La Lanterna di Vittorio New York Reviews from The Last Year

Everything we had was amazing ! From the drinks to the desserts Definitely added to the favorites . The food was tasty, fresh and authentic. The Lasagna flight was the best decision as the menu has lots to pick from. Not to mention our waiter made sure we were taken care off and enjoying ourselves . His recommendations were great ! We sat at the lower level for a more intimate dinner space .
I absolutely loved my first time back here in a while.
I used to frequent La Lanterna in my younger years. Loved that the cozy front area is still as I remembered it pre-2000. That's where I used to sit and I felt almost transported back to my younger years. My friend and I shared the Lasagna Ortolana, Pomodoro e Basilico, mesclun salad and Caramel Custard with dulce de leche gelato, and I had a glass of the Matua sauvignon blanc (happens to be my favorite). The combination made for a perfect dinner. To top it all, Omar was a wonderful waiter and Vittorio was always coming by filling our water and I had a brief conversation with him about how I loved this place and so glad to return after so many years. His greeting guests outside and his friendliness not only made me feel at home but flashed me back to my trip to Italy last year. I will always remember this dinner, and can't wait to return again soon.

Service: kind staff, very accommodating to our request to sit in the back covered patio area! 7/10 Food: delicious!! Lasagna was super creamy, veggies in it were well made, and the wine was so great 8/10 Ambiance: great vibes, the decor is beautiful, back patio is well done. The lighting is low which is a vibe but does make it hard to read the menu 9/10 Overall: 8/10

Some of their lasagnas were definitely good - surprisingly I really enjoy the salmon one and the veggie one that had zucchini. I shared the sampler (good for 2-4 people to try and see which one to order). Recommend getting the Mare e Monti Lasagna Flight (my friends didn't enjoy the Carne one that much, and the all veggie one was alright but the pesto was good). Cacio peppe and Arribiata lasagna was just soso, same with the pizza. Don't expect a proper espresso martini or drinks here in general, pretty watery. Would stick to wine. Overall this is a cute cozy spot to try some different lasagna flavors, I'd give it a try. Service was fast and good, make a reservation to avoid waiting too long for a table as it does get packed.

Come for the space, there's a lovely enclosed patio in the back! Stay for the pizza and the drinks, both of which were surprisingly good. Be warned, however, that the menu is a novella. So many options, it's approaching overwhelming. If you like Neapolitan-style pizza, you'll definitely enjoy La Lanterna's. It was the right chewiness, and the toppings and sauce were tasty. I also had one of the many available adult beverages, opting for a hard coffee. It was excellent. The cheese and pate plate was good -- the bread it came with was well seasoned and had a nice crisp. But the presentation definitely leaves something to be desired, it definitely looked like an elementary school science fair project on the plate. Overall, good food, not too pricey, and a nice patio. Solid option!

After the Jazz Brasil performance around the corner at Zinc, we all ventured out in the pouring rain for a bite to eat at La Lanterna di Vittorio on the famous MacDougal Street, West Village. The Lasagnes and Pizzas are the stars on the Menu here. Yes, it's very dark, it's noisy, it brought back memories of our good old college days lingering over conversations in tight spaces . We couldn't really talk but we were nourished for the return home. Still pouring rain outside. It was the company that mattered. Four stars this time. Thank you for reading.

Came here for a birthday dinner and had a rather disappointing service. We booked this restaurant for its romantic ambiance and authentic Italian food. Since we wanted our own space, we booked an outdoor/patio seating. The menu was overwhelming as they have an extensive drink/food items. We ended up ordering the Pizza con Prosciutto Arrostito, Meat Lasagna Flight, , Formaggi e Paté, and Tiramisu for dessert. The lasagna flight wasn't very flavorful and it wasn't anything that was extraordinary that would make me want to go back. The pizza was ok...The tiramisu was a bit too wet for my preference. What was more disappoting was the service. The food took almost 45min to come out after ordering and our server was not really attentive. It didn't hep that the outside seating that we were sitting was faced directly from the main entrance door, where we were able to see our server go on her phone multiple times (which wouldn't bother me if she was actually taking, and brining our order timely) The only thing I liked from the entire dinner was the lychee cocktail. lol. Would not recommend as there are plenty of other Italian restaurants that offers better food, service and ambiance.
Good Italian in NY
We ate well. They say it's the best lasagna in NY. It's actually not bad, although don't expect it to be the best you've ever eaten. The pizza is very good. The place is cute, although very dark (you literally eat by candlelight). They have affordable wine for NY.

Food was delish and the service was Off the hook Diana our waitress was the best cozy and welcoming even the owner came by to see if we were enjoying our meal we will be back
Magic in the Village
My friend, who lives in Greenwich Village, introduced me to this cozy taverna tucked away on McDougall St. We were ushered to a quiet table on a terrace in the backyard by Agnes, our waiter. Friendly and charming, she introduced us to the featured dish here: Lasagna. There are perhaps a dozen varieties on offer and we settled on sharing from a tasting menu featuring this quintessential Italian dish. The food was a revelation, we drank Sangiovese to wash it down, and cannoli and cappuccino for dessert. The service and ambiance were magical. My companion and I had a luncheon that we are not likely to forget. Thank you Agnes for taking such good care of us.
Delicious lasagna
Very good lasagna, nice atmosphere, fair prices for NY. We came here after reading the comments on TripAdvisor and we do not regret our choice. Fast and courteous service
Good option on Washington square
Good option near Washington Square. Typical Italian restaurant. Lasagnas are the specialty. the menu is basically pasta
Good value for money
Very nice atmosphere also when seated outside, good food made with fresh ingredients. Simple Italian dishes that do not disappoint. Overall a good value for money.
Delicious food and a magic véranda
This is a beautiful restaurant with a magic veranda The pizza are delicious We went twice and ordered different pizza. The lasagna are bit too greasy for my taste Excellent cappuccino Excellent service.

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
