Average at its best
Dined here on a Sunday afternoon the place was busy and service was good, however the food was average at its best, quiet expensive and I would not return the meal just didn’t have the wow factor.
Be the first to ReplyA nice place to eat
Kelly was a superb server. Our lunch was really tasty. I really liked the clam chowder. Nice ambiance.
Be the first to ReplyGood Value Meal in NW DC
While my wife and I thought that our food was just OK for a Thursday dinner, the service was excellent. Molly gets kudos for her attentive, helpful service. For the location and dinner hour, we were pleasantly surprised.
Be the first to ReplyNice lively dining indoor or outdoors with varied menu
Our family party of 7 enjoyed dinner on a weeknight at which we ordered appetizers and lots of different dishes including seafood and Mexican. The service was snappy and we lingered a while after paying and were not pressured to free up the table. The noise level is loud for any hard of hearing. The prices were quite high, which is the trend in this Covid era of inflation. Food quality varied.
Be the first to ReplyNever for dinner again…
Good restaurant (excellent weekend brunch!) delightful waiter but the screamingly loud volume at dinner may have been the absolute loudest anywhere. I imagine the actual decibel level was actually unhealthy! Ridiculous.
Be the first to Reply5 stars for food, 1 for hostesses who didn’t cover nose with mask.
Nice, fresh, interesting, healthy food and nice atmosphere. We went for Sunday lunch and sat inside but near open window for ventilation. The only problem was that there was one hostess who had the mask below her nose the entire time and sometimes even her mouth wasn’t covered. She didn’t even pretend to pull it up. A second hostess had her mask below the nose half the time. Not once did a manager or colleague remind them how to wear a mask. A third hostess was professional and friendly and was able to wear her mask properly the entire time—and thus showed respect to customers and colleagues. Waiter at bar area did the same.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Outdoor Service
We met good friends we hadn't seen since Covid for a late lunch at Millie's. The outdoor tables each have umbrellas and on a comfortable Fall afternoon the atmosphere was festive. Service was wonderful and spirited. The salads and tuna poke we got were fresh and terrific. I'd never known of this place, but glad our friends recommended it!
Be the first to ReplyGood food, rushed service
All members of our group enjoyed their food, which was fresh and nicely presented. Two main criticisms: (i) hot entrees were brought 1 minute after the appetisers arrived - very poor coordination/communication by service staff and (ii) there was hardly anything on the menu for vegetarians or vegans.
Be the first to ReplyGreat brunch near American
Great brunch near American University on a Saturday.. Biscuits done right in full on souther traditions. A must as a starter for the table if eating brunch or lunch. Quesadillas and shrimp po boy spot on with traditions of both. Old school traditional cooking in summary. Looking forward to the next visit.
Be the first to ReplyHealthy portions and delicious Baja California dishes
We had lunch recently at Millie's, in the Spring Valley neighborhood of NW Washington. The food was fresh, delicious, and light. The portions were generous, the service was very good, and the atmosphere was trendy.
The West End Bloody Mary and Empire State dry Riesling we had for drinks were very good. I ordered the excellent Grilled Shishito Peppers with a sesame soy glaze as an appetizer, and the bowl would have been enough for a meal. Luckily, my wife was willing to help me. The Great Point Salad (with grilled shrimp, greens, mango, bean sprouts, savoy cabbage and Thai sweet chili lime vinaigrette) was very large, but delicious. My wife loved her Eel Point Tacos (seared rare tuna, wasabi cream, sweet soy glaze, and sesame lime salad).
Given the size of the portions, I was surprised I finished my plates. The food was just too good and surprisingly light. Neither one of us felt drowsy during the lecture we attended right after lunch!
A lively and attractive Bib Gourmand for 2020.
Millie's offers very good food but at a relatively high price point. The restaurant has a great menu and there are many attractive seating areas, including outdoor seating. It is a lively place, welcoming of all kinds of groups coming and going. The noise level is relatively high. Parking can prove challenging in Spring Valley and there is no Metro station nearby. Ride share is a good option.

The staff was very friendly and willing to get anything that we wished. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The food was good.
Be the first to ReplyMother-Daughter quick dinner
I met my daughter here for a quick dinner after lots of errands. It was a delightful respite from a hectic week. We sat in a both, watched families with kids in soccer gear, couples on their way home from work and a bunch of ladies out for dinner. Everyone seemed comfortable and happy to be there. I had a huge "Lobb salad" - the lobster version of cobb. There was so much lobster, I left some to take home and eat for lunch the next day! It was a huge, great salad. My daughter enjoyed her crab cakes. We each had a glass of wine from their more than ample wine list. It was a hot evening, so we did not chose to sit outside, although many were enjoying the patio. Our server was good enough, did the job but with no personality and needed a few reminders. Loved the food.
Be the first to ReplyVery good food, but very noisy
We came to celebrate our son-in-law's birthday. The server was very good. Food was outstanding. Apps--potstickers, poke and nachos. Mains--lobster roll (×3), shrimp tacos, scallops and ahi tuna. VERY loud. And no dessert other than "fake" Gifford's ice cream outside.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent lunch
The food and service were excellent. My friend and I both found many good options for our lunch. It was a beautiful day and we were happy sitting outside was an option. This was beneficial since the music inside would have made conversation difficult. The only disappointment was the tables that were outside. Because they are designed to be folded up and put away at night, there were large bars that made sitting uncomfortable if you had more than a few people at a table clearly designed to hold six people. Maybe if everyone had short legs it wouldn’t be a problem.
