As the name suggests, this intriguing, and already highly popular spot, provides hybrid dishes from French/European and Japanese ingredients and styles. Combining that with a small plates presentation, super-friendly service, and surprising low prices (nothing on the menu, including drinks, is priced higher than $9), it's no wonder that Maison Yaki will likely continue to excel in much the same vein as its sister restaurant across the street, Olmsted.
I have one small complaint. All portions, including the drinks, are on the small side. The photos on the restaurant's website typically show what are actually double orders of the various dishes. That's misleading, although likely unintentionally so on their part. But ultimately, you get what you pay for, and this is still quite a bargain for a gourmet quality meal.
My wife and I especially enjoyed the Cauliflower Okinomiyake and Hazlelnut, Pommes Dauphine, and Scallops and Sauce Maltaise. I also highly recommend getting an order, or two, of the Baguette with Yukuosho Butter to help savor every last bit of the various delicious sauces.
