Maya Charleston Reviews
The food is good, verging on very good.
It's a pretty space, but so acoustically live it's difficult to hear the person next to you. We sat at the bar. Service was friendly, but not attentive. So, mixed bag. And I note from google that Maya is now permanently closed, so this is a
Food,service and ambiance was wonderful.
We got there early before a show and before the restaurant got busy. By time we were finished eating the place was packed. We will be back!

Made a last-minute reservation at Maya before a show at Charleston Music Hall. Very chill ambiance on the back patio, and we had an excellent server. We started with the trio dip. The guac was good, salsa was lime heavy, and the queso was just not
Had happy hour in the bar area.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the food. I was planning on not liking it, but it really was lovely and oddly authentic. Great drinks, cool vibe...definitely going back. A tad pricey, but...it's on King St
Such a great date night spot.
Our waitress was super helpful with any questions we had and even helped us decide which drinks would be best. The food portions are very generous. We ordered the Maya bowl which feed two people. Also the trio dip for an appetizer was delicious as we

A group of us had made a reservation for eight diners.
The service was very good, friendly, and timely. My friends found the food delicious, seasoned well, and filling. I had the beef empanadas that was different from ones normally found in bakeries and the supermarkets. Not sure if that's a good

SO GOOD! Made a last minute reservation here with my friends and we all enjoyed our food -- with one exception, my friend's Birria tacos were too salty, but they were happy to bring out a new entree for her. I ordered the Chicken Crunchwrap whic
We sat at the bar.
They are quite impatient. They were nice but consistently rushed us, damping the experience. The food was incredible. A+
Delicious Mexican Food
We ate delicious tacos and the service was excellent. The tortilla chips with the guacamole, salsa and cheese dips as appetizers were also delicious. The restaurant also has a charming vibe.

A Very Good Restaurant With One Large Failing
We had dinner in the outdoor area at Maya. The food was excellent, and the service top-notch, but there was one large failing. The music was far too loud, and this applied to the whole restaurant, both the indoor areas and the outdoor area where we h
Cute, upscale Mexican restaurant serving delicious food.
Plants all around, bright colors, and candle lighting provide for a calm atmosphere. Our server was friendly offering suggestions on the menu. Great spot to check out!
If I could give this restaurant six stars, I would.
We happened to walk in and were shocked at how delicious the food was and how exceptional the service was. It was two of my friends birthday and the staff went above and beyond to celebrate them. We got a round of complimentary shots, complimentary d

Maya Mexican Restaurant, a hit and a miss
Took my daughter here while visiting Charleston for her 50th birthday. We started off with the appetizer trio (queso, salsa and guacamole) along with chips. They were each very tasty and went well with the delicious margarita. Its when we ordered

I thought the service was great, particularly the bar tender. He deserves 5 stars, we asked a ton of questions and he was so patient, and nice in-spite of being busy on a Friday night. He overheard me saying that I didn't care for the wine I ordered
Very good food.
The skillet queso was delicious!!! Very cute ambiance and service was good. The server and manager were accommodating when there was some confusion with orders. Drinks were good also. Very reasonable prices overall
Worst Mexican food I have ever had.
Go to Azul 1/2 the price and so much better. The guacamole was terrible. Salsa was good. Service was great. None of the food was anything like we expected. Nasty.
An unknown gem in Charleston!! Ceviche is a must try! Chips
An unknown gem in Charleston!! Ceviche is a must try! Chips are served warm, don't see that too often. Same with the Guac and chips. Bartender, from Long Island (never got his name) was great. Atmosphere was cool, very chill and not pretentious. Ove

We made reservations at Maya for a date night with our friends! We loved the food. My husband got the crunch wrap which is HUGE! Neither of us were expecting that! He said it was fantastic! I had the Tacos Al Pastor, love there is many options for GF
Great find! Great food, atmosphere and service!
Great drinks, service and food! This was a great find! We stumbled across Maya and loved everything about it. Reasonably priced, great atmosphere!
Overpriced for what you get
Overpriced for the quality of food that you get. We went during happy hour and ordered the quest and chips for an appetizer. The chips seemed to be homemade- corn tortillas cut and fried. But they were overcooked and over seasoned- tasted like Fritos
Amazing and celiac friendly
Food was amazing. Plenty of gluten free options including desserts. Staff was friendly and helpful. Had a wonderful time!!
Good Different Mexican!
The queso and guac was excellent as well as the margi’s and The Burn the Ships! We all ordered Crunchwrap Supreme. All were very good!!! The service was a little slow so we ordered food and drinks at the same time.
Excellent food and superior service.
I was pleasantly surprised with the patio seating. It felt like I was transported to another place. I would recommend outdoor seating vs indoor. Our server was amazing! Her face lit up when talking about her heritage dishes like the Chilaquiles (wh

Vastly Overrated
We were only in town for 2 nights and had time to go out for just one, so I chose Maya after reading so many great reviews. However, Maya disappointed. Generally the food is not bad, but I had some issues with a few things. First, they didn’t ask m
Amazing Gluten-Free Food
We cannot say enough good things about our experience at Maya. Our waitress was so kind and helpful, the chips and salsa were delicious, and the spicy margarita was out of this world (I had two!) We came to Maya on our honeymoon specifically because

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Maya Charleston at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Maya Charleston page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* FluffyStar64, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* FluffyStar64 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FluffyStar64 for any questions Peter may have as FluffyStar64 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* FluffyStar64 now uses their connections at Maya Charleston to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FluffyStar64 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, FluffyStar64 receives the $200 reward which is credited to FluffyStar64's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Maya Charleston!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
