This is a venue with a panoramic view 360 degrees of Seattle. The food has a middle eastern vibe and was delicious. It was also expensive, and the portions are small. There is a tasting menu so you can try small bites. We ordered mashawi - an assortment of kebabs, grilled corn, marinated tomato salad, asparagus, Shirazi salad, olive mix, saffron rice, cucumber yogurt, harra. It cost $150 and was serves 3 -4 people we added a mezze platter for an extra 28. plus some pitas and extra kebabs. Everyone had a drink and the drinks were made by a talented bartender. The gratuity was added in. We paid about $70 per person. If I were to return, it would be for drinks outdoors on their spectacular patio.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Atmosphere, Food and Service at Mbar
We are from the Detroit area, which has the largest Middle Eastern Population outside the Middle East, and with our Middle Eastern Neighbors comes fantastic Middle Eastern Food, so we consider ourselves pretty knowledgeable about what constitutes great Middle Eastern Cuisine. Mbar makes the grade. It isn't what we would necessarily characterize as "authentic" or "traditional" Middle Eastern Fare, but it is interestingly and well-orchestrated variations of traditional Middle Eastern Dishes. Even the arrival at Mbar is special. There is a podium at the ground floor of the building, and guests are directed to a private elevator that takes them up to the rooftop restaurant. It is pricey (great Middle Eastern food in Dearborn, MI is quite inexpensive), but the food and atmosphere is outstanding and the views of Seattle are just beautiful! We recommend Mbar highly!

The food is very unique and delicious! There are not a lot of seating places so make sure to have a reservation, also make sure to ask for a table with a view because some tables have no view and are very uncomfortable))
Be the first to ReplyRude receptionist don’t waste your time !
No restaurant is worth being treated the way we were by the receptionist on the ground floor. Even though we arrived 10 minutes after they opened there was no space at the bar for us and if we didn’t have a reservation we couldn’t get a table at the restaurant. They weren’t nice about it,they were not courteous and I won’t come back.

This place is compete trash. The security guard tried to convince me he was gang affiliated and I should be concerned if I don't do as he says... This was all from asking if I could have a bigger table for my guest.

A great rooftop bar with perfect views of Lake Union, the Space Needle and downtown. A very busy place, NEED reservations, only walk-ins are available to sit at the bar (only 4 seats there). Luckily we walked right in when they opened at 4 and got to sit at the bar. Bartenders were very friendly and answered our questions about Seattle and other recommendations. A way better view and experience than Frolik. Was not able to get a reservation at The Nest Bar to compare, but was extremely happy with our experience at Mbar.

Mbar can sometimes feel a bit too elitest for my tastes, yet the food, service and views keep me coming back. My boyfriend and I, who had our first date at Mbar, recently returned for an anniversary dinner. While it was a bit chilly and windy, the views were great and the food was delicious. We had the green chickpea hummus, grilled halloumi cheese w/ spicy watermelon, a shrimp kabob, octopus 'shirazi' and a yummy bottle of rose.

After a packed schedule of three full days looking for a place to live in Seattle, dealing with astronomical prices for tiny apartments where builders/developers cut corners in the most obnoxious ways, we didn’t want to wander too far from our hotel perched on the southern edge of Lake Union. I found Mbar on Google maps and announced that I just needed a strong cocktail after the Packers were embarrassed by the 49ers. I just didn’t care if the food sucks and Mbar was absent from any list of the “best of Seattle.” Mbar was close and open Sunday night. South Lake Union is dead on a Sunday night, as the “button pushers” working for Amazon and Google gear up for a productive work week, staring at a screen and practicing retentive behavioral modification. The goal being a robotic work ethic, void of human frailty. Joseph Smith and Jeff Bezos have much in common. We walked ten minutes, finally finding a street level sign for Mbar. Perplexed, we took an elevator up to the top of some building, emerged at a dark, winding hallway, which opened up to maybe the coolest bar/restaurant in Seattle, with some of the most amazing views west of the Mississippi. Taking a seat at the inside bar, the city of Seattle twinkled charmingly beyond the windows. The view of the Space Needle was very cool. An eclectic crowd filled the dark, sexy room. We stumbled unknowingly into a destination restaurant. Who knew? Miles behind the bar, no relation to Davis, took great care of us. His menu suggestions were “right on,” and Miles mixology skills would score well in any chemistry class. It turned out, in one of those bizarre circumstances, Miles also bartends at Corvus and Company, another place we had a great time at Friday night. There are thousands of bars and restaurants in Seattle. In our three day trip to Seattle, we found the two places Miles works at. Karma can be a wonderful thing. The food at Mbar was great, unique and international. I started with an interesting pappardelle pasta, tasting very Mediterranean, with pine nuts and egg plant. It was deliciously fresh, pasta done perfectly al dente. The Mediterranean flavors at Mbar are spot on, and would tickle the tastebuds of healthy vegetarians with the many options. The grilled trout, with crispy skin providing a wonderful crunchiness, was the best I have tasted. I often order trout if I find this fish on a menu. Mbar’s version was memorable and will pass through my lips again. Desserts were simply marvelous. Mbar provided my best meal in Seattle. Serendipities for sure, and research be damned. Mbar is a destination bar, especially in the summer, with its rooftop bar overlooking the city and Lake Union. However, the kitchen is turning out superlative food, and Mbar deserves recognition for its culinary artistry. Once we move and are comfortably settled in Seattle, Mbar will be one of our local regular stops. Karma is a beauty.
Be the first to Replyhorrible experience with unprofessional manager Mr. Zimmerman
I love mbar - good food/drinks/decor and usually great service..... but I had a very disappointing new year's eve there this year. After paying $95/person which included admission, apps (not pass around but at a small station) and a champagne toast (not a cheap fee with no drinks included outside of the toast and no seating), the night ended with NO count down and NO champagne toast, and the bar closed at 12:30. This was disappointing! We didn't even know it turned midnight! My husband was voicing his annoyance about this with the manager Eric Zimmerman when I heard the manager yelling at him. I went over to see what was happening and the manager said my husband told him "Do you know who I am?" as part of his complaint and request for another drink, which clearly made the manager very angry. My husband was trying to say that he did not say that and I asked if maybe he was misheard, but Mr. Zimmerman kept yelling and was adamant and went so far as to say that maybe I didn't know who my husband was and that I should question my marriage. When I asked for the owner's information because of Mr. Zimmerman's refusal to stop yelling and his rudeness, he kept trying to discuss what he believed my husband said and I calmly asked him to stop and to just provide me with the information - which he refused and then instructed me to leave the property. Mr. Zimmerman's demeanor and response was shocking and not in anyway an appropriate way to address what he thought happened and what he thought my husband said (which was misunderstood/misheard by him), and his treatment of me personally and comments about my personal life were appalling. I have never been treated with so much disrespect at a restaurant and will certainly not go back to mbar unless management changes. I was sad to have had this experience at a place I've enjoyed going to for many years and think it's important for people to support local places who treat their customers well. Hopefully he treats the people who work there with more respect, definitely concerning behavior from an HR and risk management standpoint.
Be the first to ReplyWe came for New Years 2019-2020.
We came for New Years 2019-2020. We had to wait 40 minutes for our table. The menu was a set 4 course dinner and it took about 30 to 40 minutes in between dishes. One of the dishes came in the wrong order. Very disappointed! A lot of people around us were frustrated with the wait for a table. Do not go there for a special event! They don’t know how to accommodate large groups of people. The food was just ok. Not worth the money!
Be the first to ReplyGreat appetizers, mixed mains, clumsy reservations
I went with a group of six, and we couldn't get reservations on the deck. When we got there, there was plenty of open space on the uncovered deck, so we sat out there (although there weren't enough space heaters to go around). There is a different menu for inside and outside. We moved inside for dinner because it was too cold. The appetizers and drinks on the deck were very good (albeit expensive). I recommend both the cheese and the hummus. Dinner was an eclectic and intriguing menu that didn't always deliver. The mujaddara was disappointing (and covered in cilantro). Some of us liked the cheesecake, some didn't. Service was quirky but fun. On a Friday night, our group of late 40s and early 50s had at least 15 years on the rest of the crowd, some of whom got a little drunk and noisy. The space is big, though, and it wasn't really an issue. A fun place with its own style and some daring choices. Vegetarian friendly.
