We ordered eggplant, chicken, okra, naan, and keena (naan with lamb inside). Food was really tasty and they include a lot more pieces of chicken and veggies than what I'm used to at some of the other Indian restaurants. Definitely a plus. The only dish that was a bit disappointing was the keena (naan with minced lamb ). They can definitely benefit from hiring someone who speaks better English and knows what eggplant is (since it's on the menu). It was really difficult ordering over the phone. Just feels like staff was not the most efficient, and improvement to that could dramatically improve customer experience.

Be the first to ReplyThis is an update to my prior review seen above.
Yesterday, (12-30-2023) I called Nagina Palace as two members of our family wanted to try an Indian food NYE. As NP is on our way from Modesto to the other member's home, it seemed an easy fix. I called the place and had some difficulty with the person who picked up the phone. She didn't seem to understand that I wanted to give (and pay for) our order the day before. After going back and forth a few times, it became apparent that this was going nowhere, so I told her I would call back today (the 31st). Unfortunately for NP, that gave me time and motivation to look around, and after consulting Yelp, we decided on another place, Mother India in Ceres. I successfully ordered and will see how things work when we pick it up later today. Fingers crossed.

This review will be somewhat skewed since Ive never dined in nor ordered anything other than their butter chicken and garlic naan. I order these two for my son and he loves it. I've tried their somosas but was not impressed. I order the food through Yelp/Grubhub and just pick up the food when ready. They've got a pretty large parking lot and although the gent at the cash register isn't very friendly, he is polite. Their dining area is pretty big and I imagine they rent it out for special events but can't confirm that. Overall I recommend this place and this is where I get my son's butter chicken.

The food is delicious! The weekday buffet is a great deal and has both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options galore. The service can be a little iffy, but highly recommend if you can look past that.

The food has always been good here and service under new management is subpar. I put my to go order online to avoid waiting but when I got to the restaurant, my husband was told that it would be 30 minutes. An hour later the food was finally brought out. We repeatedly asked for the food and kept being told it would be "soon". We took the food home only to find out that it was all cold. I don't understand how it wasn't piping hot if we waited an hour for it to get made. It should have been fresh! The garlic naan was hard and not soft. Samosas were cold and soggy.

Be the first to ReplyGood food.
Might consider trying their $12.99 buffet and other desserts next. The place was nicely decorated with Indian designs.

Samosas are big and great for there price. I got the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala spice mild. Service is good as well. The girl up front is nice and welcoming.

This is my second time eating at Nagina Palace and it was delicious! The restaurant is very spacious with plenty of seating and the service is friendly. We ordered Paneer Puri, garlic + regular Naan, Basmati rice, chicken Tikka Masala, mango Lassi and Gulab Jamun. Everything came out fresh and had great flavor. I usually travel to the Bay Area for good, authentic Indian food, but am happy I will not be needing to travel far any longer.
Be the first to ReplyNagina Palace has become a mixed bag for us, so much so
Nagina Palace has become a mixed bag for us, so much so that we are actively looking for alternatives for the next time our cravings turn to Indian food. Here's why:We have been coming to Nagina Palace for a few years now, we enjoyed them back in the days when they had a nice lunch buffet. However, the past few times the service has gotten spotty and our last trip a few days ago, driving about 45 mins each way, has us looking for alternatives. The time to seat was fine but the time to get menus, to get water, to try and get a drink order in (which was subsequently gotten wrong) was WAY too long. They did have time to walk by our table several times, complete with the tunnel vision practiced by wait staff (If I don't look at you, I won't have to work as hard), to repeatedly go to another table complete with two screaming children, and from what my wife said, ignored yet another table completely the whole time we were there.About the drinks, our waitress, had issues with my wife's request for a "rum and Coke" and my request for a "Diet Coke" bringing both of us regular Cokes. (I am sure the markup on the sodas is way below that of a couple of cocktails, but who am I to suggest that they upsell, or just bring what the customer wanted to begin with. About the food, it was good as always, with the exception of a few pieces of stems (spices?) here and their we hadn't experienced before. We always over order to take some home for leftovers, so we were picking the stems out for a couple of days thereafter. To sum it all up, service seriously needs work, food quality, fair to good but we will be exploring options. We always enjoyed Swagat in Stockton, perhaps it's time for a drive up there. One friend suggested a place by Costco in Modesto, but the last time I went there for takeout, the person behind the counter was more worried about the conversation she was having on her cell phone, so I haven't been back since.

I asked one worker what she really likes in the non-vegetarian section (not necessarily what most customers order) and she recommended the Butter Chicken. It was super rich(!) and buttery, as expected. Almost too rich, but still real good. Chicken was juicy unlike other places.. nice I think they used dark meat too instead of only white meat. She convinced me to get medium spicy since the hotter level would be too much, but if you're a spice lover then you could do it. Medium had a tingle but wasn't overboard.Mixed vegetables had cauliflower, snow peas, zucchini, carrots, peas, onions in a light curry seasoning. Though most of the veg seemed from a frozen bag, but still good if you're looking for a "lighter" non-meat side. Note it supposedly comes with cheese too, even though the menu description fails to mention that, but I opted out and it wasnt missed. Not sure if it's a 4.5 or 5, but it sure was tasty

Food was so delicious! We really enjoyed it! They take a while to make the food which is fine with me - I rather them take their time then to rush. The server - may have been the owner was quiet but nice and helpful. We liked it so much we ordered extra to take home. Also the restaurant (ambiance/ decor) is really nice! We enjoyed it. The people in the next both (older folks) talked about how delicious the food was - they ordered a variety of plates! So we were excited to get our food....they were right, food is delicious! We also ordered the veggie somosas- they were so good! The sauces they served them with - all 3 were delicious as well. We will definitely be coming back.
Be the first to ReplyMy family moved back to Modesto recently and we tried all
My family moved back to Modesto recently and we tried all the Indian spots in the area. None of the places we tried were up to snuff, but on a long-shot, we tried Nagina Palace on GrubHub. To our surprise, the food was wonderful! The portions are large, prices are cheap and the food was delicious. Since we tried this place, we've ordered two more times and had the lunch buffet, which have all been excellent. Highly recommend all around!
Be the first to ReplyStopped in for dinner and left full and happy.
We ordered the tandoori chicken plate and butter chicken spicy with basmati rice, garlic Naan and an appetizer with potatoes and peas in it (I can't remember what it was called). The whole meal was delicious and so filling and we have leftovers for lunch. I definitely recommend. Also the sweet sauce is to so yummy on the tandoori chicken.
Be the first to ReplyMy girls love Indian food.
The owner works out at my gym so we gave it a shot. We ordered butter chicken, rice, bread, & some cauliflower chicken with potatoes that was recommended by gal on the phone. My husband & I had never had Indian food & wow this was amazing! We ordered everything medium spice. We will definitely be back!!
