Wonderful experience
Outstanding experience - setting, service and, above all, the food the best. Was so very pleased with everything we had and experienced.

We have been visiting the Vineyard every Oct for years and have dined at L’Etoile most of those years. This year, something came up and at 12:30pm, I had to cancel a 6:45 pm reservation. This was over Columbus Day weekend so I’m sure they had no trouble rebooking our table. Yet, they still charged my card for $250 ( $50 pp.) It’s outrageous for a restaurant of this caliber to take advantage of that. As the saying goes, “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.” Bad business practice and needless to say, we won’t be back.

Delicious food and great service. Pricey but worth it. Book early as it is difficult to get a reservation
Be the first to ReplyOur favorite restaurant in Martha's Vineyard
One of the best meals I have ever had! Even my teenagers loved it. From the bread to the main course to the dessert, it was all top notch! This restaurant sits in a beautiful white house with gorgeous landscaping. The interior is elegant and warm. Our waitress Bella was very knowledgeable and attentive. A restaurant not to miss while in Martha's Vineyard!

We found the ambience beautiful. But what you paid for this unique menu, will not be back. Service was very good though. Regards
Be the first to ReplyA pleasant evening and excellent food.
This is, I believe, a chef run and owned restaurant. I had the lobster and my wife had the duck. Both were excellent, and I appreciated the way the lobster was prepared to make it easier to eat. We sat outside under the tent, which was a tad cool, but there were heaters. The service was pleasant and efficient. It was also quiet, being outdoors.
Be the first to ReplyI never write a bad review but be warned
The main courses arrived 2 hours after we arrived for our reservation. The staff showed no concern and appeared uninterested and surly. This ruined the quality of the food which was good. Also this is an expensive restaurant and should a treat and enjoyable.

I've been to l'etoile many times and the food and service has usually been "ok" however I will NEVER be returning. After my friend tested positive for Covid (and I was exposed) on the morning of our dinner reservation I called the restaurant to cancel. I spoke with a "less than helpful" woman who said it would cost me $100 for a "NO show fee". After getting nowhere with her and after she refused to put the owner on the phone she told me I would NOT be charged if they filled our two seats that night. Well I checked later that night and they did fill our two seats and confirmed that they were fully committed. I decided to email the owner who has not even had the decency to correct the situation. In these times when everyone is so hypersensitive to Covid I find it impossible that I did the right thing in cancelling our reservation and l'etoile choose to punish us for it. Also not sure how cancelling a reservation could be called a "no show fee" . How does l'etoile choose to keep $100 instead of keeping a loyal customer. I will not support a restaurant that will not support their community. There are many other very good restaurants in Edgartown and I had to cancel quite a few other reservations. letoile was the only one who ignored my Covid situation. My advice is that customers should keep this in mind when making future reservations.

Can't understand the negative reviews ...must be COVID hangover stuff. We ( 4 of us) had dinner there two nights ago and all agree that everything was TOP NOTCH. From the cocktails before dinner, the service , the food and the decor this place is Fine Dining in Edgartown at it's best...period.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointed
Atmosphere was incredible. However, the lobster entre I ordered was awful. It tasted like a cheap dish of dirty rice and shrimp. When asked, I even told our waiter how disappointed I was. Not one person offers a discount. For the two of us, our meal was over $200.00 and I will warn others of our disappointment.
Be the first to ReplyYeah, it's good, but yah gotta get Lola as your server.
Ya wanna be taken care of? Ask to sit in Lola's section.
Lobsta was good. Chocolate mouse good stuff.
Oysters yummy but I'm a bit of a purist, prefer it raw with just Tabasco. I appreciate the change up in flavors though.
But again gots to get the Lola.
Such a special treat
We loved out meal! We at outside under an elegant tent. An amazing meal with fabulous service. Everything was so delicious from the salad to gnocchi to lobster dish to drinks to dessert. I hope to return again.

We ate here for our anniversary. The wait staff was attentive. The oysters, truffle potato gnocchi, and whiskey pig sour were amazing. The lobster and halibut were both flavorful and memorable 😋

It was great evening dinner that we booked a month before as we missed having dinner in mid September by not having reservations before our week stay in Edgartown. The service was great during the evening. It was a little colder but we dressed for it and was fine when the heater kicked in. Our food were excellent as always when dining here for years when in the island . Our visit to the island won’t be complete without having dinner at this establishment. See you in May 2021 .Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyA perfect 5.0
Everything was fabulous. Not inexpensive, but nothing in MV is. After all, it is an island. Atmosphere was lovely. We arrived a little early, but were seated right away. Oysters were luscious, especially with their complementary sauces. Rack of lamb was perfect, as was the game hen. I had a glass of Sancerre with oysters and a Bordeaux with lamb. Both were perfect. Didn’t even look at the wine list. Service was just right. The waitperson never asked “How is everything,” just appeared whenever we needed something. It just doesn’t get any better.

This restaurant is fine but should be more then fine for the price. The oysters and gnocchi were good. Duck and filet were average. The service was adequate but certainly did not go out of their way to accommodate guests ( it was cold outside and had not set up patio heaters yet). For $350 dinner for 2 I would expect much more
Be the first to ReplyFantastic as always!
Everything was delicious from start to finish. Service was impeccable and the setting lovely. We go there every time we visit the island and it's consistently the best meal of our trip! I had the gnocchi to start, and the lobster etuvee as my entree. Both delicious. My husband loved his short ribs and the halibut entree. The chef is very creative - everything on the menu is special. You must go here!

Was advised this place was the spot. Our concierge raved. Anyway, in that this forum is here for honest reviews, I shall deposit mine.
Arrived and stood in short line. Was regaled with some jerk ahead of us yelling at the hostesses for not being admitted without reservation. Said he ate there for 15 years. Blah blah. Whatever. Not the restaurant’s fault at all, and actually made us think we found the right spot. Hostesses were lovely to us.
Walked out to a large tent on side of property. I make no comment about it other than to say it seemed like one of those wedding tents they spray out on the Vineyard. Proceeded to order/eat. Ordered the tomato “gazpacho” and what it was was minced tomatoes akin to a hearty salsa, which my wife can make (and better). Should have come with a bag of Tostitos on the side. Maybe a bucket of Natty Ices.
Followed with the duck (nothing else on the limited menu appealed to me). Was Never asked how I liked it cooked. Not once. Also it was served long after my wife and kids meals arrived. Have to say my wife’s lobster pappardelle dish was fine. And they went out of their way to make my kid a pappardelle and kid friendly steak and sublime mashed potatoes.
However, my duck was overcooked. Not bad, but overcooked. Highlight was my kid’s mashed potatoes and the wine (which I picked). About as unmemorable a place at this level as I’ve eaten at, in all honesty.
Not trying to be cruel and I get that restaurants are hurting, but this place seemed to be packed and admittedly this was my first time there, so maybe going there repeatedly helps. The price doesn’t bother me if it’s worth it. The island lacks meaningful competition in this regard overall, in my opinion.
