Morning Glory San Diego Reviews from The Last Year

We went on a weekday and were seated in 10 minutes! The blueberry skillet was amazingly delicious! We also had the eggs Benedict which was yum! Coffees served in cute pink cups. Our server was very friendly and always checked on our table. Had a delish breakfast!
Favorite in San Diego.
The vibe, food and cocktails are TOP! The decorations and theme are so soooo trendy. It gets crowded, had to wait 40 minutes.
Went with my husband and 4 year old.
Good food quick seating. Very loud. Would not return with child. I didn't know until after we started eating but they play explicit music not suitable for children.
Great breakfast food, service was amazing.
Sat at the open air bar which had a nice view.

We showed up 10-15m before they opened and there was already a line forming outside. It moved quickly and we were seated after not too long of a wait. Amazing service. Cool decor. Perfect place for a boozy brunch. We ordered a Bloody Mary and espresso martini. The bloody came with a little side jar of pickles etc which was cool. The martini had some glittery sparkle in the foam which didn't come out in my picture but was fun. Both quite delicious. My hubby got birria tacos and I got the pasta. His tacos were great but I'm obsessed with the pasta dish. It was amazing. And we both added a side of bone marrow which was also delicious. They have a person come around with a dim sum type cart and we got a shot and a bun. The shot was great, the bun was just ok. The bathroom there is all mirrors it was trippy for sure. We saw other dishes being made/ walked by and everything looked super bomb. Next time we are in little Italy I'm totally going back for that pasta. I swear I dream about it lol.
Excellent service and great food presentation.
I visited twice. Each visit included prompt and courteous service. I ordered steak and eggs on the first visit. Chorizo omelette on the second visit. This restaurant is worth the wait. The decor adds to the great food and excellent service. Morning Glory is a hit.
Fantastic pancakes and fruit yogurt plate.
Should have ordered the bacon but we will next time. Coffee was too acidic but otherwise really good. Our waiter was the best!!

The food is great, atmosphere is fun, service could be better. We put our names down at 1:30 with a 2-hr wait. We waited and got seated around 3:15. Table was sticky and clearly hadn't been wiped down. We asked to wipe it, they did but still missed some spots. Ok, fine, we just finished wiping it ourselves. We ordered 3:20, we got our food, we were eating our food maybe 15 min, and the guy comes around asking if we want boxes. I almost started laughing. Can we eat first? We're literally still chewing. They were closing at 4 but if you're going to accept people at 3:15, at least give them time to eat. We politely accepted some boxes, but took those few min while he fetched them to finish up our food. Felt super rushed and uncomfortable. I would rather they stop accepting names at 1:30 than to wait, get in, then feel rushed out. Or maybe start accepting reservations, but I like this place overall, I hoping to see them become even better.
A bit mid to be honest.
It's very cute inside but is eating in a cute restaurant worth a 1.5 hour wait on a Monday morning? The food took a while to come and the staff were very strict and a bit unfriendly. It was very windy the top is open so our food got cold immediately, most of it was something I felt I could easily cook myself ,.. probably better. I think this place would be great if you were day drinking and predisposed to like it, but I've had much better brunch for much cheaper and in comparably cute places. Overall, I don't think I'd come back unless the wait was less than 10 min.

The birria tacos are delicious! The service on a busy morning was great as well they were very attentive.
Ambiance left a lot to be desired.
Got a table since it was close to the county government center and had just left a wedding, it was about a 20 minute wait, which wasn't bad. We were a party of 5 and got a very cramped table facing the bar. Or really why we picked this place since it's known for its beautiful views from the balcony. Service was ok, food took awhile but the drink arrived fast. I think that was the only saving grace. Drinks were very tasty, I'd recommend the passion fruit mimosa or the peach bellini. I'd recommend this place as the food was good but try to get a table near or in the balcony.
My friend took be out to celebrate my birthday.
She dropped me off so I could get our name on the list as she found parking. At 8:45 am on a Thursday morning the wait was 10 to 15 minute for a table. The food is very good. I heard from the waitress it was the Soufflés pancakes that gave them their Michelin star. So we had to get that! They are so good! The vibe is fun but a bit twisted. Beside the eyeball that looks at you, the wallpaper near the bathroom is full of cockroaches. This place is an event and I see why people come.
Very yummy, excessive wait time
A fantastic choice of items on their brunch menu and the best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had made this a really good place to visit. The wait for a table was excessive considering there were a large number of empty tables available, as well as seats at the bar. Feels a bit like creating a sense of demand that might not always be representative. The food was great. Chicken and waffles were good, as were the thick cut bacon sides! Would go here again, but could do without the 20 min wait in the rain (can’t blame the restaurant for the weather!)
Stars mainly for the staff!
We choose this place for a spontaneous family brunch. We arrived early, so we waited just around 20 minutes for a table. They gave us a table large enough for the baby and stroller. The service was generally nice and attentive. The restaurant however not really. The round sofa we were sitting on was not properly cleaned. And the food nothing special either. It is great though that they have vegan options and replace egg by tofu. I got a tofu scramble, which tasted ok. But there is certainly room for improvement when it comes to the presentation of the food. Overall an OK experience. Value for money more on the low side. Vegetarian and vegan friendly.
Unique Breakfast Destination!
When preparing for a trip to Italy we received the best travel advice that we can recall and we have tried to apply it on each subsequent travel adventure. When facing the daunting task of attempting to experience all that Florence has to offer, the advice we received was: “you don’t ‘do’ Florence.” The application is simple enough. Florence offers such an extraordinary collection of experiences that if you attempt to cram everything in during a single trip you’ll end up exhausted and more numb than truly appreciative of what you’ve seen and done. Better to pace yourself and plan return visits. Following up on the recommendation of @1ehernandez, we had similar feelings when reviewing the menu at this restaurant. Their menu offers such a complex collection of intriguing options that we immediately concluded that you don’t “do” Morning Glory in a single visit. Clearly additional visits are required in order to gain a fuller understanding of this unique breakfast destination and the irony was not lost on us that it is located within the Little Italy neighborhood of San Diego. One of the most creative (and slightly intimidating) menus that I’ve seen, both our Lobster Omelette and Chorizo Grande were just as satisfying as we had hoped and my coffee being poured from a Turkish pot elevated the quality of our experience even further. The dining room features an indoor/outdoor concept, so dress accordingly when visiting. During our visit it was 62 degrees and the sweaters we were wearing were appreciated. (Hey, for San Diego this is the dead of Winter and appropriate precautions must be taken to ensure one’s personal safety. 😉) While you’ll have ample opportunities to visit given that their doors stay open until 3:00 (4:00 on weekends), we’d recommend making a reservation because this place is popular and walk-in’s having to wait to be seated is not uncommon. And that’s…Henry’s Take. #breakfastinsandiego
Unique and delicious
The best brunch ever! We went early and only waited 15 minutes for a table for 2. The food was so unique and delicious and the service was excellent! We highly recommend the soufflé pancakes, creamy potatoes, and pasta carbonara.
SOUFFLÉ PANCAKES
This was one of the coolest places Iv ever seen in my life. Awesome looking restaurant. The food was fantastic. The soufflé pancakes are AMAZING. Do yourself a favor and get some.
Overhyped but still enjoyble
As the only Michelin Bib Gourmand breakfast joint in America Morning Glory has definitely earned its accolades, though for those interested in a peaceful Brunch the space known for two-hour waits and n-bomb laden music at high decibels may not be worth the effort. Owned by Consortium Holdings, a no reservations policy and central positioning in Little Italy creating a scene each day, it is after a line up stairs to put one’s name on the list that guests are free to wander until texted, the same staircase eventually yielding access to a second story space lined in pink and kitsch. Purporting “breakfast dim sum,” the cart barely ever moving through tightly-packed tables, diners are invited to select from a supersized menu full of odd fonts and globally inspired fare ranging Fried Rice to Japanese Pancakes and Georgian Boat Bread. A difficult decision for just two, Souffle Pancakes an obvious choice that compares favorably to those found in the San Gabriel Valley, it was at the bar that Quesabirria proved competent despite lacking the complexity of many while the Skillet Pancake is shareable by a family and loaded with good Ingredients.
Fabulous breakfast
Fabulous belated birthday celebration with my cousin and her boyfriend. 45 minute wait, Monday afternoon. Not bad we enjoyed walking around little Italy. Portia was our excellent server. Food was delicious!! Service and ambiance was outstanding!!
Egg burritos for all!
Egg burritos!!! Stopped in with a group in town on business. We had quite a few things from the menu, but when I ordered an egg burrito, it took top prize. My other item was an açaí bowl which was huge, and tasty. 👍🏻 We called in an order for seven burritos the next day, and the employee sounded to be in disbelief, but we had to have more! Great place with very prompt service.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
