parking in the area. We waited more than 45 mins for the pork belly and 25 mins for the noodles. It appears that they dont have the ability to serve their orders complete. Things are dished out in piecemeal when they only have a few things on the menu. A big part of a successful eatery is to serve and turnover customers, it looks like they are pretty chaotic on that front. They simply can not handle the capacity they are facing. I think they are better off running out of a food truck than having a small unconvenient physical locale like this current location.

The noodles took 25 minutes while the meat (pork belly and doube cooked pork belly) took even longer. I know they were busy with some catering orders or possibly giving food to Social Media Influencers (as too many people filmed themselves picking up).The concept seems confused. If this is fast casual, then maybe spend less time on plating. If it's about the food and the presentation, then maybe offer more seating.Parking can be difficult. Seating is very difficult. The noodles were good. The twice cooked pork belly is better than the regular pork belly just for the crispy texture.I really am glad to see LM operate his own restaurant. And he is involved in much of it. Not being negative but wanting share two diners experiences.

We ordered Lechon kawali and inihaw squid. Wow, they were incredibly delicious, cooked to perfection. Really enjoyed every bite. We'll definitely go back and try the lucenachon and other dishes.

Kuya Lord's is a hidden gem of a Filipino restaurant in Los Angeles, and it's safe to say that it's the best Filipino food I have ever had. When I walked in, the workers greeted me with friendly and welcoming staff who made me feel right at home. The menu at Kuya Lord's is extensive, offering a wide range of traditional Filipino dishes bursting with flavor. I ordered the tocino bowl which was cooked to perfection. The tocino was tender and succulent, and the sauce was rich and flavorful. The calamansi juice had just the right amount of sweetness, and the calamansi pie was deliciously perfect. One of the standout features of Kuya Lord's is the quality of the ingredients. Everything is fresh and cooked to order, and you can really taste the difference compared to other Filipino restaurants. The presentation of the dishes was also impressive, with each dish beautifully arranged on the plate. The restaurant's ambiance is cozy and inviting, with a modern yet rustic feel. It's clear that Kuyalord's put a lot of care and attention into the design of the space, and it makes for a lovely dining experience. Overall, I highly recommend Kuya Lord's to anyone looking for exceptional Filipino food in LA. The flavors are bold and authentic, the ingredients are fresh, and the staff is welcoming and friendly. I am already planning my next trip out here and cannot wait to try more of their delicious menu!
Be the first to ReplyVERY iconic.
The vibe is casual with a nod to Filipino culture but also giving you midcentury modern/industrial kinda. Mega chic. It's one of those places you go with a friend, grab a bite and do a little chisme but the food is outrageously good. Traditional Filipino food but amplified. All due respect to my mom but she could never--and I'm of firm belief that my mom's cooking is objectively better than most. I should take her here. She'd flip out. 10/10.
