La Terrazza Roma Reviews
Terrible experience and got rip off!!
We arrived in Rome on Sep 8th we were on a waiting list for that night to eat at Lapergola Restaurant. Never heard back so the hotel we were staying at suggested La Terraza as an alternative. They called at 11:30 am and they had a table for 21:30 that same day. We accepted and had to put a credit card down to guarantee reservation. At around 14:30 Lapergola called me they had a cancellation and we can go to dine this evening. I accepted since this was a dream we had to experience dinner at this 3 star Michelin restaurant. Called back The Terraza and asked to please change our reservation to either Thursday or Friday evening. They said they couldn’t and because I was cancelling they would charge 140 euros per person which was 280 euros!!😱😱. I could understand if I had made reservations days or weeks ago, but obviously a few hours before meant that they had availability. Also, to charge a penalty could be possibly understood, but charging 280 euros for 2 is insulting and leaves a bad taste of a restaurant that if it has earned 1 Michelin star you would think that is based not only on their food, but also how they make someone visiting their restaurant makes them feel. Well they lefts a very bad taste in our mouth and will never visit and wanted to give everyone a fair warning of so no one else would have such a negative experience
Elegant dinner with stunning rooftop view
We decided to try this place for dinner during our stay in Rome and the whole experience felt very special. The atmosphere on the rooftop was romantic, with soft lights and a breathtaking view over the city, which made the evening feel unforgettable. The food was refined and beautifully presented, I especially enjoyed the seafood pasta that tasted really fresh and balanced. The service was professional and attentive, the staff explained the dishes and also suggested a wine that matched perfectly with our meal. Even though the prices are higher compared to many restaurants in Rome, the quality of the food and the amazing location made it feel worth it. It is not a place for a quick bite, but more for a relaxed evening where you enjoy both the flavors and the view. For us it was a highlight of the trip, perfect for a romantic dinner in the city.
Lovely but didn’t blow me away
This is a beautiful restaurant set on the 5th floor of a hotel with outdoor seating which is beautifully appointed. The lighting was lovely and there was a trumpeter who was very engaging and extremely talented. We were given an amuse bouche which was lovely and the accompanying bread was good. The extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar were of very high quality. I had the caprese salad to start which actually was disappointing. The tomatoes were quite hard and didn’t have an awful lot of flavour and they put a whole ball of mozzarella on top which was just overkill . We both ordered the special which was pasta carbonara with truffle shavings. It was delicious but at £40 per bowl I’m really not sure it was what I’d consider value for money. Again, the wine was pricey (£23 for a glass) and not particularly good. Service was excellent and the ambience lovely. I’m not sure I’d visit again as I’m not sure the food was good enough to warrant the price.
Food was fantastic, amazing service from the staff, very
Food was fantastic, amazing service from the staff, very knowledgeable staff and helpful. Ambiance is instagram worthy.
Disappointing
The food was terrible. The meat was hard and like rubber. Every serving was carb and cream sauce no flavor. The restaurant was empty and they gave us only one time 6:30pm for time of reservation. It was empty for 45 mins. -1 hour. Terrible ambiance aside from the view.
Highly overrated
Nothing was good. I would not go there. Highly overrated. Smallest portions possible and very overpriced. We were very disappointed.
The place to go to lose faith in the Michelin guide…
If you would like to experience a poorly coordinated and disappointing meal for a one star experience at 5 star prices this is the place! From the food quality, the wine pairing, the service, and beyond. You too can lose faith in fine dining at La Terrazza. The view is spectacular. You can also walk up a hill and see the same thing without the loss of time, the disappointing food, and the general sense of regret. I hate writing negative reviews. I am sorry to do so. But out of respect for others am compelled to post this.
This is a must visit.
From the food to the service everything is perfection. Simone and Carlo our servers were amazing. They made us feel special and like we were the only guests. The food was phenomenal. They should have a Michelin star if they do not. Oh and you must try the tiramisu and basically the whole menu. The spaghetti is the best I have had anywhere. From the attention to detail to the great gestures of hospitality, you made us feel like family. We will be returning again and again. As on this visit alone to Rome we returned twice. Until next time my friends! Thank you for incredible evenings and to the chef, we thank you from the bottom our hearts for coming to meet us and for the incredible evenings. We love you La Terraza.
One of the best fine dining restaurants we have ever been
One of the best fine dining restaurants we have ever been to - and one of the best meals of our lives! Everything was beyond outstanding. Views: 5++++ Food: amazing. Stellar. 5++++ Service: 5++++ I can't even describe how amazing and unique the food was. It was incredible. A must-visit when in Rome. And reservations are needed.
My wife and I had dinner here last night.
Wow! Arguably the best meal of our lives. Easy to rate this meal. Ambience - 5/5: The setting was one of the nicest I've ever seen. Top floor of 6-story hotel, with sweeping views of Rome. We were right by the window but the restaurant is small enough that there is no bad seat in the house. Beautifully anointed inside as well. About halfway through our meal, the windows of the "terrace" were opened with an electric mechanism that raised and slanted the entire windowpane. Service - 5/5: Everyone from the runners to waiters to the sommelier were very friendly and helpful throughout the entire almost ~3 hour experience. Food - 5/5: we opted for the longer of the two available tasting menus, that featured 8 set courses, but when you include the various amuse-bouche dishes, it was closer to 15! Too many items to describe each one in detail but the food here was as awesome as they looked. Each one was thoughtfully presented with custom-made dishes that highlighted what was being served (e.g. urchin shaped glass with glass spikes!). The highlights for me were the scallops, the eel, and the braised beef. I will say that the menu was seafood centric, 4 of the 5 protein courses were seafood, so if one is not a fan of seafood, this tasting menu may not be for you. I can't believe I'm about to write this, but for an experience and food like this, 210 euros per person seemed very reasonable. I paired the meal with a 1997 super Tuscan wine that was "reasonably" priced as well. The eyebrow raising items on the bill were the cocktails we had, which were 42 and 28 euros respectively, pretty steep by any measure. My wife and I have now been to ~6-7 Michelin rated restaurants, and both of us agreed this one rises above them all. This will be a meal we will not soon forget. Unbelieveable!
What an amazing Michelin star restaurant in the heart of
What an amazing Michelin star restaurant in the heart of Rome & located in the beautiful hotel Eden. We ordered the chef's 3 course tasting menu accompanied with wine pairings. The chef introduces you to flavors that your palate has probably never tasted. The interior is very contemporary & modern. The staff is bilingual & exhibit true 5 start treatment.
Incredible service.
The amuse-bouche was wonderful with a wheat grass shot to cleanse the pallet. We had the X year tasting menu. It was a delicious and complex explosion of flavors! Highly recommend!!
