Noodles Plus + 八方小厨 Cambridge Reviews from The Last Year
We thought we would beat the rush by rolling up at 4:30 but
We thought we would beat the rush by rolling up at 4:30 but the line was already in place. We waited about 45 minutes for a table and another 45 minutes for the food but overall the experience was good. Huge winners were the XLB and the noodles with ground pork. The dumplings were well made and filled with tasty broth. The noodles were chewy with rich and flavorful sauce. The fried dumplings were also a hit and with the small up charge for the crispy crust. The vegetarian options were less of a hit with the dumplings a bit starchy and bland. The noodles had nice fresh veg and their perfect noodles but once again came in a little bland. Service was friendly and the atmosphere is like eating in a friends kitchen who also happens to be a Michelin star chef. Prices are reasonable and quantity is robust. I would definitely put this on your list when visiting Cambridge but maybe leave the vegetarians at home.
best dim sum ever
The best dim sum. LOVE this place, run by lovely people and the food is amazing. The Xiao long bao and the Chinese pork and prawn dumplings never miss. Also the scallion soy noodles with braised pork are so amazing, 100% recommend - I come back every time I am near Cambridge
I Don’t Understand the Hype!
We were told by many people to visit (after checking after our visit it seems none of them had visited but all of them had seen reviews etc.) so queued on a Saturday afternoon for 40 minutes to get a shared melamine table. We got a little irritated by single people in front of us holding seats for larger groups, and people going in to get a takeaway (which with one chef and one host makes your wait for actual food very lengthy). When it eventually arrived the food was ok. Thankfully we had lots of vinegar and soy to provide any flavour. The microwave is the hardest working item in the open kitchen, which may explain the solid fish balls, and some of the chewiest squid I have ever had. Yes, we had the Xiao Long which were quite thick, but again these were just ok… nothing more impressive than I have tried before. They seem to be trying hard, and maybe the huge numbers of people have driven quality down as they try to serve everybody, but this is not a restaurant that you should queue for IMHO.
Even it does have the authentic noodles/dumplings taste... be prepared to wait up to an hour or more...
There seems to be a long line for this noodles and dumplings restaurant the few times I went pass, so I thought, I may give it a try as it must be quite good to sustain a regular queue. In short, noodles have good texture and the dumplings are also tasty (especially outside of China). Wouldn't mind coming back if there was no/shorter queue. The issue here probably is that with a small family run restaurant (husband and wife I presume), everything has to be hand made from scratch (hence the authenticity and quality is there), and as customers try to get a table in this small 15 seating venue, the queue builds up very quickly. We actually went off peak hours for lunch and we still waited for an hour. If time and wait is not of any concern, it's a good place to soothe your craving for Chinese noodles and dumplings. Kindly note they close 2 days a week (Mon & Tues) and I went once on a day when they were closed.. hence no queue...
My favorite Cambridge restaurant
Nestled on Mill Road, Cambridge, Noodle Plus quickly became my favorite dining spot during my stay in the city. This small, cozy restaurant, with just one chef and one server, offers an exclusive dining experience. Despite its limited seating and operating hours, the place is always buzzing with customers, a testament to its exceptional quality. The atmosphere inside is intimate and unique, making every visit special. The restaurant's size adds to its charm, creating a warm and welcoming environment. It's more than just a place to eat; it's a culinary adventure where each dish is crafted with care and passion. Noodle Plus is undoubtedly a must-visit for anyone in Cambridge. Its popularity, despite its small size, speaks volumes about the quality of food and service. It remains my unbeatable favorite in Cambridge, a place I hope will expand in the future while retaining its special character!
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious+
I was staying across the street. I noticed just one restaurant of the many on Mill Rd had a queue of people waiting. Always a good sign. I grew up in San Francisco, a city of noodle shops. Nothing about Noodles Plus will disappoint. Try especially the Shanghai dumplings stuffed with soup. Then try everything else. My only complaint: the restaurant is stubbornly “cash only.” Across England I noticed a baffling insistence on “cards only” (excuse me, but aren’t fivers and tenners legal tender in the UK?). This was the only restaurant that demanded cash. Fortunately, there is an ATM just down the Street.
Dinner with friends
Superb Xiao Long Bao and beef brisket noodles. Excellent chicken. Nice custard buns. Food freshly made and steamed. Good price as well. There’s a quite a queue so make sure you are not in a rush.
Hidden gem
Ordered dumplings as take away and literally seen them being freshly made. It's true, you have to wait a bit, but it is worth it. The owners are very nice and friendly. It's a hidden gem.

Hi, I have a reservation to Nobu Malibu, but since they don't do text or e-mail confirmations I haven't been able to get my reservation posted. I have posted a screen shot of the phone conversation on the listing, but it keeps getting rejected. If anyone has an idea how I can get it approved that would be much appreciated, thanks!

Write a note with the Name of the restaurant, Name on reservation, day/time/number of people, your phone number. Then on the bottom wrote “confirmed by phone”. Screenshot it and submit.
