Our curtain call was at 7pm. As we entered the theatre we were met & welcomed with a friendly smile. We sat in the lounge and ordered 2 x glasses of English Sparkling Wine. We were offered Celeriac & Lemon Tea which was more like a soothing cup of soup than a tea very delicious. Next came Hors d'oeuvres of Grilled Carrot also Duck liver with Hazlenut, Parsley and Juniper. We were then moved to our table via a visit to the pass where the creative team is working away preparing for their time in the spotlight. An appetizer of Ceps Artichoke and Pilsner is enjoyed before continuing on to our table which is set facing the stage. Each course (act) thereafter arrives with both theatre and grace. Louet-Feisser Oyster, Cured Mackerel and Onion Flowers, Scottish Langoustine Tail, Devonshire Blue Mussels. All delivered by the individual creators who explain the delicacy and technical intricacies of each complex course. After the seafood comes Vegetables & Meat courses including Potato, Beef Carpaccio, Cumbrian Chicken but not as we know it. It is Dehydrated, Aerated, Acidulated to mention just a few. For the final curtain we are offered Salted Butter Ice Cream with Honey and Woodruff absolutely delicious. Only one dessert course was a small disappointment but by then I was feeling rather full anyway. on the whole a truly enjoyable experience. The total bill for 2 x persons after adding 2 x glasses of bubbly, 1 x bottle of Fiano and 2 x coffees came to £475.00. An expensive meal ticket it has to be said. The service for the whole evening was exemplary. So is it worth it? Its not for me to say more for you to contemplate if you want to take the seat.
