Miss Mi Melbourne Reviews from The Last Year
Wannabe restaurant
This is a wannabe restaurant. They host private events while they are open to guests. People taking selfies all the time and hired a camera man to take photos with flash with us in the background. Food is average for the price. Not worth it at all.
Great service and food
Coming home after a busy day we were enticed by great reviews of this restaurant! We were not disappointed! Food was absolutely delicious! Service was attentive and friendly! We certainly will be returning soon🤩
Flavorsome
Great food and service. We came on a weekday, restaurant was a bit quiet. Service was attentive and helpful. Menu selection was good.
Give Mi a huge Miss
Miss Mi does not provide a passable breakfast, if staying at the hotel dont bother adding breakfast to your cost, its just a waste eggs powdery and runny, mostly Asian cuisine, bread full of sugar! a filthy bowl of butter that everyone dips into at the toast station, under cooked bacon, no cereal and a pathetic small coffee machine serving luke warm drinks If I were you I would go elsewhere, very disappointing considering Movenpick around other locations have a breakfast service that rivels their competitors.
Excellent food and service
My husband and I dined here twice while staying at the Movenpick Hotel. (We ate there a second time as a result of the first meal being just so delicious!). Christian the Chef is unbelievable. His passion for delivering top notch food was evident is his ability to create amazing protein and vegetarian dishes. I’ve had meals cooked by a Michelin Star Chef before, and Christian’s dishes were even better. The flavors, textures and presentation were amazing. I’m a vegetarian and I’d say the Heirloom Tomatoes were the tastiest dish I’ve ever eaten. Hubby is a meat eater and he too was equally impressed with his choices. In addition to the food, the service is outstanding. Many thanks to Michael (Food and Beverage Manager) for making our evening and lunch special. In fact all the staff in the restaurant are just so professional and friendly. Will eat there again when we are next in Melbourne.
Felt like cheap Thai takeaway attire mixed with fine dining prices and fancy presentation
I dined there in January 2024 and this restaurant was recommended to me by a few people. Overall I was disappointed. I dont know if it was the night for it or the food I choice from the menu, but it was underwhelming with the cocktail I had. Maybe it was because all the flavours tasted very similar. I paid about $70 for dumplings, sashimi, one oyster and a martini cocktail. I am happy to pay for lovely food, but I ate at Lucy Lui the day before and paid a similar price and walked out of there loving everything moment. I didnt really enjoy much other than the oyster and martini. The thing though I was really disappointed with the most was, the dress code. On the Mövenpick Hotel website it says "DRESS CODE Smart casual". This is not specified on the restaurant's own website. The whole restaurant pretty much sat to a large family group table (6 adults and 6 kids, with 2 high chairs). Both mums wore daggy tracksuit bottoms, daggy t-shirts and sneakers. There was also one waiter also wearing a street branded t-shirt and white sneakers. I dont have a problem with this, except to say that if the restaurant is going to serve high end fine dining food with prices to match, along side a dress code "smart casual", meet those standards with the staff and maybe enforce them with the guests. Otherwise remove the dress code from the hotel's website as a first port of call, perhaps. To me it feels like Im eating in a cheap takeaway joint payment far too much money while wearing high heels, sipping cocktails and looking fancy like the food, and feeling flat and disappointed at the end with an empty wallet. The other thing was that the little kids were throwing chips on the floor. Again I don’t have a problem with this, if I was eating at a cheap takeaway joint, but I was not. I didn’t not expect this and I did not choose to eat a cheap takeaway joint. I also didn’t pay the prices you would expect either. There is a real disconnect here between what’s expected based on price, recommendations, attire descriptions and reality. Perhaps the restaurant is trying to be too many things right now, a fine dining restaurant and a hotel lobby bar selling bar snacks and catering to all including families. By the way I did speak to the waitress at the end of the meal. She did say she would look into it and agrees. I hope this is followed up. I am writing this though before I forget and because I wanted to voice my own experience.
Unexpected twist to Southeast Asian cuisine
I had the chance to go back to Melbourne since moving to a different state. Thought it’s also the best time to catch up with friends for an early Christmas celebration. Since I’m staying at Movenpick hotel, we thought of going to Miss Mi which a friend also recommended. I peeked through their menu which looks interesting and familiar at the same time - giving a different twist to Southeast Asian cuisines. They offer a ‘Choose Mi’ which is a set menu selected and prepared by the chef for groups of 6 people or more. We were also lucky to meet Chef Christian at the venue. They accommodate our preference to have only half of our group trying the chef menu, while the other half ordered for a la carte. They served Chili Crab & Prawn Dumplings, Pork Sisig, Spiced Fried Lamb Ribs, Crispy Pork Belly, Beef Rendang, their Catch of the day, and finished off with desserts Fried Sticky Rice and Mais con Yelo. Food is superb and uniquely delicious. I was happy with the chef’s selection, and the quality of the dish, the flavours and twists made on the cuisines were unexpectedly pleasing. Overall, we all enjoyed our food, the ambience and generosity of the chef and kitchen staff. The only downside was the inconsistent service from wait staff. Some of them were friendly and accommodating. However some lack consideration - had to put our group into 2 different tables just because half did not want to do the banquet. There were no other groups that time as we arrived before 6pm and it was mid-week. This dampen the mood a bit as we can’t even have a proper conversation and enjoy our meal together.
A surprisingly restaurant offerings amazing fusion food.
I was generally very surprised by how Movenpick's restaurant is an undercover gem. The food here was suberb and excellent. The surprising twist between Asian and Western cuisine offering a beautiful fusion mix of dishes. I can say one thing, the food here really surprised and I throughly enjoyed the food. Special mentioned to the Rendang and Kangaroo skewers. Hope more people find this place as it serves awesome food. Cheers
