do not give this place your money !
having booked a table for a set time we were kept waiting for over 30 minutes (as were other diners) and the staff didn't give a damn- why would they ? the place was packed ! eventually shown to our table and we were pretty much told what we would be having and when - this place is all about flipping tables as quickly as possible - food was average at best despite being expensive ( and money is not the issue) and majority of the service appalling - we were lucky that we had a lovely waiter who was sympathetic but his ?manager/ overseer ? Maynor was downright rude !!- his indifference to our concerns was outstanding - we were also 'accidentally' presented with a bottle of Puligny Montrachet that we had not ordered - I notice that a couple of other reviews had the same 'mistake' ! dreadful experience and would never go back

This is an upscale restaurant with excellent and attentive service. Beautifully presented. Fun buzz and great atmosphere. We went on Valentines night with a set menu so did not have the full menu choices. However our prawns with glazed walnuts were delicious followed by perfectly cooked tender steak and delicious lobster An expensive but special dinner. All the food comes together so it would be neat to have little warming trays, as then you could enjoy it all whilst warm.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful restaurant, great service , good food
First is great location and the decorations and ambiance are perfect. Warm welcoming and great service ( 5 Starts ) Is a very elegant and classy . We miss this kind of impecable tablecloths and pristine restaurants. The food is good variety, presentation and flavor . We are visiting Miami Beach for a week and we plan to to have a dinner in a 5 stars and highly recommended and/ or Michelin award restaurants. This can be one that we will come back .
Be the first to ReplyWhat a disappointment
Over priced, Tables packed like sardines and food service worse than McDonalds. Could not order Duck because there were so many patrons and they were not honest about what was available.
Be the first to ReplyJust don’t give these pretentious idiots your $
Will edit and expand on this if I can but we will NEVER darken the door of this truly awful (at best mediocre and terribly overpriced) place ever again. From the awful reception area and staff, through the totally unacceptable delay seating our reservation, it just got to the point where we laughed. Massively over priced for what it delivers. Our waiter didn’t care. We explained, he cared even less. His manager nodded and apologised - but also didn’t care. They’re rammed and busy so make no effort to accommodate or deliver. The version of duck we had, was poor. The chicken satay starter was way too creamy and poor. The prawn toasts were brilliant. Just awful experience. Don’t waste your money. Pretentious and arrogant place. BTW - this was one of our ‘cheaper’ meals so far so it truly isn’t a price issue. Terrible.
Be the first to ReplyLoads of waiters running round but mostly poor food
At $330 for a couple to eat with no booze I want a culinary experience that Mr Chow doesn’t deliver. What I loved were the attentive waiters. They delivered an attentive high end experience and that was 5 star. But you can’t eat the waiters. The setting was nice but for some reason having Spanish music playing in a Chinese restaurant was weird specially the impromptu dance track that came on. The chicken satay with a sauce that took 4 hours to cook lacked any satay flavour. It was smooth but bland. The salt and pepper prawns with their shells on was excellent and worth going to have them alone. The prawn toast was well made and chunky. For mains, Beijing Chicken barely had any chicken with a flavoursome sauce. The duck wrap was nice but both dishes didn’t stand out enough for the price tag. The desserts are the shocker. They are bought in and taste disgusting. I had the lemon meringue and sorbet. We had to send them back. The experience would be improved with more refined main courses, home cooked desserts and to create an ambience of the east and not Bumbalaya by the Guidry Kings. The starters are the reason for a better grade as they were nice except for the chicken satay.
Be the first to ReplyYou eat what the Chef wants, when the Chef wants you to. Or you don't.
Dreadful experience, never to happen again. I went with a group of six friends for dinner at Mr Chow's. As soon as you sit, servers take turns greeting and pushing you champagne by the glass. Every single one, at least 8 of them, asking the same questions. Bit overwhelming. We ordered some wine while exploring the food menu. We decided not to go with the (also hardly pushed) two-course menu, but to order different appetizers to share. So we did, ordering 6 different appetizers. The server then says we need to order the main course right away. We say we'd rather wait for the appetizers, and then decide what else to order, after all some of us may want to go with an entree, some of us may reorder another appetizer. "No! These are the rules here. You have to order the main course now!" It doesn't make sense, it's early into the night (8pm), the restaurant is half-full (now I can see why) and there's no visible reason why we should order now. We insist that we'd like to get the appetizers first. The Maitre D' comes to our table to clarify: "There's a minimum of $60 of food per person rule, if you don't order at least $60, the Chef won't serve you". What the hell? Doesn't he realize that ANY combination of 2 appetizers WILL exceed $60, let alone any combination with a $50+ entree? I any case, is this even something you SAY to a patron who clearly knows that kind ($$) of restaurant he's sitting at? What is this, minimum spend at a night club to get a table? I look the Maitre D deeply in the eyes and say "listen, this is getting more stressful than I was expecting when we decided to get dinner. You either get us our appetizers, or we're leaving" "OK, I can get you TWO of the six appetizers you ordered, but the chef won't send the other four unless you order the main course." "Well, wish your Chef good luck. We're leaving." And so we did. Never to return. And happily ate over twenty servings of different appetizers at Makoto, where we were brilliantly served.

The worst service I had ever seen in any restaurant. Orders are not taken in the right manner nor respect to what the customer wants
Be the first to ReplyTruly Amazing!
My partner and I are well travelled and know excellent food, prepared with great ingredients. I live in San Francisco and have the benefit of many excellent Chinese places from upscale to tiny mom and pop’s places. My gal is from London and well travelled as well. Anyhow, while it is expensive the food is worth it. The service is impeccable and the staff is so very friendly. Our head waiter made absolutely the best recommendations. The only down side is we were sort of stuck in a row of side tables. I get it- we were staying at the hotel on vacation and house hunting and weren’t dressed up but not beach casual. Overall the important part is the restaurant makes exceptional food with fresh top shelf ingredients and the wait staff is phenomenal. Very enjoyable evening.
Be the first to ReplyBAD BLAND CHOW!!!
This is the most overrated restaurant I have ever eaten! What a total waste of money and time!!! I had two signature dishes; first the Chicken Satay. In all honestly I thing chicken McNuggets taste better! Tasteless, dry and bland, with a tasteless white sauce that absolutely doesn’t go together with the “spicy” side experiment. Then I had the dry, bland and overcooked Ma Mignon, another disaster! The only positive was the bottle of wine. The brown rice with three white mushrooms was hard and dried out!!! Don’t even think of coming here - you’ll regret it!!!
Be the first to ReplyCan little plates of food make you feel like you were mugged?
Yes. The room is beautiful and the food is generally good. Sometimes better than good like the soup dumplings. Sometimes it tastes good but more in the way candy does (crispy beef). But the prices and portions…I struggle for words here. We are luxury travelers and accustomed to paying premium prices at premium locations. But even in a town where hedge fund money and free-spending Russian oligarchs are ubiquitous, Mr. Chow’s can raise eyebrows. Entrees supposedly served “family style”are preciously small (like the Chinese food equivalent of a tapas dish), but cost $50+. And the wait staff’s approach is aggressive and fast talking in the way one would more expect to encounter at a tourist trap…which is what the restaurant ultimately felt like. Withinseconds of being seating, a waiter rolled a cart up to the table offering glasses of champagne to start. He reluctantly presented a price card: the glasses were $40+. We passed. Wine by the glass wasn’t much better and started at about $19 for the Sancerre and went up steeply from there. They press very hard for everyone to do a silly priced $96 prim fixe menu, and frankly whether you do the menu or order a la crate you’ll finish feeling fleeced. Dinner for three, which was good but not exceptional in any way, came to $480 with tip. The experience overall was irksome and not one we will make the mistake of repeating.
Be the first to ReplyWorld class service
World class service, great atmosphere and tasty food. What’s not to like. Particular kudos to the waiting team who were so good and attentive that they anticipated anything you ever needed almost before you even realized you did. Service this good is very very hard to achieve.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible, please don’t go!
Last visited this restaurant about 6 years ago with family and had a great experience, so we were looking forward to visiting again. Last night in Miami before we returned to the UK. So say we we were disappointed is an understatement!
I asked for a glass of Prosecco, waiter poured me a sip to try. It was champagne! When I queried it, he said we don’t have Prosecco, this, is the nearest to it. That’s when we should have walked out.
When we ordered our food, we were told that we couldn’t have the duck with pancake as part of our starters, we could only have it with our main course. Bizarre!
The Chicken satay was unrecognisable, bore no resemblance to the dish I have eaten many times. Utterly tasteless. T
The meal carried on like that. When we complained about the quality of the food, they were not interested. Told us that they had no complaints from diners.
Just a terrible experience and cost us $400!
Extremely disappointing experience!
Well where do I start! Turn up to a flock of waiters which was fine at first but became quite unnerving when all eyes where on you!
Told that we could only order 2 x starters, 2 x mains & 2 x side dishes to share was a bit strange! I’m veggie & my husband is a massive meat eater so this was going to be interesting! My husband told the waiter he would be happy to pay the extra but was shot down in flames!
We ordered as told & the food started to arrive, as quickly as it came the waiters whisked the dishes away, I even had to save some of my veg going off before I had the chance to take it off the serving plate!
Due to the limited food that we could order we decided to share a cheese cake which was nice but again the plate was whipped away beneath us.
So $341 the bill came to, we where in & out within 1hr 30mins (& that was dragging it out as we were wanting to try & feel we got our moneys worth)! We asked for the bill which seemed also to be ready and swiftly brought over & asked by the waiter if we wanted change from the cash given, I said we would like the change but then was rudely approached by one of the waiters to say that service wasn’t included so did I really want to only leave a €9 tip!
To say I feel ripped off is an understatement!
Zero Stars Wasn't An Option!
BEWARE - RIP-OFF!
We were a party of 9, with adults and children. When we sat down, we were greeted by a waiter who pointed to the price fixed menu of $96 per person and told to pick 4 appetizers and 4 entree's. We told the waiter we wanted to pick our own selections and he argued with us that it has to be this way. This is not a price fixed restaurant - but they wanted us to know we would be leaving hungry unless we chose this option.
The manager, Luis Garcia came to our table and proceeded to tell us that their entree portions are so small that we would need to order several dishes per person. The manager tells us that every dish is the size of a credit card! $1400 later...we left feeling as though we had decent Chinese food and were ripped off!
Bottom line - If you are a large party, know that you are in for $120pp for food only and if you are a small party, the manager himself is telling you that their portions are embarrassingly small! ....and as a kicker, the $120 (after tip and tax) is appetizer - entree - rice. That's it!
When speaking to Mr. Garcia after the fact, he chose to focus on the fact that I was referring to their cuisine as Chinese Food (not
Christmas dinner at Mr. Chow’s Miami
Awful. Outrageously over priced. The food was over cooked. Service was poor and extremely rushed.
The restaurant is very noisy. It’s a bad experience and you leave feeling ripped off.
Save your money and get a better meal almost any where.
