I believe that this establishment can be a 5 star location and most will say that they are, my problem is that this location is an experienced drive with a focus on delivering good food. Today my girlfriend was celebrating her 33rd b'day and directly before ordering 2 bottles, the Gypsy Kings came out to perform and the staff passed out roses. For some reason they skipped the only table with black women(our table) when I asked the staff passing out the roses she began to escalate and act crazy(Ashley). When her boss(Baptista) came to the table he asked what he can give me, seemingly trying to buy me instead of dealing with what they offer in this business, which is experience. California has too many great establishments! Take your money to somewhere that they respect all and want to live up to standards!

LouLou location is inside the mall, the decoration of the restaurant are so good, I love the Chill vibe, Service and food are great! Recommended!
Be the first to ReplyHonestly the service was quiet, quite slow.
Felt that the space was more eager to curate a boho Tulum feel than focused in quality and the guest experience. Waiter tied to oversell on Evian water when we requested tap, didn't know the menu and a LITERAL BAGUETTE was 15$. Let's not let that slide ppl. Go to Elephante.

Loved the brunch on Mother's Day and ambiance, DJ and music of all kinds . We enjoyed our day there.

Ambiance is 10/10- we came on a Friday night and it felt like a night out in Tulum with the greenery, dim lighting, and DJ creating such a vibe. Service could definitely be better as we had to ask for our water to be refilled every time; otherwise, our server himself was nice. My friend had the moulin rouge drink, which she enjoyed and was a nice pour. The baked Brie, LouLou pizza, and steak n frites were all good. Wouldn't get the escargot again, not the best I've had. Would love to come back for the day time brunch vibes but unfortunately heard from friends that the brunch buffet isn't really tasty. Looks fun though so may still be worth a try.
Be the first to ReplyWent to a Sunday brunch for my birthday a couple weeks ago.
It was so delicious. It is pricey but the food was great. The music, ambiance and views are lovely. Even though we had reservations we did have to wait around 30 minutes for our table. I think it's definitely a special occasion brunch.

Be the first to ReplyLouLou Santa Monica provided the perfect brunch vibe.
It's located on the upper level of the Santa Monica Promenade. There's parking available for a cost per hour in the parking structure. The brunch is buffet style at a set cost of $60 per person not including drinks. Realistically it's about $100-$125 per person after drinks. The food options included an omelette bar, crepe bar, brisket sliders, fruit, carved beef, waffles, ceviche, salmon, sushi, parfaits and other breakfast/brunch items and desert. The food was pretty good to be buffet style but the highlight of Lou Lou's is the customer service, staff and ambiance. It's beautiful outdoor decor feels like a vacation. The DJ and the saxophone player were the highlight of the brunch. They are amazing and made sure everyone had a great time. The music selections were mixed and provided a good time for everyone. We danced, sang and had a wonderful time. The amazing staff passed out beautiful roses to the women during brunch which made it that much better. If you want to have a great time in a comfortable lively environment, go to Lou Lou's. Enjoy!
Be the first to ReplyLove LouLou -- one of my favorite spots in Santa Monica.
I'm a regular and recommend it to friends. I especially love the sophisticated atmosphere, but the waitstaff are now wearing corny "French" costumes with berets and striped shirts that really cheapen the feel of the place. I don't want to feel like I'm at Disneyland!

Fun, vibrant vibe at this fabulous boho chic rooftop restaurant in downtown Santa Monica! Loulou was the perfect spot and energy for a work team happy hour meet-up! Wine selection, service a restaurant aesthetics were great and the dinner menu looked fabulous so I'll definitely be back for that soon! Pictured apps were a beef (maybe truffle) carpaccio and baked goat cheese dip. Both were exquisite!! Highly recommend the baked goat cheese. Also the pick 4 appetizer dip (can't recall all 4 but two were hummus) which was yummy and went for the hard close with the dessert platter! Sold! This was such a fun experience at LouLou with their cute, eclectic restaurant aesthetics that would make a perfect venue for a girls night or birthday party event!
Be the first to ReplyThe " Tulum atmosphere " of this restaurant was appealing.
So my friend and I decided to try this place. I ordered the quiche Lorraine, and my friend got the ceviche. Everything was on point. The waitress even advised us some delicious mocktails. Overall we had a great time. For parking, we parked at the mall and got 90min free parking !

We had the most amazing celebration here at LouLous for the end of our certification program! We came here on a Thursday morning for brunch and the place was so serene. Location was impeccable also as it was so close to the pier but also away from the tourist action. James took care of us well and checked in on us to make sure we didn't need anything. They even brought out a sign for us to celebrate !!! It was a vibe!! We capped off our celebration with some green tea shots on the house - the shots were AMAZING!! THANK YOU for having us !!

the ambiance of LouLou is the primary reason my friends and i decided to spend a 21st birthday here. unfortunately menus and prices online were not up to date, so we were quite shocked when we got there.. they sat us, a party of 8, at a sofa with a long coffee table that barely reached our knees. it wasn't the most ideal dining experience-- hunching over our legs and table like a dinner and movie in your living room at home. staff was nice, not super friendly but didn't try to make accommodations for us when we requested a real table (which would've been quite easy to put together honestly), but nevermind, the ambiance was indeed beautiful. food was good. i ordered the salmon, a much smaller portion than i anticipated but as expected from a typical LA "fancy" restaurant. all my other friends ordered pizzas because they didn't want the hassle of hunching over the "dinner" table to eat. however, nothing exceptional considering their prices. service was mid. some of the food runners didn't seem like they really knew wtf was going on and came off as a bit unprofessional. no bad service, just pretty mediocre which maybe was disappointing because of an additional 4% service fee as well as a mandatory 20% gratuity charge (on top of tax). also we're in LA and this is a pretty fucking pricey restaurant so sue me for expecting exceptional service. overall, if you're coming here just for vibes, the ambiance did not disappoint. other than that, it kind of felt like a waste of money. you don't really get what you paid for.

What a vibe! Okay so the view isn't much but the ambiance, the decor, and the music is perfect in here. Very cool space. We came during happy hour and they have some great options. We started with an espresso martini which was just the pick me up we needed. The calamari was good and the salmon tacos were really delicious! Service was great and fast, but also we went early so can't tell you what it's like on a busy night. Cool spot!
Be the first to ReplyCame here for a brunch with friends on a Saturday at 2:30.
Music was too loud to talk. Brunch was cold, food was dry, pizza was below mediocre (crust was very soggy). Prime rib was dried up, very chewy. Yogurt cups weren't even that great. If you go here- get the kitchen food. Stay away from the overpriced brunch. Or look at it before you try it. Best thing was the decor.

We found this place online so we wanted to try it: It started okay - we ordered a cocktail each and an appetizer. The cocktails and our appetizer came within a timely manner and were thoroughly enjoyable. We then didn't see our server for the next 35 minutes. We stacked our empty appetizer silverware and dishes and politely asked a busser to remove them after they had sat on the table along with our empty glasses. No one asked if we wanted another drink (a missed opportunity for a sale, as we would have said yes.) After more waiting, we asked the busser to please send our server over so that we could place our order for our entrees. Our lovely server was friendly, but they clearly gave her a section that was way too big. She only had one other server helping her with the entire restaurant. How is that fair to her? She had no choice but to give poor service. The entrees arrived after another 45 minutes. I got the vegan moussaka. We were never checked on after we got our food. The eggplant in the dish was completely raw. The lentils and vegan cheese were flavorful. I would have sent it back but I was never checked on so I just ate around the raw eggplant. All excitement for the meal evaporated. We wanted to order wine but had no opportunity to. Decided to give up on the possibility of dessert. Asked for the check. Disappointing. Just another lackluster restaurant in Santa Monica with wannabe Tulum-style decorations trying desperately to be relevant and NOT succeeding.

It was raining and for an "outdoor" restaurant they were not prepared. They jammed people into another room with barely any room between other customers. I ended up ordering the steak and egg dish and felt nauseous 2 hours later. I had full blown food poisoning later that night. The steak and egg was actually my first meal of the day and my wife had the croque madam. My wife and I had the same meals after this place and she didn't get sick at all.My first and last time at this place.
Be the first to ReplyDisclaimer-- this is my opinion of my experience.
My girlfriends and husbands do brunch/dinner at a new spot every month-- this month we ate here. After seeing it on Instagram I was super excited. I was immediately let down 1.) sat 30 min late after having reservations 2.) had a makeshift table placed up against a bar with bar staff placing cups and napkins on the bar in front of us. 3.) didn't have any water served for 20 min 4.) ambiance was stressful. servers were flustered and really unorganized. Very chaotic. 5.) relatively new restaurant not ready for the demand, let alone the rain. 6.) overpriced- $600 brunch. Runny eggs were brought well done. 7.) the only saving grace was the drinks were pretty good. 8.) would not come here for more than drinks a pregame before going elsewhere for dinner9.) friend just got a cease and desist for privately sharing a medical concern with the restaurant
Be the first to ReplyTerrible Terrible restaurant.
From the service to the food to the vibe. We had reservations at 12pm and due to the rain, were sat 30 mins after (without any apologies as to why they couldn't seat us) what really frustrated me and my group was that a larger party of 8 people walked in about 10 mins after us and were sat immediately. When I asked the host, she said it was because I had requested the patio and it was raining and they couldn't seat the patio but mind you, there were 2-3 different groups of people already dining on the patio (I know, what the... right?!) they then proceed to seat us at our makeshift table and when we got to the table it was for a party of 4 instead of a party of 6 after confirming multiple times we were a party of 6. It still gets worse, we get sat, no water for at least 15 mins and then it took about 45 mins to finally put in our order. Let's not talk about the food, HORRENDOUS. 2 of our friends got food poisoning from the steak and eggs dish :( and all the while, not one manager came over to apologize for the sh*t show this restaurant is/was. Everyone working there looks upset and frustrated and as if they were born that morning. Nobody here acknowledges you and will run in the opposite direction just so they don't have to be the one to deal with you. For a $600 brunch; I was expecting a fun and cute brunch but it was the complete opposite. Plenty of other restaurants in the neighborhood that care and have great food. Don't waste your time here.
Be the first to ReplyBad service.
Took over 30 min for the bartender to assist us. The lady in the front was very rude. Said there wasn't any seating available yet people with no appointments who arrived much later, she'd sit them down. I don't recall her name but she wore a black dress today (3/18 around 1:30ish). Really made me feel discriminated. Been here before for professional related reasons but didn't appreciate that ladies attitude at all. Very disappointed at this place!!
