Today was my first time trying out La Josie, and it did not disappoint! Went to brunch and tried the Paloma to drink & started with chips with salsa/single order of guac. Everything super fresh and tasty, the chips were so good too! Claudia our server was really attentive and gave us great service. I tried the Los Benedict with carnitas, the corn bread cake was a nice change from traditional English muffins. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection and not over cooked at all, I hate when they're over cooked for eggs Benedict. The carnitas was put on the side, which i actually appreciate so that you can make your own perfect bite. Can't wait to go back and try more things!
Be the first to ReplyI love La Josie for its food, drinks and ambiance.
We walked in on a Sunday evening to try out a couple of Mezcal based drinks and we all loved the experience! We tried Stolen Vocho, Oaxacon Old Fashioned, El Jardin in the first round. I personally loved Stolen Vocho, the rosemary and cardamon blended so well with Mezcal. I like the spicy aftertaste of Mezcal which was subdued with cardamon and rosemary but I did not mind that. We also liked Oaxacon Old Fashioned considering it was so smooth! For next round of drinks, we decided to go for Mezcal shots (on a Sunday evening, i know it's wild!?) Our server recommended a drink from his hometown and we all absolutely loved it! So smooth and definitely worth trying even for folks who don't like Mezcal as much! I've been to La Josie in the past for some good authentic Mexican food as well and liked everything I had tried (they have a lot of Vegan alternatives)

Restaurant Week Brunch! Yay! We had a larger group and were sat at a nice table in the way back with candles and everything! The Colorados Tamales were a tiny bit spicy, but really really good. I was glad that it wasn't fully wrapped in husk; it was just on the bottom which made it easier to eat. The Quesabirrias were really good, too! The dessert we got was different from the menu, I think he said it was tres leches, and it was soooooooo good!
Be the first to ReplyLove La Josie! Was only right to have it while in Chicago.
The ambiance is always a vibe. Sexy, cool, smooth. Music isn't ever too loud, can talk to one another. Food & drinks are so flavorful! Didn't catch a pic but the ceviche is also my ish- I don't even order ceviche anywhere! I'm also not a huge mole fan but there's is super tasty. Flavor Never disappoints.

Our server, Giovanna, was great and the restaurant had a cool atmosphere! The elote lacked flavor and I felt that the dishes were slightly salty and think a citrus element would have been a nice addition. The steak tacos were flavorful, tender, and my personal favorite dish of the night & the cocktails were good!
Be the first to ReplyCame here for brunch and was impressed.
West loop locations can be a hit or miss, and the misses result you paying a lot of money for a not so great experience. We sat on the patio and although it started to drizzle the waiters got the umbrellas out and we got back to our meal. The torta ahogada was delicious and honestly reasonably priced along with the bottomless deal. I haven't been for dinner but have heard great things and definitely inclined to check it out soon.

Guac- amazing Trio salsa-delicious Lobster Tacos- magnificent Chicken tacos without the corn- heavenly Tequila gimlets- X marks the spot!!!! Love it! Service- always nice Vibe- I sometimes don't want to leave. Music is perfect
Be the first to ReplyFood was great.
I had barbacoa, rib eye and regular asada steak tacos and thought they were all excellent. My friend had the ribeye, asada and lobster tacos and tho they were good as well. He also had street corn which I didn't get a picture of and enjoyed it. The food not only was good but came out super fast and the waiter was also very friendly and attentive. The restaurant seemed very hip and modern. Definitely come back again to try other tacos.
Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant has a few different sections to it.
It looked like there was a downstairs, and we sat on the first floor across from the kitchen at high top tables. As with anywhere in the west loop you should expect to need a reservation on the weekends. We went on a Friday night with 5 people, made the reservation a few days in advance on resy (note they charge if you cancel within a certain timeframe). The restaurant itself is dimly lit for a cozy but lovely atmosphere. I was seated close to my own party and the people next to us. The volume in the restaurant was loud but not enough that you can't carry on a conversation. Our server was very nice. Now the main attraction was the food. Everyone the table agreed it was all fresh and amazing. Personally I ordered the Baja tacos (comes with three) and it was so fresh and tasty. We also got a dessert to share and the gelato was honestly heaven. I'd return just for a spoonful of their cinnamon dolce gelato. No pictures since it was dimly lit and I was vibing with friends!

Everything was fresh, seasoned well and had large portions! Expensive as **** but worth it for a night out.
Be the first to ReplyMy wife and I stopped in for lunch.
The vibe is relaxed but still modern and nice. I ordered the Asada Torta, and it was incredibly delicious. The skirt steak was tender and juicy.
Be the first to ReplyGreat ambiance and flavorful tacos.
Drinks are amazing. Rooftop is nice and intimate--when you can get up there. Only complaints are that it's a bit pricey and they don't take reservations for small parties.
Be the first to ReplyFood is good but the portions are sooooo bad.
It should not cost $25+ for the portion they serve. It's literally an appetizer for every "entree" they have. Service was 9/10, I recommend the drinks. Especially the bottomless mimosas. The atmosphere was nice too.

La Josie is a fantastic place for fresh, delicious food and excellent margaritas. A few friends and I visited after work and were so pleased with our experience. The ambience is great - a little dark and moody, but not so much that you can't see or hear your table mates. The bathrooms are super clean and well stocked. Service is also wonderful. Our server was happy to give recommendations and was attentive without being overbearing. Prices are high, but on par with similar restaurants in the area. The food is worth the price tag in my opinion. Everything was so good, freshly prepared, and unique to La Josie.

Food was delicious and server was attentive but it was hard to get past the rude staff at the host desk. We arrived on time for a reservation and they seemed irritated we were there and let us know our table wasn't ready. Then once seated were immediately let know we only had the table for 90 minutes. We had a good time but not sure we will be back.
Be the first to ReplyNot very busy on a Sunday night.
Had a reservation and they had to clean the table although there was over 7 other tables available. Sat us right by the entrence which was a bit cold, but we should have said something. Small drinks but strong. Tacos and meals overall very small. This is more of a sip and drink place than getting an actual wholesome meal. Overpriced. Good to go just one time to say you went. Service was a bit slow, and we had to gesture out waiter to come multiple times. It was not bad - just OK.

I had a friend visiting so we booked a Friday dinner at La Josie. The restaurant had the windows open to the outside given it was summer but they really needed to keep them closed and have the AC on because it was so hot out that day. Our server was quick with drinks and helped describe a few of the dishes. I ordered the Chapuzón and it was incredible. I've never had a dish like this before and was very impressed. It was flavorful and no part of it overpowered the others. This is one of my favorite dishes that I've had in Chicago. Overall La Josie was a great experience. It's pricey for sure and they hopefully are not keeping the windows open on scorching hot days, but I would definitely come back.

Great Mexican food!!! This is a great place if you are gluten free/celiac because they have gluten free chips and mark what's gluten free on the menu! They have amazing drinks and the shrimp tacos are so good!! Would also recommend the queso fundido! There was so much more I wanted to try on the menu so will need to come back.
Be the first to ReplyI really liked La Josie.
West Loop restaurants are notorious for being fully booked, so it was a pleasant surprise to find that this spot had seating. I tried the pineapple guacamole and it was fantastic. Honestly, this might've been the best guac I've had ever. I got the ceviche trio as my entrée. The ceviche was good, but not the best. I remember one of the ceviches tasted very salty. I tried some of my friend's elote and that was pretty good but nothing special. The service was fine, and the ambiance was fine as well. Overall, this place was good but I don't know if I'd return. I believe there are tons of Mexican spots in the city that do just as good of a job if not better at a more affordable price point.

Run, don't walk to La Josie! Latinx-owned and great reviews got me in the door but the flavorful food is what will bring me back. As a lover of Mexican food, there are no shortage of restaurants to choose from but La Josie stands out from the rest. Located in chic West Loop, La Josie has a contemporary feel with wooden high-tops and Mexican-inspired plate ware. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful when sharing more about the restaurant. A friend and I chose to visit for lunch and ordered their tortas and elote. I ordered the asada torta and each bite was perfect. The steak was tender and bursting with flavor. The telera roll held up but didn't create crumbs - a sign of incredible quality and technique-- and complimented the steak, avocado spread, beans and Oaxaca so well. Im still thinking about this sandwich. Long story short, I'll be back and HIGHLY recommend your next lunch or dinner be here!
Be the first to ReplyIf you had to choose which tamales to get, get all of them.
Make sure to pair with chilaquiles with an egg.
Be the first to ReplyCame to the Josie for restaurant week and had a nice time.
Food was good but the portion size a little small to me. Should be bigger portions especially for the money you pay for it. The drinks wore ok could of been stronger. The place looks very nice and modern but a little cramped up.
Be the first to ReplyI went to La Josie for lunch.
The food/drinks and service were fantastic. The guac was above my expectation in serving size which seems to not be the norm at most restaurants. They were highly accommodating in asking about allergies and ensuring all expectations were met. I will definitely go back!

Family trip to La Josie, so good! Had the ceviche trio, asada tacos, shrimp tacos, churros and margarita mezcal. My mom & sister had a pina colada, that was pretty nice too. Joined the wait list on Resy, got right in on a Saturday! Probably thanks to the rain. This is one of the better taco spots in Chicago. My nephew smashed 3 steak tacos! Good drinks, great staff, definitely going back! Thank you
