The service was great -- they checked our coats right away, and there was a cute seating area with old fashioned furniture for us to wait while they prepared our table. During the tea service, they frequently came back to fill our cups with tea, and all in all the service was timely and polite. One thing I liked about Lady Mendl's is that rather than picking a whole pot of tea, they periodically come by to fill your cup, so you can change which tea you want to try at any time. I tried the lemon verbena, wonderland rooibos, and mint -- all of which were pretty good! I also really enjoyed their scones and the seasonal soup, which was perfect on a cold day! However, everything else was a bit too much on the sweet side for me (especially the vanilla crepe cake, which was really overwhelming with all the cream(, and the sandwiches didn't have much flavor. If you have a big sweet tooth though, I don't think you'll have much of a problem :)

This was such a lovely experience from start to finish. The teahouse is tucked away in a beautifully decorated brownstone. I was greeted immediately upon entry and invited to wait in the lovely Victorian parlor while I waited for the rest of my party. After being seated by the hostess, our server arrived and explained the 5 course menu. Each course is accompanied by various teas, which have unlimited refills. The Ceamy Toasted Coconut oolong teas was my favorite. The first course was a delicious seasonal pumpkin soup, followed by an assortment of Tea sandwiches , then traditional scones, a 21 layer Gateau de Crepe, and lastly assorted Petit Fours. The atmosphere was simply lovely , from the Victorian decor to the service. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Ugh.. I had a coworker who wanted to go and booked this place. I have travelled/experienced quite a bit and never leave bad reviews anywhere online especially after Covid and what this industry has endured. I think for the price of the food, the tea and the experience, it is way overpriced. They start telling you all of these rules from the time you walk in - can't even make it up trying to force everyone to check coats/bags etc. I overheard the hostess telling some ladies something was not allowed, not sure what it was but my coworker was rolling her eyes and we ignored. We carried on and were seated {decor is beautiful}. We watched as some lady who worked there ~glad she was not our server~ basically start harassing people over very small things, one lady had kind of a large coat and she was telling her about the coat check but the lady did not want to check her coat. The attitude of this woman was unreal. Very hostile, almost borderline mental, I felt like leaving but my coworker was treating so alas.. I would avoid this place because of the rude staff management and oddball rules. Not my "tea" bag.. Two thumbs down for treating customers poorly and not caring who sees it. Ugh...

We came here on a Sunday afternoon for tea with the ladies of my family. Making a reservation was easy through Open Table. The entrance is nondescript, but when you walk in, it is gorgeous and tastefully decorated. The vibe was perfect for a tea. We ordered the Afternoon Tea Prix Fix menu that came with 5 courses, each course accompanied by a different tea. The courses vary by season, for Christmas Eve we the courses were pumpkin soup, an assortment of tea sandwiches, scones, a 21-layer vanilla crepe cake, and lastly petite fours. The teas were Earl Grey, Moroccan Mint, Creamy Toasted Coconut, Wonderland Rooibos, and Lemon Verbena. The Creamy Toasted Coconut stood out by far and our party all agreed it was the best. Since everything is pre-portioned you don't get seconds on any of the courses, including the scones. This is different from other tea rooms I have visited. You can however, have refills on all the teas. The service was good and the waitstaff attentive. My only complaint was that not all the teas were served hot, most were a few touches above lukewarm.

The food, the place, the people, the unique, quirky atmosphere of it all....perfection.
Be the first to ReplyCutest tea salon.
Quite a spread for tea service, starting with soup served in a Moroccan glass adding that cute little cross-cultural touch. Fewer tea options than I'd expect, but you can try as many as you like in one sitting. The ambience transports you to the Victorian era, and the waitstaff are ever so polite and accommodating. I'll be coming back, and passing the word along.

We came here for a friend's birthday, we got high tea, for each of us I think it was $75/ per person and they brought out three tiers for the 10 of us, we asked for additional sandwiches and they absolutely obliged, everything was delicious! They had a different tea pairing for each meal course and fantastic food!

Outstanding service! We never felt rushed, we got a reservation alert informing us we could arrive earlier than our scheduled time which we took full advantage of! Lovely ambiance, I just wish they had some more non-sweet options for example for the scones it would have been wonderful to have one sweet and one non-sweet scone option. With the preserves that accompany the scones , the sweetness was overwhelming. I would have also preferred the robust teas were stronger. We thoroughly enjoyed various tea options and the pairing with the courses. Our waiter was patient refilling our cups multiple times and accommodating our requests. I highly recommend!
