Mother Tongue Restaurant Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
Super cute spot with a great brunch menu! The inside is
Super cute spot with a great brunch menu! The inside is clearly stunning, but the outside patio was really nice during the daytime also. The food was delicious and actually reasonably priced compared to most places. They have a great two course option for $39, filled with sweet and savory options to choose from. Service was great and I'd definitely recommend this spot.

Mother Tongue is described as comfort food, and it sure was! Everything we ordered was amazing and had unique flavors. The trio appetizer is delicious, but I felt that the portion could have been better. The fresh bread that is se4ved with it is very, very good. The open face egg rolls, apple salad, and short ribs were delicious. We enjoyed the octopus, seabass, steak and fries, and duck. The pannacotta and chickate cake hit the spot as our dessert. The staff is very friendly and the decorations are relaxing and you feel like you are on vacation. It is on the 4th floor, and if the weather permits, you can sit outside and enjoy the Los Angeles city view. You can also get the Hollywood sign, but there is a cement factory next door. It may ruin your pictures, or maybe it will enhance it? You choose.
Mother Tongue is truly exceptional.
From the atmosphere, to the food, to the staff. I was there with friends for my birthday and they delivered! As a vegan, I had the SHIITAKE MUSHROOM LARB. It was so flavorful and fresh. We all shared the selection of three dips and devoured it. They even came with a vegan soft serve (that was delicious) with a candle as a little birthday surprise. 10/10 - will absolutely be back and telling everyone about this special place.
One of the best places for date night in the city.
There is delicious food, friendly stuff, gorgeous design.
Sat on the rooftop ! Staff friendly .
The scenery is cool , chill , work vibes ! The sandwich I had was good . Overall I loved the flavors hummus beets delish ! I would have preferred it as a pita (closed) or in a wrap ! I might switch it out for your green wrap next time just so I can hold it versus eating it with a fork and knife ! Def would come back tho !
I am not exaggerating when I say that lunch at Mother
I am not exaggerating when I say that lunch at Mother Tongue surpassed our wildest expectations. Truly, if I could gave this place 10 stars, I would! Everything from the very friendly, efficient service to the wonderful atmosphere (just loved their decor, color scheme and relaxing background music) to the excellent food was outstanding! They made our wedding anniversary lunch really special! Recommend the delicious black kale salad and wild salmon bowl. Their yuzu pana cotta and soft serve sundae desserts are to die for!! Will definitely be back and highly recommend!
Mother tongue was definitely an interesting experience.
The entrance was hard to find. The elevator up to the restaurant is in the alleyway to the right, behind the gym. [Food 4/5]: I enjoyed the food and found it really unique. [Selection of all 3 spreads & flatbread 2/5]: I really liked the beet hummus and walnut muhammara. However, I didn't feel like it really stood out to me. And that we could've gone without it. [Shiitake mushroom larb 4/5]: I really liked this dish. It had a good balance of flavor and crisp from the lettuce and chip. The only con is that it is difficult to eat and can get messy. [Roasted Colorado lamb 4/5]: I really liked this dish the most and it is a standout. The lamb came in this tied white thin paper. I thought the presentation was interesting and when the waiter drops the dish off he unraveled the dish in from of us. I liked the condiments that came with this dish and found it really flavorful. [Ambiance 4/5]: The interior design of the restaurant is super cute and the bar area also gave classy vintage vibes. I like how the restaurant wasn't too dark. And the booths are super cute. It def is a cute date spot. I don't usually eat this type of food, because it is a bit adventurous for me. However, I would recommend others to at least try it once.
The service, view ambience and food were an A+! Rose all
The service, view ambience and food were an A+! Rose all day for $30 was a great option for Easter brunch with a DOC sparkling rose. I enjoyed the Shitake Mushroom larb, salmon Benedict and sweet potato hash. The crudo was also delicious.

Came by with friends a couple weeks ago and it was an amazing experience, host, servers and basically all staff were extremely nice and accommodating. Food and drinks were also great, I ordered the Steak and Eggs and we also got some smoked salmon w avocado toast and a couple other appetizers. Iced coffee was well made as well. Will be coming back!
Food was good and different.
Staff is very nice and helpful. Pricing and portions are as expected. Trendy and colorful vibes. Parking shouldn't the an issue. Not the type of place I would go back if I make the decision but would join a group that wants to try.
Went here to celebrate my friend's birthday on a Friday
Went here to celebrate my friend's birthday on a Friday night. It's busy but it doesn't feel crowded. The ambience is great for girls night out, it's definitely IG worthy. We love the attentiveness and the crew's attention to detail. They serve international food fushion. I loved the lumpiang sariwa with a twist. They did a great job on it! However, the sea bass and salmon on the fishermen menu are not into my liking. Getting there is a bit confusing, as the location says it's on La Brea but it's technically in the corner of La Brea and Romaine, the entrance is on the alley way at Romaine street behind the gym. You'll have to take an elevator to get there. The good thing is they have signage for you to follow, you will not get lost. Plenty of parking on the street. I am definitely coming back to try this place for brunch.
I forgot the server's name from this Saturday but I just
I forgot the server's name from this Saturday but I just wanted to give him a shoutout! He really took care of us. Long story short, our reservation was pushed to a later time due to a wedding reception and we were promised free bottle and appetizers. Our server was able to comp 2 bottles of rose, 2 appetizers, and 2 desserts. We were super grateful! The restaurant is on the 4th floor of the Heimat building; entrance is through the alleyway. When you see a big H, make sure to turn in and you will see an elevator that goes to Mother Tongue. Interior is so gorgeous and spacious--a perfect place to celebrate with friends! All the staff were attentive and they made sure our water cups are always full. Food--so good!! The lumpia is delicious; im definitely coming back for that. We also ordered the 3 spreads and mushroom larb to share, and they were just as good. My friends and I each ordered either the striped bass or the duck breast. They were tasty--lots of flavor and great presentation. Parking--we all found street parking and we came on a Sat night. A 10/10 place in my books
Ok so I give 4 stars but as far as location goes I give it
Ok so I give 4 stars but as far as location goes I give it 0. They make it very hard to get to this place no signage....valet signage also not well displayed... you have to go into a back alley. A girl and I trying to find our way both were asking others for directions and we're all dressed up in a back alley. No bueno.
Mother Tongue was a cute, cozy spot.
Come for the 4-6 social hour and stay for dinner. Good for sharing and big groups. The risoni was the best thing there and had the healthiest portions. Ratings: Ambiance: 8/10 Ease of seating/ speed of service: 5/10 (we had a. Res for a group of 14 and they had a hard time seating us when we got there) Vegan options: (not sure sorry) Gluten free options: 7/10 Low carb options: 10/10 Overall deliciousness: 10/10 Pricing: $$ Parking: garage downstairs Seating: very cute Liquor License: yes, amazing cocktails
Brunch here is great - definitely try the breakfast egg
Brunch here is great - definitely try the breakfast egg sandwich & overnight oats. They have a few great deals where you can get two meals for $38 (just make sure to do the math separately to see if it makes sense, since some of them would actually come out cheaper on a standalone basis). They also have bottomless rosè (flat or sparkling) & they keep them coming. The ambiance is really nice, especially on a warm, sunny day. Been here for dinner as well, but not too memorable. Would stick with brunch.
Menu was limited and overall too complicated.
I know Michael Mina is solid chef but the location and atmosphere isn't matching the menu.
Came here for brunch on a Sunday without reservations.
They were able to accommodate us and there were surprisingly lots of empty tables!! I was really excited to eat here because I had it bookmarked on Yelp. They have a 2 course brunch meal for $39/pp. I thought it was a decent deal but the food wasn't as good. We got the avocado toast and sea bass crudo for the first course. 2nd course - egg sando, wild salmon bowl. Maybe my expectations were too high, but the food wasn't good... Everything tasted like something I'd be able to cook myself at home (and I don't cook). It just lacked the flavor I was looking for. It's definitely a cute spot for pics though, loved the ambiance and the service!! #doitforthegram :)
Very cute spot! Went for brunch, finally.
It's been on my to do list. Service was good. Food was yummy. I had rose but the cocktails a coffees looked good. My fave was the crudo! Not a cheap brunch but it's worth the vibes. Will definitely be back! Side note: the entrance is in the alley way.
A little expensive for what it is, but incredible food,
A little expensive for what it is, but incredible food, drinks, and ambiance! Our group had a number of dietary restrictions between us, and they accommodated us all wonderfully. A great night in a cool spot!
Disgusting food and service
Horrible place! From the staff to the food, to the experience, absolutely horrible. 7 out of 7 of the dishes came out super salty. The meal took an hour to come out. The waiter and manager were both incredibly dismissive about the entire experience. The service is slow. Here for a birthday and they made it such a bad experience. Pregnant and didn’t end up eating anything. They even charged extra , after such an experience
Impressive find
A spontaneous visit turned into an instant admiration. The venue emanates remarkable trendiness. While the upscale menu bears a higher cost, its visual appeal hints at deliciousness. Our distinct drinks held an element of astonishment. Service excelled; the hostess displayed genuine assistance, while the bartenders combined charm, humor, and efficiency. Monday's crowd underscores its popularity; reservations are wise. Undoubtedly, this place is on an ascent. My fondness for it is resolute.
Don’t valet they are theifs
Went to dinner with friends at Mother. Tongue and I had left my bag in the car by accident, and the Valet guy stole my money and jewelry left behind in the car

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
