MUN Korean Steakhouse Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year

We originally wanted to bring a friend to Mun Patio (his first time) to celebrate his birthday. It was on a Wednesday night so we expected it to be a little less busy. I showed up first at 10:05pm to check-in, only for one of the female employees to tell me that the patio section was already closed for the night... (even though on Yelp, Google, and IG, they all say that the patio closes at midnight). I completely understand that most restaurants have a last seating time and last calls, usually 45 minutes to an hour before closing time. However, we arrived almost 2 hours before their posted closing time and the entire patio was already closed off and empty. The same female employee then let me know that inside (MUN Korean Steakhouse) was still open and we could be seated. I told her great! Let me let the rest of my group know as they were originally going to come through the back patio entrance. Even though we were disappointed about Mun Patio closing early, we decided to give MUN Korean Steakhouse a try. We showed up together at 10:15pm inside the restaurant and I let the same female employee know that our whole group is here, ONLY FOR HER TO TELL US THAT THE INSIDE WAS ALSO NOW CLOSED. She then proceeds to tell me that if I was here earlier, they could have seated us... Wait, earlier like as in just 10 minutes prior when you literally saw that I WAS HERE and SPOKE TO ME?? Today I called them over the phone to confirm. The employee that picked up said that last call was at 10:45pm and as long as we arrived before 10:45pm, they would be able to seat us... well unfortunately that DID NOT happen yesterday. MUN Korean Steakhouse AND Mun Patio, please post the correct hours. IF you are going to close the patio before 10:00pm on weekdays, don't say you close at midnight. IF a customer arrived well before your last call and last seating time, AND your employee spoke to them already letting them know the inside restaurant was still open, MAYBE train them to not turn your customers away only 10 minutes later. PLEASE DO BETTER.
Our reservation was at 7:30 on a Friday.
Because parking at the structure (suggested by the reviews) took longer than expected, we arrived at 7:50 and they told us they can't seat us bc we won't have the entire 90 minutes. They told us we only will have an hour to eat and will give us the bill at 8:50 pm. We were fine with that so they seated us right away upstairs. Tbh it was enough time lol. Lesson learned, give at least 15 mins extra for parking if you're going to the garage across the street (next to the hmart one). Not taking any stars off for this because it's not smth either party could really control. On to the food - We ordered the Mun special $60 for each of us (total 3). Meal started off great w the sides. Steamed egg was so fluffy and had gooey cheese! The bulgogi yuk jeon was my favorite with the mustard onion salad. Yum! Unfortunately this is where I withdraw 2 stars - the meat quality was not up to par. Meat was really tough and even though we had our waiter cook for us. We were pretty underwhelmed by the flavor too. The Kimchi jigae was pretty bland too. For the hype, I do not agree and would go back to King Chang for their high meat quality. Overall besides the experience of being rushed, I felt really disappointed by the quality of meat. I feel that's what ppl pay for and it wasn't worth it for us. Bonus story: I made a dinner reservation another time ago and they called me the day of that they double booked and wanted me to move my time from 7:30 to 8:30pm. We couldn't do that bc we had other things scheduled so we decided to go to King Chang as they had an availability at 7:30pm.
Mun is the hot KBBQ right now for sure.
I've been going since they opened way back in 2021 and I'm happy to see them surviving and thriving years later! And now with a special MUN Patio, too?! Let's go! MUN takes reservations which is just a blessing in KTown. For that reason alone, I find myself taking people here all the time. But don't let me let you think that's it... Every time I've been, service has been stellar. Staff is super helpful, everything cooked for you, everyone is always really nice there. Drinkwise, they have all the usual liqs but don't sleep on their mocktails. They actually are aesthetically pretty and taste great, too. I really like their japchae and legit, I could just eat them glass noodles all day. Overall, their banchans are solid, I think their potato salad is pretty fire. Meatwise, I've had the whole menu and I'm happy with the quality and portions for the prices. Pork Belly and Kalbi are always my favorites though and they're both great here. For me, Mun is top 3 KBBQs in LA. Yah I said it!
Very good food, we tried the OMG group option.
Would love to eat there many more times and try more!
Everything is so good, from the appetizer to main course
Everything is so good, from the appetizer to main course (meats). I don't even like or eat kimchi but when i tried theirs i really liked it. I would definitely come back and try some other meats or combos.
I like this place.
Food and drinks are good and it's one of the only KBBQs I know of that takes reservations. I just don't understand why the first thing they tell clients when we walk in is at what time they want us out of here. It comes across as very rude.
I love mun!! the kimchi cheese pancake is delicious!
I love mun!! the kimchi cheese pancake is delicious! service is quick and the ambiance is so pretty and classy. the soybean soup is so gooddd
Very decent korean bbq spot in LA.
We made a reservation for an easy check in and was seated indoors. Since it was our first time we ordered the Mun's Choice which came with four meats and some sides. It was a bit pricey for $60 a person. In my opinion the best cuz was the rib eye, which was tender and paired well with the red wine salt. The other meats were nothing special or unique and similar to other kbbq places. Some of them were a bit chewier than others. Same with the sides and todu soup, nothing special. They do cook for you here and our server always made sure we were ok! The outdoor patio lookes spacious and fun and definitely something we may come back for as I heard if was a different menu. Parking was also easy as they provided information on their IG which I really appreciated !!
Came here for a birthday dinner last night.
This was my first time here and I've been wanting to try this place. But in my honest opinion I would say it was a little underwhelming. The quality of meat was really good but I also think you can get that quality anywhere in koreatown these days. And most of the meat we ate had a gas after taste. So either the meat was being cooked too fast or the vents weren't working. But I'm fine with that. But the thing that was disappointing was that, for the price I'm paying, why am I cooking my own food? Yes the staff did their best but there were some time where we manned the grill ourselves. - again, no different than any Korean bbq down the street or around the corner. Overall, I'd say it's good to try this place once and that's about it.
Very very expensive KBBQ for the small portion they serve.
If you want more for your buck I would recommend somewhere else. However, service and food was good. Drinks were good as well, but I was unable to try their special Old Fashion Whiskey because they didn't have any and were in the process of brewing. Overall, very overpriced and wouldn't recommend unless you want to Instagram.
Came here late last night, there was little to no wait time
Came here late last night, there was little to no wait time but the last call happens around an hour and some before their actual closing so be prepared for that! They have 4 or 5 choices for combos depending on your group size, but unless you really like ALL the meats they offer, it's not really worth it imo. Combo comes with some sides like cheese and veggies. If I could redo my first time I would just get the pork jowl and the ribeye and call it a day, they were really the best meats there! They cook it for you which is cool, but i saw that they do kimchi rice at the end and we didn't get it :( to be fair we came at 10:20 which is near their last call (10:45) and they close at 12am. I got a strawberry lychee martini and it was delicious!! If you can choose, outdoor seating is definitely better. Staff was nice too!

Food is good but overpriced, grill is super slow, and they have a mandatory tip added on. Would not go unless I'm not paying
Really good quality, a little pricey.
We split the date night combo and everything was delicious!
Mun Korean Steakhouse is one of the best Korean bbq spots
Mun Korean Steakhouse is one of the best Korean bbq spots I've been to in Ktown. You can really taste the quality of the meat and the aesthetics of the restaurant makes it stand out from its competitors Customer service here is top notch as the servers also cook for you You know a restaurant is the place to be when celebrities come to eat there. During my dinner, I saw Kpop group Le Sserafim! 100% recommend checking them out when you're in the area!

I came here on a Thursday night with friends because I was craving KBBQ. I believe we got the Mun's choice which served about 3-4 ppl if I'm not mistaken. One thing I absolutely love about this place is the ambiance. This place has a soothing & pleasant ambiance. It is a bit on the pricier end & I personally feel like you can find better quality KBBQ elsewhere for a better price, like Ahgassi Gopchang. Other than that, this place is really great! The service is really fast as well. I give it 4/5 stars!
Got a recommendation to go here, but I DO NOT recommend
Got a recommendation to go here, but I DO NOT recommend taking you semi elderly parents or anyone if you want to have a conversation. It's so loud here that you could barely hear the person next to you. Meat here is good, Ok for the price. It will cost $50 per person on the lower end, so if you eat a lot, know you will be spending more.

The BEST!! I come here multiple times a month because I love it so much. The Muns choice is delicious. The presentation is so fun and meat quality is the best I've had. The staff is also super friendly and welcoming. The ambiance gives off a dark luxe vibe and their cocktails are good as well. Would highly recommend!
Great meat selections for sure hence why the pricing are
Great meat selections for sure hence why the pricing are much more expensive compared to other Korean bbq places I've been to. On a weekend, they definitely can use more staff specially with what you're paying for. They cook the meat for you but we felt bad, as we noticed too many tables to cook for with our server obviously shuffled to attend to too many tables at one time. Just felt for her to be rushed explaining the menu as she did her best tending to her section. Other than glamorous lighting and the dark paint, this joint is nothing out of the ordinary. Outdoor and Indoor seating available but they do maximize you to 2-2.5 hours on your table even though this is not AYCE. For pricing, quality was good but service was ok and definitely portions were mediocre. I would most likely go elsewhere for the same great quality of meat and pay less to be tended to better.
Meat is good.
But they are really strict about giving you a time limit and making sure you leave ON TIME - so much so that they will legit skip over dishes (we want our MUN stew!) Like, SUPER invested in getting you to leave. The thing is though, they do all the grilling, so it's not like you are slow and holding them up. It was super bizarre. For reference we were given 1.5 hours.
We decided to come to Mun with the girls after hearing
We decided to come to Mun with the girls after hearing great things about it. Unfortunately we were sorely disappointed and underwhelmed. Let me preface my review by saying that we are regulars at Quarters so this isn't our first kbbq experience. We ordered Muns Choice ($60/pp), which is their best meats (per our waiter) and comes with a couple of appetizers. We also added an order of bulgogi to it. An order of bulgogi (pictured) was $50 and it was definitely not worth it. The taste was off and they cut up the meat so much that it was hard to grab any pieces with the chopsticks. The ribeye took around an hour to cook!! I'm not even exaggerating - the picture attached was taken 45 minutes into cooking and it's still bloody. We asked our waiter to maybe turn up the heat because it was ridiculous how long it was taking and he said that's just how it is and that the heat was already turned all the way up. The meat wasn't even hot when we took it off the grill The rice was dry and hard. When we notified a waitress she said that's just how they make their rice. They didn't have rice paper :( The banchan was mediocre at best. Also, they don't serve ramen indoors? That was pretty random and disappointing... Overall, definitely not worth the price. We were surprised at all the positive reviews but maybe things changed? Back to Quarters we go!
