Be the first to ReplyAn anthology of home in the center of Madrid!
You enter this little place, and it's immediately home! The welcome, the warm flavor of your home cooking, the customers you see around you who, in addition to having breakfast, always converse in calm, cautious tones, like when you are in your kitchen and as soon as you wake up you greet those who live with you. The food is excellent, we had breakfast two mornings in a row, and we ranged from the classic croissant with Nutella, to yogurt with berries and dried fruit... even the classic bread with tomato and avocado toast... scary!! ! Super highly recommended. Close to the train station and the Reina Sofia and El Prado museums in a small street that is difficult to pass by... it has to be looked for but I assure you that it is half worth the search!
Be the first to ReplyGood place for breakfast
We had breakfast like kings. Lots of variety in both sweet and savory and very attentive and fast service. I would return without hesitation
Be the first to ReplyOptimal
It's not the first time I've come to this place in Madrid where you can enjoy an excellent breakfast in a naïve environment, delicious desserts but above all the manager is uniquely friendly and courteous.
Be the first to ReplyVery overrated, the place is very small, the food is subpar, the service is poor, there are much better places with
The place is poorly decorated, the service is very poor as it already has a client base and no longer wants to improve itself, the wine is very bad, the food is standard, nothing that you can remember, I think that in any market you can eat better
Be the first to ReplyGood treatment, excellent food
Well, the opinion that the waiter is more polite. The person who makes it has had to go to another restaurant because we have been to Matilde several times since Barcelona, friendliness, education and good food at its finest.
Be the first to ReplyMatilda you are legendary
Matilda is a very welcoming place where you can find homemade cakes, very kind service and good coffee. The breakfast menu is typical Madrid with savory alternatives as per tradition. Inside the venue you can purchase objects and prints that are used as furnishings. A place from times gone by where you feel pampered. Average price for a breakfast for two 15 euros. I would stay here again.
Be the first to ReplyIt's worth visiting
Very nice place alternative with nice atmosphere and aura very helpful waiter nice music nice food lunch
Be the first to ReplyThey treat you with the foot
The waiter was very rude, every time he spoke to us he did so in an unpleasant manner, so breakfast makes you feel bad and on top of that you are paying to have them turn you green. Don't go, there are many charming places in Madrid
Be the first to ReplyBreakfast and coffee
Nice family owned place. No english spoken, but we communicated well. Good coffee and sandwich with mixto jamon and tostasa con embutido!
Be the first to ReplyTerrible food. Were cheated on the receipt, as we have ordered 1 full course and 2 soups, were charged 2 full and 1/2.
Server recommended a full course for 16 euro. per person. We ordered 1 full course for our son and 2 soups for us. Soup of the day was Tomato soup. Apparently it is served cold. We were ok with that but the taste was awful to the point we could not finish a spoon of it. My son's second dish was a sliced bologna sprayed with olive oil, Bologna was too sweet and did not taste good. Reviews were high and that was the reason we went to this place. Unfortunately, our son got severe stomach ache in an hour after having a couple spoons of soup and few pieces of bologna. When that middle aged gentlemen that waited our table asked us how was the food, as he saw that all of it was almost untouched we replied that it was terrible. He acted as surprised. Please hire a better cook, and good luck.
Be the first to ReplyLovely little cafe. Arrive early
Lovely little cafe for breakfast. We had to wait to get a table but it was worth it. Highly recommended. Opens at 8 so get there on time or you will have to queue.
Be the first to Reply"Home cooked" Spanish meals in friendly neighborhood cafe
Sweetie and I enjoyed several wonderful meals at Matilda which was a highlight of our trip to Madrid. Fernando and Alex create a warm friendly atmosphere that is popular for locals and tourists alike. The cafe is tiny and the decor combines with a vintage collection with items for sale. The two main menu choices are Breakfast and Menu del Dia. (closed for dinner) For EUR16 we received a choice of starter, main, desert and wine or coffee. We found this to be a good value compared to other locations we tried. If you are looking for a great place to try Menu del Dia in Madrid, this is your place to receive authentic Spanish food with friendly service, good wine and coffee. Child friendly. We hope to be back soon.
