Great for a special occasion or anytime!
We chose this for our last night at the resort and it was a great choice. Firstly though come here with the right expectations. It is not cheap but what you get is not just a dinner but an evening of experiences. The welcome and formality of the greeting was special. The room is big and the tables well spaced out. You enjoy an aperitif in the lounge area where you also choose your meal from the menu and then escorted into the dining room. Each staff member is gracious and very friendly. The food is served in a very professional and uniform way, the training here is obviously taken very seriously. Each course is described in full and presented as a work of art. Even the bread is an event and explained in great detail. The food was without exception perfect. All served with class and just the right amount of personality and smiles. Do not miss the desserts which are also a theatrical event (apple tart was unique and very tasty). A fantastic memorable evening at MB should be the highlight of everyone's stay at the RITZ CARLTON Abama

Restaurant at Ritz Carlton. The entire experience was just amazing, from service to taste. The menu items are well chosen to give you a taste of everything. With every item we were taken on a voyage of surprise in taste. It is impossible to say what part of the menu was best tasting, it was all excellent. Bravo to the chef and to the team at the restaurant. The Michelin stars are well deserved.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Food and Service
We did not expect to see a Michelin 2 Stars restaurant in Tenerife, and indeed it was a very pleasant surprise for my friends and I. Booking was difficult, and we were lucky enough to get a table for 4 near the swimming pool (please book in advanced... best is to book when you book the rooms). Weather was a bit hot, but sitting near the swimming pool awarded us with a lovely evening breeze. We had the tasting menu and it was very innovational and taste excellent. My compliment to the chef and his team for suce wonder experience we had. The wine pairing was great, especially with some introduction of local wines. Exceptional experience. We also have to especially thank Dennis and Bryant for their pampering for the whole night... in fact, thank you, MB TEAM!

We had an evening of exquisite food in beautiful surroundings, a real experience of a lifetime. We treated ourselves to the Great Tasting Menu with matching wine pairings and it was just magical. As well as the food, there was great theatre with the presentation and delivery. It’s very expensive of course, but it’s as good as you can buy and in years to come we won’t remember the bill, only a wonderful family evening. Thank you to the M.B. team for a true holiday highlight.

Well we were there for several times. Before pandemic times - it was really good restaurant but after uff. Now I fill that it is only a good memory from past - sorry guys - You need to improve according food and service.
Be the first to ReplyExtremely disappointing Out of 7 tasting menu courses there was only 1 that could be described as Michelin standard
1st course no clear flavour 2nd course really pleasant salad but not extra expected of a Michelin 3rd course bland - needed seasoning 4th course Excellent 5th Awful tasteless 6th course ok 7th like my granny cooks Wine great throughout 800 Euros for 2 🙄😳😡 I can’t believe this place has 2 Michelin stars …. Do they ever visit?
Be the first to ReplyVery good but disappointed
Overall a very enjoyable evening. Service and food were exceptional despite the very fast service which we asked to be slowed down so that we could enjoy our wine before having the next glass lined up for the following course. However, we were very surprised in the end for surcharges applied to our bill for bread service and cheese cart. We ordered the Grand 9 course tasting menu with wine pairing, a total of 530.00 per person. When the bread cart came around, we assumed this was part of our service. Same for the beautiful cheese cart. I am not a bread eater. Especially when I know that 9 courses are coming my way, but there was a beautiful banana bread that I thought I would try. Same for the cheese.

We were quite fortunate to be able to have reservations for 3 Michelin rated restaurants in Tenerife. I’ve only eaten at 1 other 2 star Michelin restaurant and knew what to expect with such high accolades. This place was a total let down. From the staff, to the ambiance to the food ….all fell short. We did the big tasting menu with wine pairing. Came to about 400pp. Upon arrival, they bring you to a room with nothing to look at for a glass of champagne and some “apertivo”. Had to ask for a napkin for my lap after being handed a small 3x3 square of fabric. If it were just a cracker, it would have been fine but the chance of dropping some of what was a 2 bite apertivo with cream and caviar was pretty high. After our bites and champagne, we were brought to a larger room. Think hospital surgery room combined with a wedding venue. WAY too bright and too sterile. Again nothing to look at. We were facing the kitchen doors. Our server came over to explain what was next followed by the sommelier. My husband and I couldn’t understand the English of either one of them, so we asked for a list of what was to be served. We receive a menu with ink streaks all over it. Not a big deal. We were served a pallet cleanser and were told to eat it asap. Unfortunately the shaved ice stuck to the inside of my bowl and I was unable to do so. The sommelier served me 2 glasses of wine with cork floating in the glass (didn’t expect it when I had to fish it out of my mouth). I did see that she was using a Coravin so I’m not even sure how this happened. At one point, one of the people serving plates went to the wrong table. Our server made clicking sounds with her mouth in order to get the guys attention and direct him to the correct table. These were the same clicking sounds you make when you say “giddy up” and start riding a horse. I found them to be so unprofessional. The food. … meh. Some things were ok but for the most part, many missed the mark…. and although these were small bites, the food wasn’t good enough to finish each plate. The best thing was the calamari spaghetti. The worst, the “marinated” shrimp with the fake olive. The shrimp tasted just like a raw shrimp. Thank goodness this wasn’t a typical 3 hour tasting menu. When we were done, they whisked us off to that same room, looking at nothing, for dessert. We were first served a slice of mango with some sort of stuff on it. It might have been the most awful thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. In the end, it was many bells and whistles, props, bad service and bad food. The best Michelin rated restaurant on the island is El Rincon De Juan Carlos followed by NUB.
Be the first to ReplyStunning food, service a little rushed at times
Superb food and the staff made us feel special at the end of the night by producing a little cake for my husbands birthday. The courses were sensational, we opted for the 10 course, there were times where I picked up my bread or my wine and the staff wanted to clear the plates to move onto the next course, the table next to us requested that he be left alone as he was rushed, and I don’t blame him as he had the wine pairing so was spending over £2000 for a table of 4. We were out in 2.5 hours from start to finish, so although it sounds a long time, we were never sat around for more than 10 minutes without something being brought over or cleared. It was a nice touch when Martin came out to meet everyone at the end of service. I can’t fault the servers or the food in any way. This restaurant is a credit to Ritz Carlton
Be the first to ReplyShortcomings both in terms of food and service (the unannounced outdoors seating)
Giving MB 2 stars. It generally it could have been a good evening.
We arrived at the restaurant and were seated in the aperitif area. Aperitifs were nice. They started with a warm take on a whiskey sour which was delicious. The alternative for my wife who does not drink whiskey was not very good though. It was a frozen strawberry (nitrogen frozen but basically a frozen strawberry). That is not good enough for 2 Michelin stars.
After aperitif we were accompanied to our table which was unfortunately outside. We were not told we were going to be seated outside when we booked. The evening was not warm (late January) and hence initially we were quite cold. We did raise this but were told the restaurant was fully booked and they couldn’t do anything. There were heaters and after some time it got quite hot on one side and chilly on the other side. They did apologise and offered the miniardise that went along with our infusions. Admittedly, that was a fairly easy (cheap) choice of making good on not having informed us/been able to accommodate indoor seating. We were at the table at 9:30pm on a Saturday (our last evening ) so didn’t really have any other choice than to stay.
We went for the a la carte menu.
The bread and various types of butter were good, the starters were excellent. My wife had the shellfish salad and I had the duo of calamari; can warmly recommend that. For main we both had the sole which was recommended to us over the hake when we asked what was more original to the restaurant by the restaurant manager I believe it was.
Both my wife and I were disappointed. The plate came with 2-3 sauces on the side of 4 pieces of fish. We did not find the dish being very refined or tasty at the least. It was relatively bland and there was nothing to break through the thick buttery taste. It was not a very enjoyable dish.
All in all we were disappointed by some of the food and the incident with the outdoors table. The miniardise were by far the cheapest we had ordered and of course this was offered to us as an apology.
I doubt that the restaurant would get 2 stars if it was either in London or Paris. We were surprised it got stars at all.
There are much better options; we throughly enjoyed Kabuki the night before, and liked both Txoko and el Mirador.
Our recommendation is to skip MB and go for the less hyped but excellent other options the Ritz Carlton Abama has to offer. The view of the el Mirador is breathtaking, and the Kabuki is an excellent Spanish fusioned take on a Japanese sushi restaurant.
The Txoko’s hearty Basque country inspired dishes are extremely tasteful.
Disapointing
We stayed in the Abama because we like the Golf course so much and looked forward to have Dinner with friends who live half the year in Adeje. We liked all the appetisers, but they charged 50! € for one glass of champagne Pol Roger. All of us had the tuna tartar which was very salted. The sommelier did a great job and let us try several white wines, for red wine we had an excellent Valbueno 2005, this was the best of the evening. For Main course we had sole and 10 Hours cooked veal, The veal was eatable but the sole seamed to be old and was dry, The Sole was accompanied by many sauces but not one of them was delicious. We only ate half of it and could Not believe that M.B.serves a fish like this. We were very disappointed and told this the staff. They offered us something different. They all were very kind. We will Not Return to the M,B. We apologized to our friends we had invited because we could not remember having had such a bad fish.

On the whole a lovely meal. Being a two star your expectations are raised and there were a couple of dishes which were a little under whelming.
The eel/foie, tartare, egg yolk with liquid herb and apple tart were our favourite courses. The sole was a little bland with the crisp element going soft very quickly. The beef was good but needed more on the plate, maybe a potato dish of some sort. Bit disappointing not to receive any petit four after spending a fair amount on dinner. Still a lovely place for dinner in Tenerife.
Deserves the Michelin stars, but way overpriced
The M.B. is clearly a Michelin star experience and probably serves the best food you can find on Tenerife. Service is impeccable and the dining experience perfect.
However, I do not feel that the prices charged are appropriate, even though I realize that Tenerife is a holiday destination and this restaurant is located at the Ritz.
What I find particularly inappropriate at all of Martin Berasategui's restaurants are the blunt attempts to upsell additional food items for an already overly high-priced menu. If you want all courses on the menu, you'll have to pay extra for the ravioli dish. If you want truffles on your dish, waiters will ask you while serving you the dish if you'd like to pay extra for that. If you want the petits-carrés at the end of the meal, you pay extra.
From a behavioral economics standpoint, bringing up the pricing and trying to upsell during the gastronomic experience completely ruins the mood, and upselling should therefore not be done: if I pay extra, I feel a sense of loss because I just overspent even more than to begin with. If I don't pay extra, I also feel a sense of loss, because I am missing out on an extra dish. Both cases have a net loss effect for the customer, so I am puzzled why Martin does this at every one of his restaurants.
But again: the cuisine and food itself absolutely deserves the Michelin star rating.
Worldclass experience
It was absolutely amazing. We experienced an incredible atmosphere.
The food was excellent. Well presented in all possible ways. We will be happy to return there more times.
An unforgettable experience.
No
Not a two star restaurant at all and for this price one should expect so much more. We even hade to send the meat out since it was way over cooked! Left feeling disappointed.
