La Coupole Paris Reviews from The Last Year
Every time in Paris!
Every time in Paris it's a fixed stop, it never disappoints! Raw food is a guarantee and the Royal plateau is a joy for the palate and the sight. But meat dishes also have their reasons. The eco room and the atmosphere you breathe are characteristic. Everyone is super nice and professional.
Not good....
I've been coming here again for 2 years now, last time it was a bad experience with unprofessional staff and tasteless, fadent dishes, no professionalism at all. La Coupole is completely abandoned. I am really disgusted this time again thread of hair and pieces of glass in our dishes.
Beautiful decor but...
Magnificent decor; incessant and amusing ballet of the waiters, but what a disappointment on the plate! A small portion of tartare (I have the same ones for €4.70 for both in my supermarket!) with two small jars of closed sauce (so not homemade)! Fish & chips like you should have at McDonald's! Accompanied by warm fries... For dessert, if the chocolate mousse was delicious, a gourmet coffee with three tiny ramekins with tasteless contents! The reunion of Parisian friends was precious and almost made us forget... this culinary disaster!
Classicism and tradition in modern times
A classic in Paris: a brasserie with tradition, just as it should be. Classic dishes, very good, fast and friendly service, good taste, France as you want it. Pleasant Art Deco atmosphere, beautiful light, lively surroundings, you leave satisfied.
To be recommended to families
Fantastic Sea food platters! Super friendly and fast service. Great for the entire family to enjoy! To be recommended!
To do for decoration
Sublime decoration in art deco style, welcome and very good service. We tested the lamb curry product and we confirm that it is a good place to do for the mythical side and the service is also very fast, perhaps even too fast.
Super fun restaurant with fabulous menu & service
Large, bustling, almost 100 year old, art deco bistro with plenty of history. While La Coupole is quite a large restaurant, don’t let the size dissuade you from going. It’s a super fun place with fabulous service. Linda had a fabulous Nicoise Tuna Tartare. I had a very tasty Indian Curry Lamb Stew. We loved our experience there.
À great experience
We booked a table for lunch on the 3rd May to celebrate my wife’s 80th birthday. We received a warm welcome and truly excellent table service from our waiter, Eric. The meal itself was very good indeed. We were joined by one of our sons. The total cost was 170€, including two glasses of Champagne. Thoroughly recommended.
Horrible service....
We came as a couple to La Coupole on the evening of 03/05 without reservation, because the place is famous for the 40s and 50s and very well known in Paris. Horrible welcome, catastrophic service, waiter not at all pleasant... The food was bland. I ordered the stuffed cabbage, of course frozen, no taste, and my girlfriend ordered the pork belly... both dishes arrived cold. We called the server several times and never looked at it. So I went to see the manager and I explained the situation, even the manager is crazy and rude. The manager's little joke "you don't eat too quickly"
Quality food, great service and value - totally justifies recommendation in a certain well known 2 letter guidebook
White tableclothes and smart staff - don't be fooled in false sense of "not for us" in this historic place. Easy to walk in and get a table; polite and chatty staff and a waiter who was very pleasant, chatty and polite without being intrusive. 10/10 there. Food was outstanding as well; and having ordered crepes for desert, the waiter showed me how to heat and flame the brandy over the crepes :-). Not to be tried at home with too much brandy; flames can reach high!! Can't recommend this place enough; two mains (Mussels and a salmon steak), one dessert (but 2 spoons!), bottle of wine, one coffee and a tip - still not three figures in sterling. If you're going to eat well one night, do it here. Nothing to complain or be grumpy about here; even just have a drink at the American cocktail bar. Will definately go back despite all the choices for eating there are in Paris; this one's a standout value for money. Unfotunately no food photos; only one's of us about to eat taken by the waiter; you don't to see us as well!!
Good breakfast, good price
This is close to our hotel, so we wandered in for breakfast. I had scrambled eggs with (VERY thick sliced) bacon and a baguette. My husband had a croissant and soft-boiled eggs, which are served with strips of baguette to dip. They offer some very good tea. My husband had chocolate chaud. The bill came to only 26 euro! Cheapest meal we've had in Paris.
A wonderful place for my 40th birthday lunch
Went here for 40th birthday for my day trip Paris. The food was beautiful, service fabulous and had the best steak tartare I’ve ever had. Loved the ambiance and decor was stunning.
Eric and Jean Claude
The restaurant is beautiful, the food is of extreme quality, everything was delicious! They made the crepe live for us which improved the Parisien experience. The employees are charming, very friendly and always with a smile, especially Eric and Jean Claude. It is my favorite place in Paris, we will return!!
What a desappointment !!
What a desappointment ! We do not understand the success of this institution with its historic decor. As for us, we will not return there again: banal and lackluster shellfish dish. Fish and chips at ....(let's remain courteous). For dessert, crepes suzette flambés: we were not treated to the long-awaited fireworks, but to a small, puny and sickly flame. The dinner was punctuated by four successive birthdays celebrated loudly by the team of waiters. Atmosphere, no, tIntamarre yes.
Extraordinary !
A childhood dream of coming one day to eat in the restaurant of “La boum” And I don't regret it! The setting is fabulous, the staff particularly pleasant and the food delicious!!! The floating island was a feast for both the eyes and the palate! I will definitely come back!
Alright
Beautiful place and very good food. We liked the very Art Deco decoration We recommend this place Noreddine's service was very friendly
My best Parisian dinner
Looking for a place to have dinner near my hotel, I remembered its past history and the good reviews I had read and went in. I hadn't booked and the restaurant was full but I decided to wait and after about an hour we found a table in the beautiful room. It was a great experience, the best dinner of my week in Paris! Vast environment in Art Deco style, warm and friendly atmosphere, also thanks to an efficient staff, despite some small slowdowns perhaps due to the sold-out evening. Really excellent food and prices appropriate to the quality. Definitely worth trying.
Still just as good without Chagall's ceiling!
What a pity ! The Chagall painting on the ceiling has disappeared. I wanted to show it to my guests. The food is still good but I would like to tell everyone that it is first and foremost a seafood and fish restaurant. The restaurant is still just as noisy, nothing has changed in that regard
The taste of don't come back
Of course we appreciate the old-fashioned charm of the room...but that's all. A very disappointing dinner and therefore necessarily too expensive €92 (2 starters, 2 main courses, 2 beers). Strange mimosa leeks, poorly cooked calf's liver, ordinary, if not mediocre, curry, thrown on the table by a mock maharajah out of nowhere, who seemed to be reciting to us the history of this emblematic dish. But we didn't understand what was being muttered to us.... In the end, it was an outdated and ridiculous production. Polite service but does the minimum. Disappointment all round.
Wonderful evening
The restaurant remains as good and talented as ever. Its immutable decor remains in legend. And we were extremely well served by Nourredine who gave us a nice surprise for my husband's birthday. thanks to him
Service was a bit slow despite it not being too busy.
The food was good nothing to go crazy about EXCEPT the crème burlee was absolutely amazing. The best crème burlee I've had in my life. Ambience was great, you can tell it's a common place where people go to celebrate a special day.
special place with special food.
great service, bright ambience, family friendly. will always come back when we're in town.
Historic Montparnasse brasserie - Hemingway used to hit up
Historic Montparnasse brasserie - Hemingway used to hit up friends for drinks here in the 1920's - and still an elegant restaurant in the 2020's. La Coupole is a large brasserie with a beautiful art deco interior. Ideally you should start with an aperitif at the bar before transferring to a table for dinner. Very relaxing (and very French) approach to dining out. If you order oysters as the appetizer be sure to ask your waiter for suggestions. We had three varieties and agreed that these were the most delicious oysters we've ever had. We stayed with seafood for the main. The coquilles st. jacques dish - brilliant. The scallops were tender, the sauce was something out of Escoffier, the presentation beautiful. I had the lobster ravioli but give this one a pass. You want unctuous at La Coupole and the scallop dish provides this. We also had dessert, ile flottante and profiteroles. It was more dessert than we normally eat but "somehow" we managed to polish off both. One important point: Make a reservation on-line. This is a wildly popular restaurant for Parisians (not Tick-Tockers) so a reservation is essential.
Old-school.
Honestly, except for the onion soup (which was exceptional), everything was good, not great; but the experience, the ambiance, in a great space, was a joy. As to the food, we had the following: chilled shrimp (good), escargot (not enough garlic-butter), onion soup (excellent), fries (good), filet mignon (fine), steak tartare (too much sweet relish), lobster ravioli (not stuffed ravioli but slicks of pasta with lobster on top), sole meunière (fine), profiteroles (good), and crème brûlée (good). I wish I tried the curry. 3.5 rounded up.
Having had a great experience a few weeks prior, I decided
Having had a great experience a few weeks prior, I decided to take my fiancé for a wonderful dinner. We had an experience almost the opposite of what I experienced on my first visit. The waiter seemed bothered every time we asked for something that should have been simple. We had to ask for bread, then we had to ask for butter. He brought no plates for the bread and had to ask and we were missing a fork on the table which I borrowed from another table so as not to bother the server yet again. Each time the waiter would be in the area but not even look up at us. We ordered our meal, which took a very long time to receive. Upon arriving, it was not at all what we ordered. Rather than waiting another 30-40 minutes to cook our actual meal, we ate what was served. It was good, but not what we ordered. The bill arrived and no offer to compensate the disaster of the night. I had to call the maiître d' over. He only offered comping the appetizer, while nice, I don't think was enough. While the food is good, the service leaves something to be desired and for such a restaurant, they need to spend a little more time training some of their wait staff.
We had dinner at the restaurant.
The food was ok, wasn't spectacular or anything like that, which was disappointing, I expected more. The service, it's a different thing. The hostesses was rude and dismissive, not properly or professionally dressed. The waiter was very unpleasant, took a while to place an order, then had to wait and wait.... we were not rushing, but it was noticeable. He would always forget what we asked for and walking around with his hands behind his back, it was a bit unusual. My husband ordered Lamb curry, he did like and the waiter at that department was very pleasant. After all, I don't think we are going to be back. There are so many great places to explore, and that is not our favorite.
Dinner at the famous La Coupole! La Coupole, founded in
Dinner at the famous La Coupole! La Coupole, founded in 1927, is one of Paris' most famous brasseries known for its artistic history A scene from Emily in Paris was also shot here! I absolutely loved the French onion soup here - probably the best I've ever had! For mains, although they have many meat options, their seafood options are the way to go. The sole fish was sooo smooth and fresh, a must try. The seafood sauerkraut was good as well, I like how they give you a bit of everything and an entire mountain of sauerkraut French Onion Soup (9€) Bone Marrow (13.5€) Escargots (19€) Sole a la Plancha (46€) Seafood Sauerkraut (27.5€) Irish Cut Beef Steak (33€) La Coupole's Sauerkraut (27.5€)

We spent out last night in Paris at this lovely ,large, French restaurant. We arrived around 10pm without a reservation and we were seated within 20 minutes, outside ( which we requested). They seem to be known for their raw bar- but we had the peppercorn tenderloin with fries and it was delicious! We started with the burrata salad, and it was fine, not great ,but perfectly fine. The service was outstanding! The best we had in all of Paris. Friendly, professional and efficient! The crepe for dessert is a must!! Enjoy!
Maybe you're a jaded New Yorker who's spent more time than
Maybe you're a jaded New Yorker who's spent more time than you'd care to admit in Balthazar, Odeon, Pastis, Orsay, and even good old Artisanal. Yeah, you can recite the standard brasserie menu in English or French, and you know your Art Nouveau from your Art Deco. Well forget all of that. It's still better in France. And La Coupole is exhibit A. When you see the room, you'll realize just how pale those Stateside imitations truly are. And then you only have to let the professionals do their jobs. Almost everything was exceptional, which is not to say at a three-star Michelin level, but rather exactly comme il faut for a buzzing brasserie. Bread, olives, eggs mayonnaise, oysters, caesar salad, veal confit, fries, choucroute garnie, then apple crumble to finish... I'll be popping those little juniper berries from the classic choucroute between my molars in my sleep. Our only quibble was that the sauce for the veal was a little salty. Everything else was a bullseye. Make a reservation - really, it will help - and away you go. The service was warm and virtually telepathic from the beginning, with our waiter anticipating all our requirements while cracking jokes that even the kids could understand. He gave us a couple of the day's menus to take home - illustrated and signed! - but we would have remembered this fabulous meal just fine without them.

Hi, I have a reservation to Nobu Malibu, but since they don't do text or e-mail confirmations I haven't been able to get my reservation posted. I have posted a screen shot of the phone conversation on the listing, but it keeps getting rejected. If anyone has an idea how I can get it approved that would be much appreciated, thanks!
