The ambiance of the place is really chic.
I love the art they have in their restaurant. They have a built in mini museum/store, which is super cute and fits their aesthetic. It was a bit pricy, but it seems almost everything in New York is. The service was good, and the food was decent. The chicken I ordered was a bit dry. But other than that everything else was okay. Quite the experience, but the food was mid.
Be the first to ReplyI didn't even realize I rated this place 5 years back.
And it hasn't changed at all! lol I must say this place is very French! It may just be part of their etiquette, because service is terrible here. Especially for the price you are charging for the amount of food. I truly just forgot that I had already been here. Not until I walked in. But I gave them benefit of the doubt, yet it was still the same. Don't get me wrong, this place is absolutely beautiful. But the food was just overpriced and service was just close to none. We spent $250 on brunch, and weren't full. (Someone please explain) And the reviews in staff looking judgmental is absolutely real...

I actually really liked 2/3 things we got here but for me I can justify the cost. The chicken dish we got was 37 dollars but was barely enough for one person. I did really enjoy their savory crepes and one of the best desserts of my life. You HAVE to get the tarte tatin. It is the absolute best bite I've had in nyc. The service was definitely nothing exciting and the vibes was definitely the kind of fine dining I personally don't enjoy. However, I think that's the restaurant and my personal difference so I don't think that should stop you. I wouldn't take anybody here except for dessert.

I went here when I wasn't hungry (with friends) and immediately fell in love with the outdoor decor, the pottery in store and the layout in general. I ordered an app (the salad app, which was good btw) and found it the perfect bite for the not-so-hungry. Great drinks, like really great. Recommend getting a cocktail, doesn't even matter what. We all ordered differently and each one was delish. We did have odd service tho. I feel like the server looked at us as if we were lost and needed directions, rather than as if we were patrons ready to be helped. I have a lot to say about that but I won't go there at this point in time. Best part is, my friend had apparently made reservations (last min I guess) which makes the server's unsolicited and slightly judgmental looks at us all the worse. Anyway.. hence the rating.

We went here for my husband's birthday, and it was very lovely. Loved how they had a store inside the restaurant, and it honestly felt as if we were back in France. We would definitely go back if we were to ever travel back to New York. The service was great and the food was top-notch. I definitely recommend it for brunch.

Delicious food, friendly staff. If you want a cookie, make sure you arrive before noon!

Great service, ambiance, and food! The restaurant is gorgeous with elegant, simple French aesthetic. Great spot for a date night or night out with the girls! Got the steak tartare, cheese board, halibut, green beans, scalloped potatoes, and crème brûlée. Definitely recommend the tartare and potatoes! The drinks were also really good and really nicely presented! Check out the bar / lounge area in the back for a separate cocktail menu.
Be the first to ReplyGenerally speaking I'm not usually a fan of French
Generally speaking I'm not usually a fan of French restaurants because I'm not a fan of the size of the portions of their dishes. I lift and need my protein. That being said, I can certainly appreciate the fine dining experience that French Restaurants offer. La Mercerie is definitely a good date spot if you're looking for a place that is fancy and romantic. I went here a few months back for a birthday celebration. I made a reservation but had to wait a few minutes in their furniture store area to be seated, which I thought was kind of interesting. When they sat us we were sat at a cute candle lit table that almost felt like out of a Disney movie. The service was attentive and fairly quick. I ordered the filet mignon with pasta. It was tasty. We also had some cake for dessert which was good too. All in all a good experience. Food was good. Service was good. The ambiance definitely sets the mood.

this is my favorite place to stop and eat at in Soho, it was my first time sitting indoors, and I have to say the environment is more chaotic and busy inside, compared to outside. Upon entering, my friend was told that we had a one hour time limit, which is insane. However, we ended up leaving later than that, and didn't feel that rushed. I ordered a special squash quiche that had bacon in it and it was delicious! I ordered some bread and butter which didn't have the same deliciousness as previously ordered, the presentation and taste of it was different. This was my first time. Also, ordering their chocolate cookie which was very sweet and perfect to share with a friend. I'll need to buy some chocolate cookies to go next time.
Be the first to ReplyFood was great! Service is outstanding.
Ambiance is lovely. Made last minute reservations for 7 people and they happily accommodated.

Lovely lovely spot! Absolutely gorgeous setup and decor! This place is a ~vibe~ Came here on a weekend and it was packed. Thanks to our RSVP we were seated immediately. I ordered the croque monsieur croissant and a frose drink, it was delicious. Our waiter was helpful and sweet.
Be the first to ReplyLa Mercerie is a great French restaurant with amazing decor
La Mercerie is a great French restaurant with amazing decor and an inviting ambiance. The menu is filled with French dishes, including crepes, croissants, and quiches. The coffee was great and flavorful, while the sweet crepes AND savory crepes were heavenly. The service is friendly and attentive, making for a lovely brunch. I did like that they had an option to browse their dinnerware, that was nice.I liked that they had gluten free and vegetarian options so that my friend could have a nice time at a lovely restaurant with me.
Be the first to ReplyAfter leaving my comfortable apartment in Jamaica, Queens
After leaving my comfortable apartment in Jamaica, Queens for a midtown event that did not go so well, I chose to return to La Mercerie for a cocktail and dessert. They did not, as usual, pick up the telephone so that I may reserve a table and see how long I'd have. To my dismay, I realized that the same waitress had not been fired and attended my table. They did not have the mulled wine I had last time and wanted again, and this waitress with a stern and condescending look explained they switched to a citron Spring cocktail menu. Her attitude to me, different from that of the people to my left and right, was different. Is she the world expert on food? Are people from an older culture, Greek, with better food that centuries ago called Europeans and everyone else "barbarians" supposed to know about some citron festival? Maybe I can teach her a trillion things I know that she doesn't. But she can't afford it, and probably wouldn't understand most. They had thrown out the food I was going to take home last time without waiting fifteen minutes and I asked if I could order half of two desserts. The answer was "no" with an attitude. I asked if there were coffee refills, and she said that I could order another coffee with attitude. She was surprised that I said that it was not worth another $6. I did order another one. The new waiter did top it off when it got cold. I should have been given a free one to endure her service with a bizarre attitude and a bizarre air she should have an attitude with anyone, let alone me. She seemed surprised that I noticed that the profiterole had ice cream in it and should not have it. [The best profiterole I ever had, including compared to any in Greece or Italy, was at Dante Cafe by NYU. The cafe is now closed, and may still be occupied by an Australian place.]It seemed as I told two managers, that she had the attitude that I didn't know food or French food. What if I were illiterate and only ate at McDonald's? Most McDonald's have better service and, compared to some plates I had before, better food. I can go on about my credentials next to hers, and more, but the point is, the service was rude and I switched waiters again. The new person, polite, didn't come over until I signaled him. I asked how long I could stay. He said awhile, and when I asked again, he said the table has a 9:20 reservation. The hostess said 9:30 pm. He lied to clean it. That is understandable, but a lie.On top of everything, the trains were deplorable and it took me two and a half hours to go home. I did some personal work. But saving over $30 and making hot cocoa and enjoying it on my couch would have been MUCH better.I do not think the management is serious about saying anything to this woman. I saw no one speak to her. I would not mind if she were fired and if the place went out of business. Perhaps she should try dog walking and pick up what is better than her attitude to customers. I wouldn't return if they were to pay me a million dollars. DONE
Be the first to ReplyAnother excellent brunch here.
This isn't a type of food that I get super excited about but they do it incredibly well here. This time we got the croissant, chocolate croissant, chocolate chip cookie, crepe complete, and salmon tartine. The tartine was really excellent, and maybe even better than the crepe, which had always been our favorite item here. And the biggest star was probably the chocolate chip cookie, which is maybe one of the best ones in the city.

I remember this place being better, but on last visit was indeed dissapointed by food being over cooked, delivered to the table in one second and, while still pretty, not the warmest environment - they could smile more and say hello and goodbye. Oh, prices are insane even for our post covid world and drinks are tiny, tiny, tiny.

This is a stunning restaurant with glorious floral arrangements. Would probably do brunch here rather than dinner since their baked goods are exceptional. However, it is ridiculously priced! For example: $8 for 4 TINY pieces of bread/butter. (Albeit the butter is apparently from France and exceptional...Come on!!) I repeat $8. Of u have money to burn and don't mind leaving hungry, but want to appreciate an aesthetically lovely space, this is the place for you!

Such an amazing spot! I was hesitant at first about trying it because there are mixed reviews but I would 100% give it a 5/5. My husband and I sat outside and started with the special chocolate martinis which were absolutely incredible, would com back just for them. Then we had the oysters which were SO good - loved the lemon ice they put on top of it, so unique. For our entrees we split the quiche (wow so flavorful and light) and the crepe complete. Can't wait to come back again!

Went to La Mercerie with my friends last Saturday for dinner. No issues with food or service. But at home I've seen online that my credit card was charged twice (probably since we shared the bill waitress was confused and swiped my card twice). Next day I contacted restaurant and spoke to manager who emailed me CC authorization form to n order to take a look at this issue. After that I contacted Amex, and was told that emailing CC info it's a big no-no and business should know that. So now I have open a dispute through Amex for a simple reason that restaurant is unable to fix its own mistake. Sad, because ambiance and food are pretty good.
Be the first to ReplyLooks great , menu is limited , small portions .
Couldn't even cut the bread the knife was full and bread was tough .
Be the first to ReplyThe meal was just delicious.
The service was French. The ambiance was fabulous. We seat in the back nearest the merch section of The Guild. Quite enjoyable.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was generally very good, though our chicken
The food was generally very good, though our chicken paillard was a little dry. The hostess though was pretty incompetent--it's hard for a hostess to make a bad impression, but this one was generally not very friendly and seemed to be moving and reseating parties all the time. Then our waiter did that super annoying thing where he conspicuously did not write down our order because he's too cool for school and was just like, "I can remember it all don't worry," but then forgot certain items until he was reminded. Pretty irritating--just write it down, dude.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful restaurant with nice ambience but.
..1. We had a 730 pm reservation for 4 people and we had to wait 30 minutes for our table. They sent us to the back of the restaurant which is a home goods store. Trying to sell stuff while they made us wait? Felt wrong. No apologies for our wait.2. Also they try to sell you your napkins or your bowls from your dinner...they are on the menu3. As others have noted, wine pours are small and expensive. 4. For 4 people, they brought out 3 shrimps in the shrimp appetizer and 3 slices of cheese in the cheese plate. 2 pieces of bread for the cheese or the pate plate. Extra bread is $8. Small plate portions were notably small for the prices.5. Food overall was good, not great. Not memorable in any way.All hat, no cattle.

We came in Saturday with a 10am reservation and we're not disappointed! The four of us were quickly seated and provided menus. We got crepes to share and they were delicious with amazing jam on the side. I had a soft boiled egg in a mushroom cream sauce with Parmesan shaving and it was delectable. We ordered cappuccinos and lattes but not sure if the server mixed our orders or we just got the same thing, but it was still delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely! My favorite part was the scannable receipt where you can split the bill just by scanning, very efficient!
Be the first to ReplyReally don't understand the low rating of this place.
As someone that lived for 3 years in Paris I have to say la mercerie is pretty spot on when it comes to French simple food. I would give 4 stars for the food, it could be better but the decor makes it a 5 star. Service is pretty attentive and they never try to rush you. It's easy to score reservations as well which makes a 5 star for me.
Be the first to ReplyWow! I was super impressed.
I went with two of my girlfriends. We're all doctors in our late thirties who are overworked. It was a gorgeous setting. The staff was lovely and personable. They felt very authentic- and wanted to have us have a genuinely good experience. The portions are more than adequate- but European adequate. It is not American excess- which I love as well. The three of us split the cheese plate, they got the quiche d'jour and I had the Avocat crevette. (Pardon my spelling). We also had a bottle of the Muscadet. Delicate, balanced with very mild effervescence. The we took a walk around the store, coveting all the soft and gorgeous things. Will return.
