Went here for date night and it was a good experience.
The design and look of the restaurant was very nice. The most important part to point out about the atmosphere was the live music, I love it I think it's a great addition to anything, however if you're not a fan it can be a bit noisy. I did notice once we got seated it took awhile for the waitress to come over and take our order. I don't know if I was just hungry but it was something that stood out for me. The food overall from 1-5 was a 4 for me. Our favorite was the Carne Asada plate it was banging!

Your typical overpriced overhyped traditional [insert cuisine here] restaurant in LA. Stale chips for the guacamole, fish filets came out cold, whole fish was just okay -- not much flavor to it at all, sweet chili renello. $5 for extra salsa... Beans were good. Not sure how places like this continue to pop up but they do have an outstanding selection of mezcal and the cocktails were good. Beautiful inside. Service was good. Mole was decent as well. Prices are insane, of course. Had one bottle of wine, a few cocktails a couple appetizers and entrees total was almost $600 with tip. Tried it once to know we'll never come back. Would honestly rather just go to one of the many taco trucks on Crenshaw. Food is 10x Better and 1/10 of the price.

They had live music, but it was so loud you couldn't talk to the person next to you. We started with a dirty water carafe that had mold in the bottom of the carafe. The server tried to tell us it was from lemons and mint. Nope. It was a fairly thick layer of fuzz on the bottom. The chips and guacamole were yummy and a good start. But the chicken breast in the Mole Negro was overcooked, dry and very tough/chewy. Overall, we were disappointed in this place.

This place was great! First thing that catches your eye is the decor and wall of tequilas they specialize in. My service was great and super helpful when it came to ordering. The food is fresh and the homemade tortillas is a must have. The drinks we had were just amazing. If you are looking for a great place to have drinks and dinner definitely come here.

After hearing rave reviews, we decided to spend our anniversary at Madre's only to find ourselves horribly disappointed. From the moment of arrival, the welcome--or lack thereof--by the rude and morose hostess set the tone. Her smile, much like the warmth in their elote, was utterly absent. The food arrived as if by some unknown lottery, devoid of timing or temperature. The guacamole and tortillas, while passable, could not salvage the parade of culinary missteps. The queso fundido was so stubbornly thick, it shattered our slightly stale tortilla chips, while the chicharrones could have doubled as rocks in their cold, greasy hardness. My mole dish was a plate of sauce, with one pitiful drumstick lost at sea with a lone scoop of overly salted rice for survival. The mariachi band was excellent though. They played with a gusto and talent that deserved a far better setting. Moreover, our request for a larger table to accommodate our dishes was denied, despite numerous empty tables the entire time we were there. Such inflexibility during a meal meant to celebrate our anniversary, which, by the by, went entirely unacknowledged, only made things worse. In conclusion, even, rhymes with Paco Sell, puts this establishment to shame when it comes to serving hot food. I arrived home with the unfortunate need to revisit with my meal, in circumstances best left unspoken. I'd encourage you to avoid this place, unless you, like me, want to end up re-serving your meal into a porcelain bowl a few hours later.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome spot.
As a disclaimer I only sit at the bar. Drinks are good. Actually great. Drinks are great. Food selection is yummy.
Be the first to ReplyEach dish had its own flavor which I appreciated.
The service was good. Didn't wait long for our food. Went on a Friday around 7 the mariachis started to play on a little stage. The didn't come up to your table playing so that was nice being it can get super loud. Nice views out the window of the sun.

Great Mole! I had no idea there were so many different types of mole. I had mole before and thought I didn't like mole. but Madres changed me. It was delicious
Be the first to ReplyOkay here we go.
I went to happy hour with very good friends who had a good experience here and wanted us to experience it as well, but to be honest the only decent food were the appetizers we shared. We ordered from the dinner menu and got the carne asada and got 1/3 lb of steak and 4 tacos. The service was good I just wish their servers were honest with us when we ordered our food because my friends questioned the portion size of the steak and he brushed it off. The ambiance here was nice. That is all.

I've been to this location and their other location in the Palms area. This location is much better and has entertainment. We came on a Sunday around 4:30pm and it was pretty busy. We had reservations but it didn't seem like their was much of a wait for people that didn't have reservations. You can make reservations from their website. We were seated pretty close to the stage they have. I ordered the Froze for a drink which is like a blended tequila/grapefruit drink. It's really good! I also ordered the chicken mole negro and they were good as well. For appetizers we ordered the chorizo queso and the guac. Both were also good. My only negative is that it does get loud. So you can't really have conversations with the people you're there with without screaming. Although the live music was nice, maybe don't come with the intention of being able to have conversations with your friend Parking was shopping center parking or paid street parking.

I went on a weekday for lunch - service was amazing, beautiful interiors, and the food was decent (a bit salty for me). We brought our baby and the whole staff was very cooperative and friendly. The drinks are really good! Highly recommend.

Delicious food, great service, the mariachi plays on Sundays from 12-3pm, great atmosphere. Everything was delicious! Definitely recommend.
Be the first to ReplyFood was not impressive and expensive.
Sales tax should be 10% they charge 11.9%. Watch your bill.

This place was amazing I loved the vibe they have at this restaurant, we celebrated my sisters birthday and it was such a success. Making reservations was so easy! I loved how they had a music group playing every now and then and as for the food it was 10 out of 10, all the salsas were delicious and the drinks were great if you like mezcal which I do! Would recommend this place if your looking for good Oaxacan food with a nice ambiance.

A few friends and I came to Madre to blow some steam off for happy hour. If you sit in the patio area, HH menu is allowed. We ordered margaritas of course! And one of us ordered micheladas. We ordered various items off of the happy hour menu-taquitos, enchiladas, chips and guac as well as white fish ceviche. The server was busy but he got around to us every time we needed him and reminded us about the happy hour timeline! After happy hour, the live band came on inside. If you like music and a lively ambiance, this is the place to be.

the food is pretty good - though the chicharones had what seemed to be bone pieces that almost chipped my teeth so i had to stop eating them.the service was great.the music volume was the problem. the band playing was actually really good but i couldn't get past the pain in my ears, nor the fact that I couldn't hear my dinner guests when they were yelling instead of talking. yelling. couldn't hear them. I tried to get a pic of the other guests plugging their ears, but it felt wrong to post a pic of someone without their knowledge or consent.nope.
Be the first to ReplyFood was good and the portions were good.
We had the cielito lindo molcajete and that was more then enough for 2 people. Margaritas were great with a good amount of alcohol. Only downfall is our waitress would leave us unattended for too long. I love going on Fridays to see Carlosycharlos

Came here for my birthday with some girlfriends and loved the vibe of this restaurant the moment we walked in. From the wall of the aesthetically organized tequila to the murals all over the walls, and the live performances, this place definitely delivers an amazing dining experience. The food was tasty, a little pricier than I anticipated and felt that it was interesting that chips and salsa needed to be ordered, as in nothing is complimentary. Bummer. My favorite about this place was the variety they offered in salsa, mole and even the drinks. I hope to come back soon and try more than the chicken mole negro I ordered.

I lived in Old Torrance for 15 years, when this place opened I was excited but when I tried the food I was disappointed, but being who I am I gave it a second chance, then gave it a third chance and so on, and ended up still being let down. The mole negro isn't good at all, the carnitas is dry, the chicken is bland, the soda's are always flat. I try a different dish the times that I have been and I get the same results, disappointment. Not sure if the chef needs to change the recipe or maybe it's the poor quality of food they are buying. Lastly the staff can be more attentive, but that's a different story, don't want to beat a dead horse.
Be the first to ReplyService was fast and good.
We did have reservations so that also made it easier. We went in Thursday, and it was crowded. They have a bolero group playing that was great! The food was really tasty. We had the nopales salad appetizer which was delicious. The green sauce and ribs I think it was and the borrego. Both where really tasty. The salsas are really good too, they taste authentic.
Be the first to ReplyArrived for a reservation on valentines day with my partner
Arrived for a reservation on valentines day with my partner but apparently they had a mix up and wanted to sit us at the bar stools ? Before we were able to leave they figured something out and sat us at a proper table but with the condition that we ate and left in 30 minutes before the other reservation arrived. A little bit of an annoying service. Had some very good appetizers but the Molé I received was just disappointing. The chicken was so dry it dehydrated every ounce of saliva in my mouth and the molé was a weird watery, runny, strange tasting mess. Cant forget the side of cold rice that didnt make it on time to be microwaved. Other then that the ambiance and vibes of the place are nice, its a cool place to just have a drink and talk with friends, just wouldnt come for the food again.
Be the first to ReplyThe mole enchiladas are tasty with lots of sauce.
Restaurant seemed short staff for the amount of tables with diners when I was there for lunch on a Wednesday, Feb 15th at 11:45 AM. Slow service. We were not in a hurry but it took awhile for us to have a server take our order and then for the food to come to our table.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food.
Nice happy hour and excellent service. The elote is excellent and the margaritas are top notch. Definitely will be back.
